About this property

Macatawa Lake Side Cottage by State Park and Bike Trails

Welcome to our Macatawa Lake Side dutch clean cottage. It is located in the Holland State Park resort area, where you can enjoy activities such as walking, hiking, running, biking, sunbathing, making sand castles, swimming, boating or renting jet skis. Drive to the park entrance, which is less than a mile away and you can boat watch along the Holland State Park channel and walk the beautiful white sand beach for miles!

Our Macatawa Lake Side Cottage is perfect for 1 family or more. In fact it would be great for a family reunion or any other larger group and if more accommodations were needed you could combine our Macatawa Lake View Cottage which is right next door (#418838) and have everyone together.

Our cottage has 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms, with 2 extra pull out couches for more sleeping possibilities. It has all the amenities to make your stay easy and enjoyable—dishwasher, washer/dryer, and a private back deck/patio area with outstanding views of Lake Macatawa especially from the second floor deck or at the end of the permanent dock. There’s plenty of parking for your guests too, and a 2 stall garage for your car and “extra” items. We supply a few bikes for your use or if you prefer, bike rental is available within a few blocks of the cottage. The kids will have fun digging in the sand or throwing a ball at our 300+ foot private Association beach, located on either side of the cottage. Have campfires and roast marshmallows at the beach and walk right back to your cottage when you’re done.

Waterfront getaway. Not quite as expected.
We loved Holland MI. We have visited before and in our retirement years we looked forward coming to the Tulip Festival. Our vacation rental was right in the mix of things. The pictures made it look very appealing. There are some good things about the place, but the big issue of the home was the deferred maintenance that we discovered. From no window screens on the upstairs windows to blinds that were broken, or missing, in the bedrooms. We had to use a spare blanket for privacy. And that is just the start. The garage was dirty with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The arm of the sectional sofa in the enclosed porch was badly stained. A spare comforter was stained to a point that a cleaning probably wouldn't help. We placed it, with the sheets, in the laundry area but it probably should be pitched. We spent very little time in the house because of condition. The clean-up list in the binder was quite insulting. It included requests that we mop floors, vacuum, scour tub, toilet and sink. And that is not all. She requested we empty wastebaskets into a container in the garage (which did not exist). There is much more we could have noted, but won't. We paid a healthy cleaning fee for all this. We were guests not the cleaning crew. This could be a great place to stay, and for the healthy rate we paid, it should have been way better. Too bad.

Fun Thanksgiving with Family and Friends
Harriet’s home on Lake Macatawa was ideal for our two families. Each couple had their own room and we had a boys room and a girls room. We cooked our Thanksgiving day meal and enjoyed eating on the three seasons porch. Even though our stay was in November, the kids played in the sand w/provided toys, the fished off the dock (caught two perch!), we had a lovely bonfire by the lake, and even walked to the beach several times during our stay! Everything worked as it should and Harriet was excellent at communicating. Thank you for helping us make wonderful memories!
