Beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom private country cottage with pool

Cortijo Del Monte, as its name suggests is hidden away on a mountain top overlooking Torrox village and the Mediterranean. Situated in the Montealegre area of Torrox countryside this traditional cottage provides a very comfortable home for your holidays where you can enjoy the sun by the pool or the breeze through the trees in the mature gardens, surrounded by grapevines and olive groves.

The house has a living room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, three double bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom and another full bathroom, there is a separate utility room. Outside there is a swimming pool, a BBQ area and plenty of terraces and gardens for you to relax and enjoy your holiday.

A deposit will be required on booking your holiday, payable by bank transfer.

Related to a possible cancellation, the quantity paid for the booking will be lost to amend possible profits and loss, considering that the owner could lose the opportunity to rent it again.

About the Owner

Traditionally, Andalusian families, particularly families from the villa of Torrox, used to spend the winter or summer seasons in houses located in the countryside, normally known as "Cortijos", in order to gather olives or grapes between others fruits from the season. Consequently, almost each family in Torrox owned a house or "Cortijo" outside the village for this purpose. Our family has used this ancient tradition in Torrox in order to offer our customers a renewed version of "the Andalusian Cortijo" with the only aim of assuring your relax and enjoyment.

The first villa was built between the years 1985-1990, is the house that we called "Cortijo Del Monte". All the family contributed on building up the house, Mom, Dad and the kids, with the aim of enjoying weekends and holidays in the house... but only until the children grew up.

By chance, and coinciding with this time, a travel agent, who knew about our house, proposed us to rent the house; according to his opinion, the villa had all the optimal conditions to be offered as a house to rent. Consequently, we finally decided to rent it and since then our only goal is to offer the best service and comfort.

Afterwards, between the years 1998-2005, other villas were built up, as the ones called "Cortijo El Paraíso", "Cortijo Los Almendrales" and "Cortijo Del Sol". It is still a family business, Mom is responsible for cleaning inside the house and taking care of all the minimum details for keeping the charm inside home; on the other hand, Dad takes care of all exterior areas, as gardens, growing up trees and flowers, watering plants and cleaning and keeping the pool; and finally, the kids, that now are adults, particularly Carlos, is responsible for the design and diffusion of the villas in all the national and international websites.

Our only objective is to offer the best, so we do not scrimp on efforts or expenses to achieve that you finally enjoy the comfort, relax and charm of our villas.

Lovely stay in Torrox

On arrival in Torrox the owner was waiting at a very clear spot to bring us to the house on top of the hill (550m) but before that he brought me to a supermarket to do some foodshopping because I arrived by taxi.

The house is exactly as it is described. It is in one word " beautiful "

The owners of the house speak Spanish and English and so very helpful and friendly.

If you are looking for a peaceful place this is the one you should hire.

What I missed is a quilt/duvet. I am not a fan of blankets but I have seen more places and these had blankets too. But this would be my tip to the owner.

Thnx again Antonio & Carlos for all your hospitality and great house we could stay.

Perfect family holiday villa and location

The most perfect holiday home we have ever stayed in! Everything was beautiful and immaculate; Carlos and his father have done an amazing job. Totally private and yet the pool and gardens were obviously maintained on a regular basis (very early in the morning). We have visited numerous holiday homes across Europe and all agreed this was the best yet. Close to quiet beaches and peaceful villages yet very easy access from Malaga(approx 1 hour). Nerja is 20 mins away with lots of restaurants, shops and beaches. Highly recommend for families with both young and teenage children. Thanks so much Carlos I really hope to return.

Excellent

We are a family of 4 with 2 young kids and were ecstatic with our stay at Cortijo del Monte.

If you like the look of the pictures then you'll be even more pleased with the real thing as it is much nicer in real life. Although inside is was lovely, it was the outdoor areas that made the holiday for us. There's a picnic table in a shady wooded slope, there's the coffee hut (as we called it) in the garden surrounded by birdlife and butterflies, the semi-circular balcony overlooking Torrox, the BBQ area for dining, and of course the pool area with almost 270 degree views. Loved sitting beside the pool in the evening watching the valley (the black tiles stored the heat from the day making sitting late on cooler evenings pretty comfortable).

If you're partial to a bit of bird-spotting it's a great place too. We're no experts but there was a huge raptor we saw regularly - plus a Nightjar that visited often as it got dark.

On a practical level, the pool area is gated for kids. There's aircon, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, espresso coffee maker (an essential for us). We never wanted for anything.

Carlos was very responsive during booking and during the stay. Antonio was massively helpful onsite and was very patient with my terrible Spanish (he speaks no English - non-Spanish speakers need not worry since between Carlos, Google Translate, and Antonio's expressive manner, little was left to chance).

The road to the villa is very steep and narrow. Easily doable in a VW Golf. We were a little concerned whether our driving skills could cope if we met a car going the opposite way... but that never happened in 2 weeks so we luckily never had to find out.

All in all, and excellent villa and a professional, friendly family team running the operation, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

A little bit of paradise

Family of 6. Granny & Granddad, Mum & Dad, son and niece (16/ 15yrs)

We had stayed previously at Antonio's Cortijo Del Sol in 2013 (great little place), just a little further down the mountain. So we had an idea of what to expect. The road up to the Cortijo is concrete and is safe for 7 seater cars stuffed with people & luggage. On the way up the mountain we could see Velez Malaga. So we had a 360 degree view, taking in the Med, Torrox and the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

As usual, Antonio met us a the BP station just off the motorway, he took us to the Cortijo, showed us around and then left us to unpack.

The Cortijo was very clean, beach towels are provided for the pool and plenty of bathroom towels.

Fantast shower in the en suite.

Ceiling mounted fans have been fitted in the two main bedrooms, floor mounted fans in the lounge and smaller bedroom.

Beds are comfy.

There is no air con, I guess there is simply not enough power up there in the mountains. I was fine with the fans at night, even with daytime temp around 30C.

Antonio calls up early in the morning and fills the pool up, great when you spend all day splashing around and having water fights with super soakers.

He comes up around 8am and never disturbed us.

One of the aspects we were so pleased with was the number of patios and hideaways there are. You could escape to 6 different locations outside. The best place to go late afternoon was "Maggies Den". It has a comfy 3 piece suite under a gazebo, with nets blowing around in the breeze. great for a few beers out of the hot afternoon sunshine. Sitting on the coach you have a great view down to the Med.

Its 20 min drive to Torrox Costa and 25min drive to Competa.

We love the Costa, call into Pepe Rico for a chicken kebab or pork steak. Have a home made pizza in Michelangelo, just set back from the prom.

There is a beach bar heading towards Nerja , before Calcete villas but just after the camp site and free wifi bar. Ice cold beer and fresh fish on the BBQ.

We love Torrox and will go back again.

Cortijo del Monte: What a lovely place.

We stayed several times at Cortijo del Monte and always felt like home. Not only because it is such a beautiful and lovely place but also because the owners are such nice and friendly people.

You find everything you could wish for in this nice little place. All you need for houskeeping, bathrooms and kitchen. The house is very clean and well kept. The view over the sea is fantastic and the beautiful well kept garden is created with a lot of love. It is a place where you really find peace and recovery.

We loved to sit on the terrace having a stunning view over the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the coast and the sea and we did appreciate the swimming pool. We would recommend the place especially to people who appreciate calm and relaxing holidays.

Anyway, we will be back every year if possible

Breathtaking view

This amazing villa on top of the montain has everything you need for a quiet holiday. The outdoor space and the pool area overlooking the mountains and the sea is stunning and the place to be in during the day. The kitchen is very well equipped and the living room is comfortable as well as the three bedrooms which all have air conditioning.

The owner, Antonio, makes sure that everything works and is always available if something happens.

The final road to the house is steep and narrow but after a few trips up and down this road you get used to it. From the house, by car, to Torrox village takes approx. 15-20 min.

We all had a wonderful time at "Castiljo del Monte".

This fabulous tradition Spanish Cortijo is situated about an hour drive east of Malaga between the white villages of Torrox and Cómpeta. Torrox village is a drive of around 15 minutes and a distance of 6km approx. The house is located on a hilltop therefore enjoying truly fabulous views of the mountains, sea and coast between Nerja and Malaga. Cómpeta is also very close by at approx. 7km.

The access to the house is excellent. On leaving the motorway you have a short drive to the main Torrox/Cómpeta road (A-7207) and then 4.5km of this road before arriving at the Montealegre area of Torrox where you take an excellent track, most concreted to arrive at the villa.
