About the property

2 bedroom cottage sleeping 5

The cottage dates from the mid 1700’s and forms part of a lovely traditional courtyard which includes a stunning Pigeonniere. The cottage is laid out over 2 floors and on the first floor includes an impressive entrance hall, beautiful kitchen/sitting room, and utility area. Whilst on the first floor are 2 bedrooms and a modern bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and W.C. The cottage is traditionally furnished and offers bright spacious accommodation and a wealth of original features.

Le Mirail extends to 8 acres of lovely gardens and grounds which you are free to explore. Tables and chairs are readily available around the garden. There are stunning views in all directions of the surrounding countryside. In 2016 a new 12m swimming pool was built in a beautiful private setting close to the property.

Wonderful location to experience the gentle calm of the region. Comfortable accommodation of simple rustic charm. Hamish and Emma made me very welcome and were always very helpful.

A wonderfully relaxing time in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at Le Mirail and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - even managing to relax (which is saying something when travelling with a 9 week old baby!). The gite is set in the grounds of the main house where the Spencer-Nairn family live. It was great to see their friendly faces around and get lots of tips of towns to visit and places to eat & drink.

There is plenty of space and the views from the gite and by the pool are beautiful. The gite itself is very spacious and comfortable and whilst suiting us very well it would also be perfect for a larger family or two couples.

All in all we would thoroughly recommend Le Mirail and we would love to go back to the both the gite and the area again!

Just what a gite should be

  • 5 of 5

Just what a gite should be. Tasteful but low key rooms, old beams, wonderful views. Our own courtyard to eat out in. Well positioned for visiting the northern Gers and walking distance from a Plus Beau Village, and most of all, Emma and Hamish made wonderful hosts , never intrusive but always helpful and with advice and help whenever we needed it. We couldn't ask for more. Jill and Tony, Oxford , UK

Charming, cosy gite

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Le Mirail for six weeks in April and May 2015. The gite was cosy, charming, rustic and peaceful. The surrounding area is stunningly beautiful and well positioned for exploring the southwest. Hammish and Emma were hospitable and helpful. I will definitely recommend it to friends and hopefully return one day.

A wonderful three weeks at la Mirail!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful three weeks at La Mirail. Hamish and Emma are welcoming and friendly hosts. The accommodation is of a very high standard. We spent many evenings enjoying a glass of wine sitting in the garden followed by a local walk. There is a lot to do nearby, lots of hill top towns and weekly markets. Pau and Toulouse are within an hour and a half. The countryside is beautiful with abundant vineyards and fields of sunflowers. The roads are a joy to drive as they are so quiet. We'll be returning! Thank you Hamish and Emma.

Fantastic in every way

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Le Mirail was fantastic in every way - comfort, ease, beauty, peacefulness and fun! The location is great for exploring the Gers region, with many villages, towns and cultural locations nearby. The gite is beautiful, comfortable and with everything you need. The hosts could not be more helpful and provided advice, information, bikes, a tree house which our son loved, space, privacy and inclusion in farm life (our son travelling in the small tractor trailer as Hamish did some gardening!). We recommend it to couples, 2 couples, families or 1 and 2 individuals. Thank you Emma, Hamish and the girls. We hope we can come back again soon!

Nearest Airport : Toulouse and Bordeaux at 70 Miles Nearest Barpub : Larresingle at 2 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Eauze at 12 Miles Nearest Train : Agen at 35 Miles Nearest Motorway : Agen at 32 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Larresingle at 2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Atlantic Coast with stunning beaches at 100 Kilometres Car: necessary

Le Mirail is located in the heart of Gascony, the historic name of the Gers (32) department. This beautiful area of rural South West France is famous for its foie gras, stunning scenery, Armagnac and relaxed pace of life.

Condom and the surrounding villages, including Fources, Montreal and Larresingle, have a wide variety of restaurants offering wonderfully hearty Gascon food. There is a wealth of activities to undertake including walking (the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostella passes within 1 km of the property) boat trips, cycling, golf, horse riding, tennis, browsing antique shops, gliding and swimming.

Despite the stunning peaceful nature of the Gers the area is well served with flights to and from the UK via Toulouse, Bordeaux and Pau.

In addition the TGV runs to Agen, which 45 mins drive away.

This is a great area for people wanting a quiet get away from the crowds holiday. Despite this there are lots of things to do for all ages..... you just will not be harassed by large crowds, traffic jams and overly busy restaurants and shops.
