Really needs a good clean and update
Firstly communication - the owner sent us a document with information, mainly rules about our stay and requirements for our stay. We made contact asking about transportation from the station or taxi numbers. Didn't really help just said taxis are waiting. This wasn't correct at the time we arrived but Amtrak ordered one. When we asked about entry code about a week before we got "2 days". We didn't have it as we were travelling and requested it and got the rules document again & no code. We finally got info a couple of hours before we got there luckily we had access to wifi.The property is nice and spacious but needed a clean and updated. E.G. your socks got filthy walking about and you have to remove shoes (rules). The kitchen was grubby, under the sink smelled of damp. As it was empty I wondered if this was a known fault. The accommodation sleeps 5 but there were 7 coat hangers. Plates are a mis match, looks like left overs from other sets, some plastic and paper. We never got 2 of the rings to work on the hob. The bathroom was dirty, full of hair in the sink trap. The towels were small, thin had large holes. The bed was uncomfortable and creaked, if 1 moved the other woke up. There was little information available to guests, we left bus timetables behind. The house is not really near anything, we're used to European letting where folks leave essential supplies, but we would have paid for milk, water, bread and a few beers given our late arrival and no transport. It says coffee is available and an assortment of teas, we found one tea bag, we had our own. Overall you got the feeling that you were just a money tree and needs weren't considered. Top tip don't use the kettle, the water tasted like mould, we used a pan.
