About Francesca and Julian Jarvis

I am a real estate agent and although I own the property myself, use many of the same maintenance people as the real estate agency does. There are some differences, however, as laundry suppliers etc would not be found in the normal long term rental business.

Francesca and Julian Jarvis purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Francesca and Julian Jarvis chose Peninsula

We knew the developer and purchased three units together. They were close to the other properties we owned which made the management of the properties that much easier.

What makes this apartment unique

The high ceilings and big, easy to work with rooms were key in our property purchase choice. The location (5 minutes walk to the nearest train station) as well as the walk into Old Town Greenwich and the 02 (about 20 minutes) made it even more attractive.

Really nasty management team from check-in to check out

  • 1 of 5

Right from checking in to checking out. Never seen someone these nasty in the tourist industry. The check in was self-check in with lots of typo error on the written instructions and host refusing to explain details on the phone.

And in my apartment, they have this cleaning solutions for all the apartments that they have to gain entry periodically.

To worsen the matter, the host is insisting on my loosing the deposit for for issues with the dishwasher that we never used and a leaking wall that has several paint coatings; indicative of long-term issues.

Very very unpleasant stay with bad memories. Will never recom6.

Owner's Response: SECURITY DEPOSIT REFUNDED FULLY VIA PAYPAL on 12th APRIL 11 DAYS BEFORE YOU WROTE REVIEW AND IT WAS CLAIMED ? We are sad to see this review when every effort was made to help you. To be fair, the guests immediately before you gave us a 5…so a 5 followed by a 1 is a large discrepancy and a bit more objectivity would have been appreciated. Our answers below. 1) We asked if you were aware of the DISHWASHER LEAK we found at your departure and of a LEAK from the shower into the en-suite bedroom (which had been there for some days as mould had formed between the en-suite room and the bedroom). Neither of these leaks existed before your arrival so it was only natural given the damage that we would enquire. We noticed that all the pots, pans crockery etc were laying out washed by hand and when asked about the dishwasher you replied. " that in your country everyone washes pots, pans and crockery by hand ". We did have 2 technicians go in to the flat afterwards. Maintenance assessed that there was a bad leak from the dishwasher and that a supporting leg at the base had broken and after calling in the appliance repairman it was deemed that the air lock seal on the side of the dishwasher needed replacing (normal wear and tear). As a point of clarification, the en-suite bathroom we have never applied several coats of paints to the area to cover anything . Maybe what you were seeing was the blistering after paint gets wet? WE assumed it was an accident and dealt with the LEAK there as well. 2) AS per website, info, contract and emails it was always clear we had a KEY in the SAFE entrance. The procedure that was explained to you SEVERAL times including photographs, information sheets and ultimately talking to you on the phone. We were on an 'INSTANT REAL TIME' answer to you for a step by step entry as you asked. We understood that you got through to Julian by phone. 3) There was a huge stink in the flat after you left. We put it down originally to the dishwasher leak drying out but the cleaners found that you had left decomposing dried meat in the cupboard along with a molding root which they thought was a Yam? It is always courteous and polite to do a domestic clean prior to leaving. We did nothing but be pro-active towards your stay even attending the day after your arrival in person to answer your queries and help you settle in as well as adding internet signal extenders to improve your connectivity upstairs.

For a number of years we have been staying at this flat and other properties owned by River Habitat Realty during our annual visit to London. We are always assured of finding the flat in good order, and the management quick to respond to any questions we might have. We always look forward to our stay at these properties.

Lovely flat outside of the city of London.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in London. The apartment had easy access to London tube via a short bus ride. It was a short walk to market, pharmacy etc. We felt very safe at night to walk back from sightseeing. Francesca and Julian were very helpful in getting us situated, helping us get around and assisting in setting up airport pick up.

Very good!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Julian's flat was great. The photos on the website represent the flat as it is. It is large, clean, well-maintained and situated in a safe area. The buses for the underground or the DLR are next to the flat : from the moment we locked the door in the morning it took us about 30 minutes to go to Central London, and it didn't seem long at all. Julian has always answered my (many) questions in a short time, and the staff whom we got the keys from were very nice and helpful too. We were also given adequate information about the area (about 5-10 minutes by bus from Greenwich village). We would definitely rent the same flat again if we came back to London as a large party _ there were 7 of us : 4 adults and 3 children.

Greenwich was the home of the Equestrian Olympic events in 2012 but its story goes back much further. With is rich naval history and the old Tudor capital of England, it boasts multiple tourist attractions with charming enclaves. Crowd pleasers in Greenwich are the maritime museum, the fan museum and the painted hall in Greenwich university as well as the royal observatory in Greenwich park with its green laser shooting out in the night sky along the meridian line. For those looking for an alternative market, the weekend market in Greenwich is fantastic with hundreds of stalls selling everything from fudge bars to children’s toys.

Now the Cutty Sark ship gad been brought back to its former splendour while the day tourists can grab a pint of beer at either the Gypsy Moth. Pub or Trafalgar Tavern Pub One of the oldest), there are many more grub, gastro pubs and restaurants to try.

Not enough? Jump on the river taxi and the rest of London is at your doorstep.
