LunaMia 4, recommended for 2 to 4 persons

110 Sqm. generous balcony with an amazing view over to the mountains and the castle Neuschwanstein, also towards the old town of Fuessen and the Alps in the background, facing South. One bedroom has a king size bed, the other one a queen size bed, both bedrooms have direct access to the bathroom. The generous bathroom has floor heating, a big bathtub and a rainforest shower. A generous living room with a 17th Century “Kachelofen”, a bamboo floor with a great kitchen and a comfortable seating area, with a queen size sleeping possibility. The bedrooms have tiled floors, Flat screen TV´s with Satellite connection and many international channels. The Kitchen has 4 Ceran cooking fields & an oven, a water boiler, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher, microwave and a refrigerator with water and ice cube dispenser and freezer.

LunaMia is situated in a sunny corner of Schwangau/Horn, the closest part of Schwangau to the Castles and to Fuessen. We are right on the famous cycling track from the Bodensee to the Koenigsee and on the Via Claudia Augusta (the ancient Roman road that led from the Po River lowlands and the Adriatic Sea all the way to Bavaria and the Danube). Our street, Frauenbergstraße has little traffic. The house and gardens are oriented south westwards. The castles Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau, the Alps and surrounding lakes sculpt our fairytale landscape in summer as in winter. The Allgaeu, especially Schwangau is visitor friendly all year around. The castles are our main attraction, just 3km away – a 20 minute walk across the Bavarian prairie or a 2 minute drive by car or bus. In summer, just a 5 minute walk or bike ride away from our house there is a choice of 3 lakes to swim or sail in.

Via Claudia Augusta: The Via Claudia Augusta has become a bridge joining and blending cultures, places and emotions. The Bavarian itinerary of 160km invites us to leave our watches at home to explore places and landscapes from a fresh perspective, attentive to the colours, subtle nuances, fragrances and flavours of the history that permeates everything here.

The Forggensee, the Schwansee, the Bannwaldsee, the Hopfensee and the Weißensee are all in hiking and biking distance from LunaMia. There you can swim and sunbathe or ice-skate

The Zugspitze, the Wieskirche, the Castle Linderhof and the Abbey Ottobeuren are all worth a day trip.

Austria, Tirol is just a few kilometres away from Schwangau and offers many great day trip possibilities.

Huts & Cabins: The Drehhütte, once a log cabin for the lumberjacks in the area, now a great place to trek to with a super atmosphere and great Bavarian food. After strengthening oneself it’s a further ideal starting point for longer treks into the mountains nearby. In winter the trail back down into the valley is a great ride with the sledge!

The Bleckenau, my personal favourite! The hunting lodge of King Ludwig II., lies cradled in a lovely mountain valley, directly behind the Castle Neuschwanstein in the natural reserve of the Ammer mountains at 1167m above sea level. Although the Bleckenau lies in an alpine terrain, reaching it is not so difficult. We walk up there with our children several times a year (2hours) and if you tire on the way you can flag down the transfer van. It is also possible to reach the Bleckenau from the Tegelberg using the cable car and then walking down the back of the Tegelberg – absolutely flabbergasting views and all downhill.

AWESOME-we wanted to stay a month!!”

We rented both Luna Mia 4 and Luna Mia 5 (they're adjoined if you need it!) We had 9 family members. Heidi was our contact and she couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful. We locked ourselves out once and she came right over to let us in - gave us tips about what to do around town and was just delightful! We highly recommend these apartments and the town of Schwangau is incredibly quaint, castles and activities if you want them, or just relaxing and enjoying the town. It was an amazing experience.

All our apartments are new, decorated with a mix of modern and antique high standard furniture, high quality kitchens, bathrooms and mattresses. Close by there are 2 excellent restaurants, that will fulfil any culinary wishes. The quiet environment will allow you to relax from your daily routine at home and work, just enjoy the atmosphere, the good air and excellent mountain water when you open the tap to drink or take a shower. Spoil yourself with breakfast in the garden or at your bedside. In the basement there is a large wash room with washing machines, dryers and an iron. There is a second sports room with access for everyone, to place sports equipment such as; skis, sledges or bicycles.
