Why On line booking at finnichcottages.com chose Scotland

Finnich Malise Estate had been little cared for for many years and presented a major and exciting challenge to us when we bought it. First priority was to repair and re-decorate the beautiful Georgian house and then to start recovering the parkland with its 200 year old trees. A separate project was to completely re build the derelict 19th century Steading buildings and convert them into 4 holiday cottages.

The projects continue with the recent planting of 9 ha of mixed Scottish woodland.

What makes this cottage unique

The uniqueness of the Finnich Malise estate which was evident to us when we first saw it, was its location. Close enough to Glasgow and Stirling but positioned in its own 200 acres of grounds to give total peace and tranquillity, with stunning views to the western North over the National Park and with easy access to Loch Lomond , 5 miles away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Finnich cottage is just ideal for travellers who wish to explore the Trossachs and also spend some time in Glasgow, both being worth visiting.

Our family is used to exchanging homes because we find you seldom feel at home in rentals but Finnich cottage offers both comfortable, cosy atmosphere and high standard equipment ,besides the owners were always friendly and willing to help.Last but not least is the location itself: first the cottage is situated in a peaceful rural estate and the views on the mountains are gorgeous. An address we highly recommend

Excellent standard and full of character.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay for 4 nights in Oak Cottage. The cottage itself was beautifully furnished and equipped, and there was a folder of useful local information that proved lifesaving!

We had 3 under 5s with us who were also catered for well. They very much enjoyed the mini cottage and sand pit, as well as the swing and shoot.

Although the weather was typically scottish, there was plenty to do nearby- a 'fairy trail' was a great hit with the kids, and for a rural location amenities are surprisingly close-by.

The cottages were in almost immaculate condition, and the housekeeper (Mira) was incredibly accommodating and friendly.

I'd highly recommend a stay for anyone looking for a peaceful family holiday.

Finnich Malaise is such a special place

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from spending a week in lovely Oak Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with comfortable beds and super cosy duvets. The owners have lovingly restored the steading and do everything they can to ensure that your have everything you need while you are with them.

We ate in different restaurants in different towns each day, Stirling, Luss, Lomond Shores, Glasgow all a short, scenic drive away. However we were glad to get back in the afternoon to the peace and special atmosphere of Finnich. Lots of interesting walks and wildlife and stunning, snow capped mountains. We can't wait to return in the autumn. E and A Paterson and Beanie the dog

What Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our 21 year old daughter. We were overawed by the stunning scenery. My husband couldn't wait to get his walking boots on. We loved Oak Cottage and its immediate surroundings. We had lovely days out in Glasgow and Edinburgh and a trip across Loch Lomond to the picturesque village of Luss. As it was June all the flowers were in bloom and were so colourful. We also went to the Bird's of Prey centre at Balloch and had a lovely evening meal at the Oak Tree Inn at Balmaha. We enjoyed the games room immensely and played many a game of table tennis of an evening. We would like to thank our host for all her hard work making the cottage so comfortable and also for the bottle of wine.

Superb cottage in idyllic setting

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent holiday in this lovely cottage. The beds were comfortable, lots of storage space, clean throughout. The bathroom was great and the kitchen well equipped and we had everything we needed. The views from the living room of the mountains was a highlight as were the walks in the estate. We were pleased with our welcome...thanks for the wine! Lots of maps and information in the games room. The area is fantastic....so much to do even on rainy days. Good pubs within a few miles so eating out was easy.we were there as a couple but for a family it is ideal. Very safe and interesting for children. We climbed Ben Lomomd and visited Glasgow and Stirling as well as enjoying lovely walks around the lochs. I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends and hope to go back again.Oak cottage has a lovely patio outside which feels very private. The TV reception and wifi are both excellent. There is a barbecue but you need some Scottish sun for that! All in all, this is a great place to stay.
