Popular apartment home in Central London

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
1 bedroom with large comfortable bed, sleeps 4, with free Wi-Fi internet

Ideally located apartment for both Tourist and Professional. A very comfortable apartment with a garden terrace in a quiet Victorian street. The apartment is spacious with a large and well equipped kitchen. High quality large bed and linens. Free Wi-Fi internet. Fully equipped for breaks of 5 days or longer.

The apartment is in Zone 1 and is very convenient for local neighbourhood shops and services.

This has the feel of a local neighbourhood but is also close to the city centre: The neighbourhood offers an excellent and varied selection of local pubs, restaurants, cafés, shops, local library, dry cleaning and a large supermarket.

At the same time getting to the West End and many other areas is easy and quick. Fast 24 hour buses to the West End are 100m away. Vauxhall's zone 1 underground station is 5 - 10 minutes' walk and is 4 stops from Oxford Circus. You can also walk along the River Thames to Westminster and the South Bank arts centre.

I want you to enjoy your stay and to be safe and comfortable. Please check our reviews for feedback from fellow travellers.

About the Owner

I have lived in the London area for many years and know Vauxhall extremely well. I am a composer and conductor in this city of many great musicians. Originally the attractions of the apartment for me included the quiet location and easy access to the excitement of the West End and the cultural centres.

Stunning, extraordinary, truly like home!

  • 5 of 5

I have traveled my entire career throughout the world, stayed at fabulous hotels, rented a variety of apartments and this is my absolute favorite! From the moment I walked in the door, I felt at home. The fireplace was a nice touch on a couple cool, rainy nights during my stay. Nestled in the nice sitting chair, I stayed home one evening paging through several of the interesting selection of books on hand—including some especially fascinating books highlighting London and even Vauxhall’s story. You will find a comfortable bed with great linens, a tub for a nice soak, and then one great kitchen. The flat is well-appointed and the photos truly depict the place. The neighborhood is quiet, only a short walk from restaurants, a full-service grocery, and London transport just minutes away whether you want to travel by bus or by tube. I moved around the city easily and, while I was there for holidays, I intend to stay when I return for business later this year. I was at the theatre in no time. Make sure to sample one of the Portuguese restaurants nearby. Landlords were wonderful. What a fantastic find! Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this apartment! Spring is near and next time I look forward to enjoying the garden. So, make your booking. Just make sure it is not a week I want to return.

A comfortable apartment in an ideal location for access to Central London

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is in a quiet residential street, easy to find, within walking distance of Central London, and on a bus route direct to Whitehall, Westminster, etc.

It is fully equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay - washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, wi-fi. It only has 1 bedroom, but there is a large bed- settee in the good sized living room. the large open plan kitchen diner has ample space to prepare meals, eat and entertain, with French doors giving access into a pleasant enclosed garden patio area.

The general area is renowned for its Portuguese residents and restaurants, but there are also numerous others. Those we tried were all good.

Overall, the area is pleasant and lively, and the apartment in particular is an ideal base for exploring London.

I would definitely book it again, and recommend it to others.

Beautiful and convenient

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that I wondered if the apartment in Vauxhalll would be as good as the reviews said it was-–but it was! We had four in our party, and the layout gave us the privacy we needed. The kitchen was fully furnished, so we weren't washing plates every time we turned around, as sometimes happens at some rental places. Even though the rain kept us out of the garden for the most part, the roses were in full bloom, and they were a cheerful welcome every time we walked in. Probably the biggest surprise was how very convenient the apartment was to everything in the city. We hadn't stayed near Vauxhall before and didn't know how direct the tube and bus lines were to everything. And what fun it was to be in a Portuguese neighborhood the night Portugal beat Poland in the Eurocup!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Lisa - especially for highlighting the bus and tube services. You will always be welcome in Vauxhall (although we can't always promise a Portugal win).

Well maintained and very convenient apartment

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful apartment, tastefully appointed, up-to-date, well equipped, and clean. It is in a lovely location and is within a 10 minute walk to a host of bus, train and underground options, or for walkers, within 40 minutes of Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament etc. Peter was helpful and informative with this first-time London tourist, and when the Internet crashed Terry was conscientious about contacting the provider, finding out what the problem was and keeping me informed. Both were a pleasure to deal with. For comfort , location and convenience I would highly recommend this apartment.

Excellent, exceeds expectations.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in this very nice apartment close to Vauxhall underground and central bus stations, providing easy access to anywhere in London, the UK and to Eurostar station to Paris. Terry was helpful and responsive and Peter waited for us patiently and gave us very comprehensive information.

The flat amenities are excellent and exceed the listing description.

Great flat

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I spent a little over two weeks in this flat, and I concur with all the comments already made. I was in London for work, and the transport options for work and play were really very good. Walk to the Tate Britain, Parliament, and the Brixton Food Market. Good/reasonable pubs and restaurants in the neighborhood as well. Basic grocery shopping available by the Tube stop about 10 min walk [and convenient since the stores are open until 11pm, so I could pick up food on the way home]. What I especially appreciated was being in London not far from attractions but not being in a super touristy neighborhood. It is not a bustling neighborhood like some other ones in the city, so quiet in the evening.

The flat itself is perfect for 2-3 people and looking back at the photos, it really does look like what the site shows. Bedroom is not large, but the kitchen is. The kitchen is well stocked and I was able to cook most anything. Shower requires a bit of getting used to, but no real issue. The flat is long and narrow [living room in front, then bedroom, bathroom, then kitchen in back]. Terrace nice for breakfast outside when not raining [even in May it was only usable part of the time]. Terry and his manager Peter were both very collegial and helpful.

If I end up back in London for work, I would re-rent this flat in a heartbeat. Highly recommended.

From the Owner

This flat was my home for 21 years until I began offering it for holiday rentals in 2010. I was very happy here and I now want the same for my guests. Having travelled widely, I am clear about what I need from a holiday home and I want these things to be available here.

From the Owner

It has been wonderful to see the area around the flat develop into the lively residential centre it is today. I love the peace of the place. In the hallway you might meet Philippa, our lovely neighbour upstairs, but you are unlikely to hear her. If the weather is good, the garden terrace is a little oasis in the city, facing the sun and protected by high plants.
