Located on the hills of the first countryside of Romagna, at 1 km from the medieval village of Dozza and 25 km from Bologna, Villa Calanco Country House is an elegant eighteenth-century country house set in a parkland with ancient trees and a farm of more than 3 hectares. The structure has just been completely renovated by the owners who have personally taken care of the details with particular care and with full respect of its history.The apartments has been carefully restored and furnished, which keep intact the charm of the rural tradition of Romagna, like the ancient terracotta, wood, raftered ceiling , antique doors and furniture, giving life to a sober and elegant style that blends the modern comforts.The comfortable and privileged geographical position allows to reach cities rich in history and art as Bologna ( 25 km), Ravenna (52 km), Ferrara (74 km), Imola ( 7 km), Faenza ( 22 km), Brisighella ( 32km) and Dozza (1 km), one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

The area offers a variety of courses related to the food and wine tradition typical of Romagna. Typical products are piadina, salami and the 'minestre', those are the first courses of handmade pasta ranging from noodles to macaroni comb (garganelli), ravioli with ricotta, tortellini. Among the main courses meat on the grill, as mutton and sausage. Everything always accompanied by the famous local wines.

COOKING CLASSES

Teresa and Antonio are glad to welcome you in their kitchen of the villa, where they organize lessons of traditional romagnola cookery with final lunch or dinner together all the family. Lasting about 4 hours and minimum 2 people.

About the Owner

Franco was born in Tuscany and has known Teresa on a trip to Africa. Both are travel enthusiasts.

In 1999, Franco, Teresa, and the kids Antonio and Anna from Tuscany are transfered in Dozza.

Franco immediately was fascinated by Villa Calanco, dwelling which since 1700 has been owned by the family of Teresa

As a restorer has personally coordinated and executed many of the restoration works that have lasted over 10 years.

Teresa, graduate in history, works at the State Archives of Imola.

Antonio study architecture at the University of Bologna, venue of Cesena and Anna study at high school in Imola.

Just xxl-relaxing

We had a very pleasant time at a very quiet and relaxing place. We were warmly welcomed and immediatly "felt at home". Looking out of our windows we appreciated the view into the garden area. If once we go to visit Emilia Romagna again, we surely stay at this place. Thanks!

Fijne plek en goed appartement

We werden goed opgevangen door Franco.Het appartement Anna is ruim, goed voorzien en netjes. In de tuin zijn diverse zitjes gemaakt met mooi meubilair in de schaduw of de zon. Het zwembad is ruim en goed verzorgd en er zijn heerlijke ligbedden rondom en parasols,

Ook kan men gebruik maken van alle informatie over de omgeving. De wijn van Franco is heerlijk en voordelig. Kortom; een heerlijke plek en prima uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan b.v.Bologna of Ravenna. Ook Dozza zelf is interessant.

Wunderschön, ruhig und freundlich

Der Gastgeber hat uns sehr nett empfangen. Die Wohnung war nicht nur stimmig und hübsch sondern auch sehr gut und praktisch eingerichtet. Die Umgebung ist idyllisch - mit schönem Weitblick, Gänsen, Ziegen und Hühnern. Dozza ist mit einem kurzem Spaziergang zu erreichen. Wir waren mit der Unterkunft mehr als zufrieden.

Grosse, sehr schön u d stilvoll eingerichtete Apartments auf einem wunderschönen Grundstück. Preis-/leistungsverhältnis sehr gut. Freundliche und zuvorkommende Vermieterfamilie. Gute Betten u d Matratzen. Gute Lage mit schönem Blick.

Dozza is situated on the crest of a hill gently down toward the Via Emilia between Bologna and Imola, Dozza looks like a touch of color, in an atmosphere outside of time. A medieval village which ancient structure is still well preserved. Dozza is famous for “The Biennal Painted Wall” during which the village becomes alive with artists coming from all over the world who paint directly on the walls of the houses. So the village, with its typical 'to zone' structure surrounded by city walls becomes a beautiful open air art gallery always visible. We also suggest to visit the wonderful and mighty fortress with the adjoining Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna, where it is possible to taste and buy the regional wines.

Dozza, is part of the club 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy', an association for promoting the great heritage of history, arts, culture, environment and traditions present in the small Italian towns which are ,by the most part, excluded from the flows of tourists.
