About Veronique Despreaux

We are both architects and divide our time each year between London and the Haute Savoie

Veronique Despreaux purchased this apartment in 1998

Why Veronique Despreaux chose Morillon

We fell in love with the old farm sitting in its alpine pasture that had stood here for 100+ years. Unfortunately it was suffering from years of neglect so we painstakingly rebuilt it and took the opportunity to add in lots of insulation and a geo thermal heat pump and other luxuries that the old farm never had.

What makes this apartment unique

All the charm of an old farm chalet with plenty of space in and around and all the luxuries of home. The views of the Dents Blanches and Le Criou across the valley can be seen from every window. The chalet sits on the old road up to Morillon 1100 which is 'green' on the Michelin maps, meaning picturesque and not to be missed. Lots of walkers come by admiring the twisting road and the beautiful views.

Guestbook comments from the owner

For two weeks, we, a Dutch family stayed in this lovely house, more than just an apartment!

The two bathrooms are really great and the living room and extra chair from the bedroom provides even cosy sitting around the fireplace for 7 people. The dining table has ample space for even 10 persons!

We stayed with kids for lessons in Samoens and 9 weeks in Morillon! The Morillon centre lift is most close +/- 3 min by car. The Vercland lift is really nice because it is not so busy on vacation weeks. Vercland lift is also good for parking your car easy and very close to the lift. We also drove to Samoens 1600 for the kid’s lessons. This is great when the lessons are early. By car it takes about 10-15 minutes, you have enough parking space and are close to the area +/- 1 minute walk to where the kids have their lessons! We recommend Zigzag Sui. Small classes and the teacher Sebastian even spoke some “Nederlands”. So, if we can, we will return for sure. It is a house that has everything you need to make yourself at home on a holiday!

Thanks!

Gorgeous chalet in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this beautiful chalet - the photos just don't do it justice! It was spacious, clean and very comfortable with everything that we could possibly need for a perfect and relaxing holiday. The views of the mountain were wonderful to wake up to, the chalet is lovely and peaceful and I'm already planning my next ski holiday here!

Morillon is a very picturesque village, especially with all the Christmas lights, and absolutely perfect for a family holiday as it is just big enough to get what you need while still being small and charming. It was also great having easy access to the ski lifts in town and in nearby Samoens.

I can't wait to come back.

Amazing chalet, beautiful surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our summer holiday at this beautiful chalet. The actual house is set in a fantastic location, quiet and secluded, with breathtaking views. It's really comfortable and well equipped, a perfect base for walking and exploring the local area. The weather was also fantastic which was an added bonus! We would love to go back.

  • 4 of 5

4 adults and 3 children have enjoyed Le Cret for a week. A wonderfull House with great space, well equipped kitchen and beautifull

surroundings . Skiing is just around the mountain as well as the shopping.

We had a fantastic skiingholliday and would definetly consider another vacation at Le Cret.

Lovely apartment with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

Some girlfriends and I spent the most wonderful weekend snowshoeing in the Giffre Valley and stayed in the super apartment at Chalet Le Cret. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with a lovely real fireplace, so nice to come back to after spending the day on the mountain. We had everything and more that we needed. The apartment is located in a very quiet area where we spotted deer and woke to the sound of bird song. It's a nature lovers paradise. We didn't have the use of a car and managed ok but skiers would definitely benefit from the use of a car as its a fair walk to the ski bus.

The owner was very helpful and easy to deal with. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful well equipped chalet

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely chalet. We stayed over Christmas for the skiing.

It is very well positioned, you can go down into Morillon Village for the ski lift, where there is a large free car park nearby. Or you can drive up the hill to Morillon 1100, or drive just a few minutes to Vercland Lift. The chalet stands on the side of the mountain, with houses nearby but very private. It is lovely inside, traditional, but modern, and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. There's a King size, a double, twin beds, a single bed mattress/chair and a sofa bed. The two bathrooms are brilliant for a family - one with a bath and one with a shower. Underfloor heating means it is warm and there is an open fire which was easy to light. The kitchen is well equipped, - the oven is very small, but I suspect many eat out/are not cooking huge meals. There is a large hob. Communications etc with the owner were brilliant, and there were good directions and information given. Although there was not much snow when we were there, you are close enough to Flaine to be able to ski given how high that is. Would thoroughly recommend as a chalet. If you are skiing our tip would also be to book your kit in advance, which appeared to be much cheaper, - we used Pascal Ski who were very good, but there seemed to be lots of other professional looking shops in Morillon.

Owner's Response: Dear Colin, Thank you. I am so glad you enjoy your Xmas week at the Chalet. There is plenty more to explore when it snows lower in the valley , the ski slopes like Marvel , just above Morillon 1100 and down to Morillon village are really enchanting in fresh snow , so hope you will be able to come again to see them . Best regards, Veronique

Nearest Airport : Geneva at 55 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Morillon at 1.5 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Golfe des Gets, 18 holes at 20 Kilometres Nearest Train : Cluses at 20 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : Cluses//Scionzier at 20 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Morillon at 1.5 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Vercland/ Morillon Village/ Grand Massif Express at 1.5 Kilometres Car: recommended

Located on the outskirts of the lovely village of Morillon, Chalet le Cret is the perfect base for a mountain holiday. Overlooking the Giffre Valley and Les Dents Blanches beyond, the traditional style alpine farmhouse is set in a pasture, the perfect place to get away from it all and relax in luxury and comfort . Children can sled and build snowmen safely outside. It is just 5 minutes drive from the ski lifts of Morillon and Samoens, leading to 265km of pistes in the Grand Massif. The unspoilt and picturesque medieval town of Samoens is just 8 minutes drive away with narrow lanes of shops, fine restaurants, and plentiful activities all year round. The Sixt national park at the head of the valley is a walkers, bird spotters and climbers paradise. If however you need a break from the peace and beauty of the mountains then just an hour's drive away are the cultural delights of Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix; you will never be short of something to do.
