Podere Ampella is located in the Val Dorcia region of Tuscany easily the most scenic and unspoilt parts of Tuscany. Nestled on a hilltop between the hilltop villages of Montisi and San Giovanni the views are stunning. Waking up every morning to the smell of freshly brewed coffee looking over the Val Dorcia valley is truly amazing. Most of our guests have been back and have recommended us to their friends. Combining newly restored homes with the traditional architecture of the area gives a superb mix of old with the convenience of the new to make your stay magical. We are only 2 mins from the village of Montisi with many restaurants to choose from. San Giovanni D'asso is again 2 mins by car in the other direction. Your local butcher with freshly made local sausages, a truly brilliant baker with the mornings delights and a small supermarket for all your grocery needs you don't need to travel far. We are 30 mins from the historic centre of Siena and 10 mins from Montalcino home of Brunello di Montalcino. One of Tuscanys finest reds. Try many of the local wine tastings and lunch at the many trattorias famous for the traditional Tuscan style of cooking. Pienza you can see from your home where the English patient was filmed and The gladiator has been filmed in the fields in front of the house. What an experience not to be missed truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to stay in comfort with a magnificent view. Relax at the large swimming pool ideal for cooling off in the hot Tuscan sun. Its your holiday so enjoy it. Paola & Robert
We really enjoyed our break at Podere Ampella. The house has been renovated recently and the facilities were fantastic. The kids enjoyed the hugh pool overlooking the Val d'Orcia valley. We will never forget our holiday at Podere Ampella and will be back with friends next year.

Dear Paola,
Thank you for your email. We had an amazing week in casa marta. As we were driving there, we turned a corner along the road somewhere after Sinalunga and the scenery took our breath away. Every hillside seemed to grow in beauty and our anticipation increased as we neared Podere Ampella and it more than met our expectations. That first evening, as we sat outside in the peaceful garden, a small bat was flying around overhead and the sun was setting towards San Giovanni D'Asso, and we relaxed for the first time in a long time. The week was wonderful. The house had everything we needed and more. We were really impressed with how beautifully finished the rooms were. We travelled to many of the surrounding villages and ate some incredible food (I'm still dreaming of a restaurant we visited in Montalcino--the pasta with truffle sauce was unlike anything I've tasted before). The photo above is of the sunrise on our last day in the villa (it actually shows the table next door--I can tell because of the number of chairs used by a very large family!). I love the way the hills looked when covered with that hazy glow.
Mauro was very kind, he made some wonderful suggestions to us for places to see and was very kind throughout our stay. But now of course normal life resumes and we're back to working long hours. Thank you for all your help!
Best wishes,
