Spiritual place with breathtaking views
The Haiku House has a feel of being at one with the best parts of the nature. It is engulfed in rainforest yet overlooks the town called The Bottom.. It feels like having the best of both worlds of a zen resort and a close by town with amazing food and friendly locals: We enjoyed opening up the wall sized sliding glass doors feeling the breezes off the ocean. Cecee was so helpful figuring out creative solutions to our flight problems that allowed us to get here more quickly and safely without having to lose another day of travel. Having a option to rent the car was so useful. She calmed our nerves about driving on the very steep hills that make this island so beautiful and we were pros after our first trip to the restaurants on the Windward Side. We were dropping our daughter off at school on the island and she enjoyed acclimating, and studying in the office of the Haiku House. The house and the island are amazing and we will stay here every time we come back. Words cannot describe how beautiful the views are from the back deck with multiple comfortable seating areas around a serenity pool.

Family vacation
This was a fabulous home. Honestly just a gorgeous house and Cece was wonderful to work with and very attentive. This was a family trip. My husband and I, and 3 adult kids. We take a yearly scuba trip. So far this is one of our favorite rentals. If not THE favorite! The architecture was just beautiful. The view from the house was just breathtaking. We would open all the glass doors/walls of an evening and just enjoy the breeze. Truly a Haiku House. We loved the island too. Very different from other Carribean islands we have travelled to in terms of terrain and climate. Everything from a rain forest, a mountain, and an ocean experience. Lots of hiking and of course scuba. We really enjoyed the dining experiences also. I encourage you to plan your eating out. Restaurants are open and closed on random schedules. Cece can help with that. Definitely plan your dinner when first arriving. If you arrive later in the evening options can be limited. And the residents are all very kind and accommodating. It’s a long day of travel from Texas but well worth the experience.

Amazing! Magical! We will be back!
As I stated above..Amazing! Magical! We will be back! The Haiku House is so comfortable and inviting and is I stated above and well beyond the pictures you see on Vrbo. Beds, house, kitchen, dishware, showers, pool, hot tub, furniture, art work, stereo, music, ...all first class. And, it has a "million dollar view" that you will never get tired of. The Island of Saba is unique, The island structure wise is breath-taking, with a great small community feel. Diving and snorkeling is great (we did 10 dives with Sea Saba). The dining was fantastic as well. Hiking was the best ever (bring hiking poles, which we did). But, most importantly, was the care provided by the Haiku property management team...they booked our taxi to the Haiku house from the Ferry, met us on arrival, made all of our reservations for dining out, taxis, in home cook--Chef Michael, you name it.... whatever we needed...just amazing service! You will not regret a minute of your time on Saba and staying at the Haiku House...I will be back! Mark

Beautiful, architect designed house with stunning views
Our family just spent a week at Haiku House on beautiful Saba. The house is well designed and perfectly located to enjoy cooling breezes and lovely views of the ocean and town (the Bottom) below. Michael was an outstanding host, volunteering to buy groceries for us prior to our arrival due to holiday store closings. He also coordinated our car rental, dinner reservations and taxis. He made the arrival process smooth and pleasant. We felt quite pampered by him! Haiku House has three nicely decorated bedrooms with a/c for comfortable sleeping. The windows in the living room and master bedroom slide open completely, allowing the tropical breezes to blow through the house. The house has a large, comfortable office (if one sadly has to work during their stay!). We enjoyed drinks and dinner on the deck most nights during our stay. Other highlights: sunsets and stargazing from the lower deck, warming up after diving in the jacuzzi, watching the clouds blow by during brief rain showers. Saba was a very pleasant surprise! The diving is outstanding. The hiking is also very good—we particularly liked the Sandy Cruz trail which ends very close to the house. The architecture on the island is charming—red roofs, “gingerbread” trim. The locals were welcoming and seemed happy we were there (probably since Saba isn’t overrun with tourists like many other Caribbean islands). Our family has stayed in many vacation rentals over the years. We agreed that this was our favorite to date!

Saba an island or private club?
Ok, I’ve been quiet too long about my private club, Saba that I share with 1300 of my new closest friends… Anyone that lives in a small town, a suburb, a private gated community or in a condo etc. cannot have the amenities that this bespoke location has. It has a utopian element that we all search for. Here it is right in front of your eyes in Saba. The short list is that there is no unemployment, health care for all, a place to live affordably, a place where everyone knows you and is pleasant even if they disagree with you, which leads to little or no crime. They even SWEEP the streets and I mean with a broom and shovel. And best of all it’s a Tropical Island with the suns warmth, tropical breezes, fabulous dining, world class diving and yes in this day of Zika -- no mosquitoes! So how would you go about creating this and then how would you pay for this? The easy answer is fly on down and book a room or better yet a house. We first started our trips to Saba over 25 years ago staying at the Queen’s Gardens Hotel (very nice) and the more recently at the Haiku House (over the top… literally). When we stayed at the Haiku House we meet the unbelievable team of Michael and Albert whom manage the functions of the house, along with having just about every property on the island that is for sale or rent available at their real estate company SABA ISLAND PROPERTIES. There (again literally) is nothing they can’t do. Construction, Design (Albert is the Guru of Design and making the impossible come to life), Logistics, and making you feel Relaxed and Important (Michael is master of this one). They listen intently and remember your thoughts like an elephant. They epitomize the work ethic that we used to see. They represent all that Saba has to offer. We recently had to cancel all of our travel plans for this past winter and stay in the frozen north. The first thing we did once we could travel is go to Saba and have dinner with Albert and Michael and catch up. I cannot say enough great things about this duo, other than to say that if you are fortunate enough to visit your private club Saba, make sure you look up these two as they could easily trump your best concierge.

Hi. I'm Caroline Hompes, the spouse of one of the three owners of the Haiku House. I am responsible for the decoration of the house and the necessities for all our guests to make them feel as comfortable as possible. My profession in the Netherlands is interior decorator and I'm the mother of three boys. They also love to go to Saba, this precious pearl in the Caribbean.

Why they chose this property

From the first time my husband and I set foot on Saba we fell in love with the island. The friendly people and the beautiful villages. Everytime we enter the house we feel surrounded by the possitive energy of nature. That's why we want to share this unique experience with our quests.

What makes this property unique

The unique benefits of the Haiku house are total privacy, hardly no mosquito's, positive energy, no criminality, pleasant temperature and the fully equipped house gives you the luxury feeling of a 5-star hotel. Not in the last place due to the good care of our charming housemanager who will do everything to make your stay as comfortable as can be.
