Why KATE HOLDEN chose Herbrandston

Its location is epic, a fabulous retreat great for our dogs in the beginning and then the kids

What makes this house unique

Sitting on the sun-trap deck overlooking the beach, sipping a cool drink and watching the tide come in and out - heaven. Even in winter, you can sit in the warmth of the living room and gaze through the huge windows at the sunlight sparkling on the water .

Perfect location with ever changing views from the living room

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely perfect location, and the living room provides a great space to watch the changing view with the tide. At high tide you have your own private beach area, and as it goes out you can walk for miles all along the coast line. It also has a really big garden. 4 adults and a dog, all very sad to leave and will definitely be back next year! There are a few bits of the property that look a bit tired but it's a beach house at the end of the day and was absolutely perfect for what we wanted and the overall experience is a 5* minimum and one of (if not the) best properties we've ever stayed in for everything that you get. At low tide you can walk across the footbridge to the next village and access the very pleasant Brook Inn or you can walk to herbrandstone at any time with its own pub and shop. Hopefully see you again soon ferry cottage!

amazing cottage for a family to stay in with the beach right in front of you!

  • 5 of 5

Property is fabulous and the layout is great with large bedrooms and a great communal open plan kitchen, dining room, sitting room. The views from the balcony and the huge windows is ever-changing and stunning to see. if i had some constructive criticism, it would be that perhaps another shower would be advantageous if fully occupied. will definitely be returning in the near future!. obe fantastic touch was the welcoming vase of flowers and hamper of local treats including milk, which we forgot!

So So Lovely Cant wait to Go Back

  • 5 of 5

Really tranquil place great views and right on beach. We didn't need to go any where. Three generations and the dogs were all catered for. Its like staying in your own family four bedroom house but on the beach. Fabulous kitchen and lounge with super views, Beds are comfortable and the house is spacious. We are planning to come back next summer.

Great Location for total relaxation.

  • 4 of 5

We did a fair bit of research on the cottage and its location and where not disappointed. This property is very spacious and has lots of amenities and is 20 seconds from the beach. On a warm sunny evening the top balcony is the place to be with enough space for at least 8 people. The cottage is looking a little tired in places and needs a bit of paint decoration here and there, but generally everything is there at the cottage for a relaxing stay. It is adequate for 2 families with children with plenty of breakfast and dining. We were a small group of 4 photographers and I was lucky to have the self contained bedroom with bathroom and a lounge area. There is a small boat yard and the end of the garden, dingy and canoe are well past there best but usable on the high tide. The gardens are mature with nooks and crannies to find your own sunny or shady spot. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the cottage and have no doubts over booking again if we are in the area.

Relaxing holiday in idyllic spot

  • 4 of 5

The property location is amazing, we loved watching the changing scenery through the lovely huge windows.

The property was clean and tidy and well organised.

One big problem was the lack of toilets, we had not read the description well enough and were under the impression that there would have been a toilet in the bathroom as well as the single toilet ( with no sink!) and ensuite toilet. There was no working lock on the single toilet.

Also there were no Recycling facilities or orange bags and we felt really bad throwing it all in the bin. ( i did recycle some, but it was impossible to do all.) A compost in the garden would have been perfect!

We loved using the canoe, and the children enjoyed crabbing from the bridge. The pictures shown do not do the property justice. the kitchen is well stocked and the large utility room is great, a clothes dryer would have been useful when the weather was too damp for the outside line.

Also a outside shower would be perfect to hose off the children, instead of them traipsing sand all through the house.........

We all had a lovely holiday and would come again but with a smaller number of people just because of the number of toilets.
