On the ground floor the property comprises a recently fitted and stunning modern family kitchen with dishwasher, washer-drier, range cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer.

Also on the ground floor are two family sized living rooms each with an open fire and television, a dining room with French doors leading out to the garden, and a WC with wash basin.

First floor

On the first floor the property comprises five bedrooms; one double with en suite shower room, a further double with wash basin, a twin room with wash basin, a twin room with bunk beds, a single bedroom and a bathroom.

The property also offers a DVD player, oil-fired central heating, a brick built barbecue, parking and is a quarter mile from the beach.

All bed linen is provided

For some of the most panoramic views of this lovely coastline stay at Orchard House, a beautiful, large, detached property only a short distance from the beach.

Orchard House stands in its own secluded orchard and garden, overlooking Start Bay and the surrounding rolling countryside. A footpath runs by the side of the house and leads onto the South West Way coastal footpath. Turn right to the ruins of the old Hallsands fishing village, Start Point lighthouse, the superb Mattiscombe and Lannacombe beaches, Prawle Point and East Portlemouth. From here you can take the passenger ferry to Salcombe opposite, with lots of sailing activities on offer. Alternatively, turn left on the footpath to the fishing village of Beesands, Torcross, Slapton Sands, Slapton Leigh, Strete, Blackpool Sands, Stoke Fleming and on to the famous naval town of Dartmouth.

Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are both approximately eight miles away. There are plenty of local pubs with excellent menus including 'The Cricket Inn' at Beesands, 'The Church House Inn' at Stockenham and 'The Millbrook' at South Pool.

Fabulous house, beautiful setting

Took the family and dogs and had a fabulous time, good fishing and swimming on the local beach, really interesting places to visit, good local restaruants. Good, happy holiday.

Lovely location for us as we like to be somewhere peaceful very nice traditional house .

We are very familiar with the area so there are no surprises some people may be put off by the access narrow and a track.

The House was perfect for us a traditional house with plenty of space well equipped kitchen and lovely view all around.

Great spot for walkers as the coast path runs at the back of the house you can walk to The Cricketers at Beesands so you don't have to to worry about having a glass of wine.

The only thing for me that would greatly improve this Holiday Home is a second shower then it would be perfect.

A comfortable house in a beautiful setting

This is a comfortable spacious house which has outstanding views of the surrounding countryside and coastline from almost every window. The approach is at the end of a farm track and there is sufficient parking for 3 cars on the drive. The house feels welcoming, is clean and well equipped. The master bedroom has an en suite shower and toilet and the other double and twin rooms each have washbasins which is handy with a larger number.Our party of 8 people included a mix of ages ranging from 9 to 89 and there was room enough for all of us to enjoy our own space. The gardens and orchard that surround the property are as lovely as the house and very tranquil after a busy day.

Hallsands is a 10 minute walk away and the coastal path is easily accessible from the property.

We met the owners at the start and end of our stay and they couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.

Sadly our week stay at Orchard House seemed to end all too quickly but we will be certain to return again.

Easter at The Orchard House

We have just spent a wonderful Easter week at The Orchard House.

I would highly recommend this property, from many points of view. The house itself is lovely, very light and spacious, and equipped to a very high standard. We particularly loved the kitchen, and the large range-style cooker, which made cooking for a large family a pleasure. Having two separate lounges was also a big bonus, so that people had plenty of space to do their own thing.

Open fires had been very kindly laid for us, but we found we didn't need these as the central heating was extremely effective.

We didn't need to take the car, to get at some beautiful walks. The South West Coast Path is a few minutes from the house, so we could get both to Start Point and to Beesands, without getting into the car. We particularly enjoyed the very spectacular path to Mattiscombe.

The orchard garden itself is beautiful, and very peaceful, if you don't feel like walking very far at all!

We also found the property extremely good value for money, and hope to return in the future.

Leuke vakantie gehad in en om Orchard House (Hallsands)

Orchard House is een mooi vrijstaand huis met prachtige vergezichten over de velden en zee. Het huis biedt voldoende ruimte aan twee gezinnen en de twee afzonderlijke woonkamers met ieder een eigen televisie bieden, bij minder goed weer, extra comfort. De keuken is goed ingericht en de eetkamer biedt voldoende ruimte aan 8 personen. De tuin om het huis is mooi aangelegd en biedt veel privacy. Wandelen direct vanuit het huis kan via het goed aangegeven Public Footpath wat direct aansluit op het prachtige Coastpath. Het (kiezel) strand is op 10-minuten loopafstand, zandstranden bevinden zich op een rijafstand van 30-45 minuten zo ook de supermarkten voor de algemene boodschappen (Kingsbridge). In de omgeving zijn mooie plaatsjes om te bezoeken en er zijn voldoende activiteiten om te ondernemen, wel handig om te weten dat de wegen heel erg smal zijn met aan beide zijden hoge heggen/landwallen die het zicht wegnemen waardoor het rijden op sommige momenten een (spannende) attractie wordt en de reistijd hierdoor aanzienlijk langer is dan verwacht. Wij hebben een hele leuke vakantie gehad in Hallsands, hebben volgens Engelse begrippen (gelukkig) goed weer gehad en daardoor veel kunnen ondernemen. Opmerking m.b.t. het huis: de bedden waren, voor ons lange Nederlanders, aan de smalle en korte kant en de 2e badkamer is niet geschikt om te douchen.
