About Alison & Stuart Chambers

We are a mature couple with 3 grown up children and a lovely Grandson. This photo is of our daughter Laura and Alison at Laura's Graduation at St.Andrews university in 2016. We like to travel and have used Homeaway and owners direct to book some lovely accommodation in France, Spain and Italy. Alison like's to play badminton, swim and when on holiday kayak, Stuart love's golf, football and sailing.

Why Alison & Stuart Chambers chose Edinburgh.

Back in 2008 we purchased this property for our eldest son to use while studying at Edinburgh university. In 2010 we decided to share it with holiday makers wanting to make the most of its location.

It is so close to the city center and yet is in a nice quiet neighbourhood, it has a lovely spacious sunny sitting room with large windows looking out to views of Arthur's seat, the Scottish Parliament and Calton Hill. The separate dining kitchen is sunny in the mornings and afternoon and we were most impressed with the two large bedrooms. The addition of the off road car park made it perfect for both our family and guests alike.

Within 2 minutes walk you can visit Holyrood House (Queens Edinburgh Residence) or relax in Holyrood park, Climb Arthur's Seat or start the walk to Edinburgh castle up the Royal mile.

Our guests all comment on the Fantastic location, so near to all Edinburgh has to offer, shops, museums, Theater's, bars and restaurants, plus it's within a very short walking distance to public transport.

Great location for Hogmanay.

We visited Edinburgh for Hogmanay 2017/18. Couldn’t have picked a better spot! We were across the street from Holyrood, of course, but beyond that, we had a view of several landmarks! We used Mary Queen of Scots BathHouse as our marker for finding the correct entrance to the apartments to go quickly to ours. My daughter set up a viewing area to watch the sun come up over Edinburgh every morning. Those of us who didn’t stay out as late on New Years Eve were able to see the midnight fireworks from a window upstairs, so we didn’t feel like we missed a thing. Also, it was walkable to all the events that we had signed up for.

The home itself had everything we needed, including teas and cocoa, Some light snacks to get us settled in (Tesco is walkable from here), and a washing machine (no dryer but there are places to hang clothes by heaters. They dried quickly).

Communication was excellent. Location was perfect. When I visit a location, I want to feel a part of it. I’m not into hotels or “new & shiny” places. This let my family really live in and be a part of Edinburgh for 1 & 1/2 weeks, which was exactly what I wanted.

Thank you again for the use of this home. We hope to be able to visit again in the future. My family and I fell completely in love with Scotland.

Lovely Flat in a great location with a most caring owner!

We chose this flat because we had stayed in this general area before. It is most convenient to the Lothian Buses and a short walk to Waverley Station, not to mention at the foot of the Royal Mile and across the road from Holyrood Palace. Alison was very helpful prior to our arrival and we found the flat in excellent condition. A "welcome package" was provided which helped us after a long flight. This is a nice quiet location and even when staying alone I felt safe at night. It is a comfortable, clean flat with just about everything you could want or need during your stay. Would highly recommend this flat. Thanks Alison you are a wonderful hostess!

Wonderful location and host

From the moment we booked Alison was in contact and remained so all of the way through our stay. She went beyond expectations with help on our travels throughout Scotland and shared her wealth of local information. The unit is in a perfect location at the quiet end of the Royal Mile yet we were able to see the Tattoo fireworks every evening from our window then got to see them in person one night. We drove in so the reserved parking was perfect for us and we found that rare in this area. The unit was very clean and complete. The basics that she provided meant that we had at least tea coffee and toast for the morning including the milk for a proper cup. My only hesitation in the review is the exterior care as you walk up. My initial view was not positive but this has more to do with exterior care and maintenance that are beyond their control. Just know that once you enter the unit I believe you will find a warm welcoming place to enjoy the sights in Edinburgh.

Wonderful location and homeowners!

The accommodations were immaculate and inviting. The location was fantastic.. Walked to everything. The Fringe Festival was in full swing and the street performers were a pleasure to watch. Alison was in touch throughout our stay and answered all sightseeing and other questions. Thank you again! And they credited our security deposit within a few days!

Close to the Mile and many shops

We had a very nice stay and enjoyed every minute. The added Milk and Cookies was a plus ;) Home was clean and tidy and plenty of space to move around. Was very accommodating. Also the Beautiful weather made all the difference.

Located in the Old Town of Edinburgh are the Queens official residence (Holyrood House), the city's main park Holyrood Park incl Arthur's Seat, Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth, The Royal Mile & Edinburgh Castle.

Less than a 15 min walk away are Princes St, Rose St (which has many of the city's top restaurants and bars), Playhouse Theatre, National Museum of Scotland, National Gallery of Scotland and many more places of interest. The Omni centre complex with multi-screen cinema, bars and restaurants is again no more than a 15min walk.

Beaches of East Lothian are within a 30 min drive and there are numerous (30+) golf courses within a 20 mile radius including several municipal pay and play. For the ultimate test St Andrews (90 mins) and Gleneagles (60mins) are within easy reach.
