About this property

Midcentury-Modern Garden Level Apartment

Entire downstairs apartment of a two-level home. There is a private entrance, your own full kitchen & bath with shower. Home is on a hillside. Nestled on one acre in a prime Santa Rosa location surrounded by oak, bays, olive, and fir trees.

The apartment is approximately 900 square feet and is the lower level of a single family home. The upstairs and downstairs living quarters are divided by a stairway and a privacy wall with french doors (no lock).

Apartment features a living room, full kitchen with bar, a bedroom with closet and window, another room with closet that isn't technically a bedroom because there is no window. There is a laundry room that also shares a space with the bathroom and a stall 2.5x3 (narrow!) shower.

You have your own patio that stretches the length of the house and includes a hammock, garden dining and views to the expansive lot around. The home is newly remodeled with concrete floors, new interior paint, and modern furnishings. Turkey, deer and squirrels love to come up to the patio and say hello.

Two things that we will ask you to confirm upon booking:
1. The property is a wooded hillside with a lot of uneven terrain. Parking is away from the house so it's a bit of a hike. Will the uneven terrain be a problem for anyone in your party?
2. Sound from baby and KID living noises will be heard so if you're sensitive to this, this is probably not the space for you.

Great location and friendly and helpful host
We had a great time staying at this property. Nena was very friendly and helpful for our entire stay. We enjoyed her restaurant and winery suggestions. The check in letter was really helpful packed with information. We really enjoyed being greeted by the deer 🦌 every night coming home from our adventures.

A superb choice
As advertised, especially the kitchen. We enjoyed walks in the neighborhood, the front sitting area, and the other amenities. But the key benefit are the hosts-they care about the guests, and their needs

Lovely setting
We were looking for a space that would allow us security, a bit of local flavor and the ability to just kick back. We found a well appointed apartment with an excellent host who made sure all was in order with the accommodations, who provided very good suggestions for local restaurants and places of interest and who otherwise left us on our own while being available if there were questions or issues. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you Nena.

Pleasant stay in the country
My wife and I enjoyed our month stay. The rental is located in a safe, quiet residential area about two miles northeast of downtown Santa Rosa. The lower level of her home has been converted to one large rental apartment. It has no stairs. The entrance is located behind the home; entry is through the patio sliding glass door. The rental was extremely clean. The living room held a large, comfortable 4 person sofa, a flat screen tv (netflix and hulu+hbo was included), coffee table, a rocking chair and lamps. The kitchen has everything you need , and a kitchen bar with four stools. There is a small eating area that holds a small table with two chairs. The master bedroom holds a comfortable full bed and two side tables. The other bedroom has a twin size bed. The bathroom has a a small shower, toilet and sink. There is plenty of water pressure and hot water. The washer and drier adjoins the bathroom. The air conditioner kept the apartment very comfortable. The wifi/internet was very stable and problem free. There is a very large, covered patio outside the door entrance. There was some house noise from above but we didn't find it a problem. The house was very quiet between 7:30 pm and 7 am so sleeping wasn't a problem. There is parking for one sedan at the bottom of a steep and narrow driveway. If you are driving an rv or pulling a trailer you should call Nena for parking advice as there is no street parking. Nena was very nice and very helpful but still maintained our privacy.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi! We are a professional couple who like to travel and meet new people. We are respectful of people's homes and try to leave the homes we stay in as clean as we found them.

Michael & Nena: We own and run a company that supplies wineries, breweries and distilleries equipment for producing their products - such as tanks, pumps, presses, bottling equipment, etc. Our store is in Santa Rosa. As local business owners we are enamored with this place and this community. We have discovered a vibrant, gorgeous and diverse area where we work near orchards & vineyards during the week and in the evening and on weekends we hike, go to beaches, movie theatres, forests and countless wineries and restaurants. It is our home and we love it!

Kids: Born and raised in Santa Rosa. One is a contented 4 year old. He loves meeting new people, reading books, mandarin oranges, crusty bread, and really food of any kind. The other is a playful 2 year old who loves to sleep in late, tea parties, dancing, making up songs, sparring with her brother, and being chased by her papa. Both are very happy kids that are in bed by 7 and have slept 12 hours a night since they were 6 months old.

Why they chose this property

This home was built in 1962 and even though it's mostly updated there are still many details that help keep its charm. The property is on 3-acres of wooded land that is will be developed in 2022 & 2023. There is a ton of privacy because there aren't homes around and a definite feel of being in a wooded reserve.
