About this property

Just renovated and back on VRBO after a few years of absence. This contemporary house/villa is in a quiet residential area in the centre of Reykjavík built in 2002 and designed by its architect owner. The part being rented out is a detached, i.e. separate guest house. The villa is located within 70 meters from the seafront and only 15 minutes walk from the bustling center where you will find The National Theatre, the main museums, art galleries, cinemas, coffee houses, restaurants, bars and the main shopping streets. The bustling center (Miðbær) is a 3 min bus ride away from the house but the bus stop is within 2 min walking distance from the house. The guest house is 76 m2 and is ideal for a couple or a family of four. The location offers fantastic walking and cycling routes along the sea front. There are two bicycles at the Guesthouse, free of charge for the guests. Within 15 minutes walk away there is a geothermal heated beach as well as swimming pools. Free parking outside of the house as well as private patio.

A beautiful property a few steps away from the sea

The property was ultra clean, nicely decorated and ample room for a family of four with 2 teenage boys....the quilts were so warm and snuggly!. It is about half hour walk to the town, but a stones throw to the sea and beautiful views. We were extremely unlucky with the weather, with snow storms for 2 days (February) but our hosts were very kind in offering us lifts into town and to the other attractions nearby, outdoor thermal swimming pools. There is a very tasty burger bar just on the corner near the property and a small supermarket about 15 mins away. The bus stop is at the top of the road, easy to get into Reykjavik if you don’t fancy walking, and our airport transfer dropped us st the domestic airport about 15 mins walk away......most trips will pick up there too. In summary, would highly recommend for a family spending several days sightseeing

Stunning, well equipped, plenty of space and well located

We had a great time at Gudrun's guesthouse - a self contained property which is spacious but cosy with plenty of light (in March time anyway!). We went self catering as we were on a budget and the kitchen and dining/ living areas of the guest house were both great so both our time out and about in the beautiful landscapes/ in town and our time in the guesthouse were both really enjoyable :) We had nice weather so walked into Reykjavic most days but if it had have been more tricky weather there is also a bus stop really near by which takes you downtown on the no. 12 in no time at all so this place is really well located. We loved it!

Modern, clean, perfect location!!

We stayed at this little guest house for a winter short break. Our flight arrived in the middle of night and the helpful owners David and Gudrun had it all ready for us, which was much appreciated with two tired teenagers. The home was surprising bright with modern furnishing. It had everything we needed. David and Gudrun could not have been more helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. It's located in a quiet street and 2 minutes walk to a coastal path which makes a lovely evening stroll. Five minute drive to the centre of Reykjavik or you can walk it. There's ample parking. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Great accomodation, out of the way location

Accomodation was clean and very stylish. Located right next to the beach and a lovely walking path. Quite a bit out of Reykjavik, min 40mins walking and 25mins walk to closest pick up point for tours. Better suited to 2 guests than 5. Final bed was a cot and not enough played and cutlery for more than 2 people. Kitchen is basically equipped would be nice if some tea or coffee was available. Accomodation always warm. No supermarket near by, one restaurant within walking distance. Host was reliable at replying and no real issues throughout our stay.
