Lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 8 adults, 4 children aged 10 to 15, plus dogs. We all really enjoyed our stay. Plenty walking and cycling, visits to Landmark. the Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore (make sure you visit, it's great!) and Loch Insh where the kids had a dip! House comfortable and warm. Glenfeshie is beautiful - watched eagles hunting the ridge one day. Lots of good memories to take home.

Perfect property and location

  • 5 of 5

The house was just perfect for our group of 9. More than enough bedrooms and each was very well furnished.

Downstairs the main living areas were spacious, comfortably furnished, kitchen fully equipped, large dining room with superb views over the surrounding countryside.Central heating kept the house comfortably warm and living area had its log fire. Super to sit there and watch the birds feeding, the red squirrels running about and the ponies just over the fence.

Such a peacefull location

Stunning property with everything you need and more.

  • 5 of 5

Caroline met us upon arrival and welcomed us into the house with freshly made shortbread biscuits, which was fantastic after a very long journey.

We spent our Christmas in the house with 8 adults and five children aged 11, 7, 6, 4 and a 3 year old and a dog. The house was plenty big enough for all of us and well equipped for everything we needed. The bedrooms were plenty big enough with great size ensuites. Downstairs was very homely with a fantastic log burner. The views whilst eating at the dining room table were stunning. Even more so when it was snowing. Dining room table was big enough to fit all 13 of us round which was great for Christmas day.

We would highly recommend March House to everyone. There is plenty to do in and around the house with lots outdoor activities close by. Stunning woodland walks close to the property too.

Although Caroline lived right next to the house, we barely saw her and we had plenty of privacy. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Wonderful base in the Highlands for family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We were nine people, three generations, ages 2-1/2 to 75. March House was a perfect home base for our family to be together for a week and to explore a beautiful and historic part of the world. My wife and I enjoyed waking up and seeing three adult children standing outdoors in the early morning light, cups of coffee in hand and looking quietly out at the neighboring sheep. Feshiebridge was a quiet alternative to the bustle of Aviemore-- we were in that town only once, shopping at the Tesco, and after that we opted instead to rely on the Co-op in quieter Kingussie; yes, it was a more limited selection but certainly adequate without the massive traffic jams. The house itself was comfortable, with plenty of room. We were there in mid-August but with lots of rain and we really enjoyed the wood stove in the evenings and the ample supply of dry firewood. We ate breakfast in the house most days, although one morning we visited the nearby Potting Shed for tea and cakes—highly recommented! Lunchtime usually found us on the road; we cooked a few evening meals at the house, including a last-night barbecued meal on the grill, and ate out the other times. Our day trips took us as far away as Dornoch and Dunrobin Castle to the north, Urquhart Castle on the far side of Loch Ness, and Elgin Cathedral and a series of tiny villages on the coast north of Aberdeen. Closer to home, we loved hiking the Frank Bruce Sculpture Trail, watching the tubers go down the rapids on the Feshie, sampling the outdoor activities at Rothiemurchus, exploring historic sites in Kingussie... And each night, we returned to comfortable beds, a large dining room table, sofas close to the wood stove, plenty of spaces to relax, share our stories, and hang out. Oh, and the WiFi easily kept up with many electronic devices. Upon our arrival, Caroline greeted us with freshly-baked shortbread and gave us a tour of the house, and she worked closely with us to manage the return of our deposit afterwards.

Nice location, nice and peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

Lots of outdoor activities in the area, forest on your doorstep, good for walking and just relaxing.

Plenty of visitor attractions in the Cairngorm area for all the family.

The house was comfortable for our six adults, and three children, and cosy with the log fire in the evening.

With the backdrop of Craig Mhigeachaidh (the whispering mountain) in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, Caledonian pinewoods sheltering the house to the north and extensive views of Glen Feshie stretching far to the south, it's a truly unique location. The house is surrounded by spectacular scenery, wildlife, and birds with daily visits from red squirrels, woodpeckers, mountain hair and the occasional pine marten. Unusual native pine forest birds including crested tits and cross bills also visit the garden.

Local attractions are varied and plentiful; soar the clouds in the peace of a glider; make a splash at Loch Insh water sports activity centre with cafe and restaurant; go wild at Kincraig's Highland Wildlife Park where the polar bears are the star attractions; indulge in the best cakes around at the Potting Shed at Inshriach Nursery surrounded with bird feeders; mount up at Alvie riding stables with treks over local estates; visit the high mountain tops on the Cairngorm funicular railway with skiing in winter; loose golf balls on the 6 courses within a 15 mile radius; family friendly adventures at Landmark Forest Adventure Park; extensive mountain bike routes out the door and downhill mountain trails at Laggan Wolftrax; sample the Speyside Malt whisky trail; hike low level and mountain paths; shooting and fishing at Rothiemurchus estate; enjoy spotting the Moray Firth Dolphins; visit the world famous ospreys at Loch Garten and Insh; see the UK's only free roaming reindeer herd in their natural habitat at the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre and no visit is complete without a trip on the Strathspey Steam railway.
