'Lazybones' is a private villa with a sea view, its own pool, 3 patios and a fenced in garden providing plenty of privacy. With the constant South East coast breeze, the villa stays cool throughout the day and is ideal for both couples or groups looking for a relaxing or an active holiday. It is also suitable for families too as the villa contains a playroom, has a dartboard and basketball net and there is ample room in the garden to play ball games or chill out on the internet as the villa also has Superfast Fibre Optic WiFi. There is also Cable TV plus a great selection of DVD's including children's DVDs. The downstairs patio, upstairs patio and both bedrooms 1 & 2 all have sea views. The monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa are very entertaining and are a favourite attraction for most guests.

About Fiona Goodsell

We are Steve & Fiona Goodsell and we have one son, Scott, who is 16 years old. We live in Wales but sometimes dream of moving to Barbados because of it's friendliness, slow pace of life and fabulous climate all year. We originally visited Barbados for our honeymoon in 1994 but could not resist returning time and time again. Steve runs his own Property Services Company and Fiona is a part-time administrator. Whilst in Barbados, Steve enjoys watching a local cricket match, fishing off Skeetes Bay, or in the evening he can be found drinking rum and playing dominoes with the locals. Fiona's favourite day out is a visit to The Crane Hotel for lunch or relaxing at Bottom Bay/Crane Beach. Scott likes to play in the pool, go to the beach or sail on a catamaran and swim with the turtles.

Fiona Goodsell purchased this villa in 2006

Why Fiona Goodsell chose Saint Philip

We discovered the villa half built in 2005 and although we did not intend to take on a building project at that time, it was an opportunity not to be missed, as it was in an idyllic peaceful location and the internal layout was great. So we knew that this would be ideal place for us but also a place that guests would enjoy because of it's privacy and chance to experience the real Barbados including monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa. A walk across country to Skeetes Bay has great views across Culpepper Island and up to East Point Lighthouse. The East Coast is on our doorstep and a short drive away is St John's church and the view from there over to Bathsheba is stunning. A visit to The Roundhouse in Bathsheba is not be missed and neither is the view from Cherry Tree Hill.

What makes this villa unique

Privacy & Peacefulness making it suitable for couples but it is also a very social villa too as it is large enough for 2 families to share. There are 3 separate patios so it can be as social or as quiet as each guest would like. This location gives guests the chance to experience the real Barbados and most guests love seeing the monkeys playing in the trees alongside the villa.

Relaxation at Lazybones

  • 5 of 5

Many thanks to Fiona for being such an awesome host and allowing our family to stay in their lovely villa. Fiona was very accommodating in every way, she even helped us get a good deal on a rental car. We would also like to thank Sheila and Eric as well, we had to call upon each of them once and they both responded straight away.

Lazybones is the perfect place to be lazy and relax. The villa is located in a very calm and peaceful area alongside of the ocean and away from the city. Our family of four had plenty of space and felt right at home but without AC and Cable TV. The nice breeze throughout the night made it very comfortable to sleep however you will definitely want to plan to be out and about during the heat of the day or you could keep cool in the pool. Not being able to watch the local news or anything of interest on the one TV channel sometimes made for a long night and was definitely missed as we had our morning coffee. I would highly suggest installing some form of Cable TV.

The monkeys were out and about, it was really cool to see them. The spring was nice and the walk over to the ocean was amazing. Barbados is a beautiful island with plenty of things to do. You will definitely need to hire a car to get around and be prepared for the bumpy roads and pedestrians owing the roads as if they have bumpers to protect them from your vehicle. I saw that jokingly, however, it’s true. We made it a point to explore the whole island in a very short time. Miami Beach was my favorite because there was a shower available to wash the sand off which allowed us to continue to explore after the beach without having to go back to the villa first.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at lazybones and would definitely recommend to others. Thanks again to Steve and Fiona for allowing us to relax at lazybones.

Owner's Response: Thanks Sharon for providing feedback and your great comments. We are really pleased your family enjoyed their stay. I ordered Cable TV a couple of weeks ago and are just waiting for the Company to install it so thanks for confirming it is preferable to have it. Miami beach is one of our favourite beaches too so glad you discovered it and enjoyed spending time there. Thanks again for your recommendation to other guests & best wishes for many more happy warm holidays. Fiona, Steve & Scott

perfect family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from 2 weeks at lazybones with family and must say it was perfect! the villa had everything you needed plus more. communication prior to the trip was very efficient couldn't fault the quick responses and helpfulness from Fiona, nothing seemed to much of a problem. on arrival we were greeted by Sheila who was even more so lovely! she had been and got us the essentials that we requested prior to the trip as it was late Sunday and the shops were shut. we had a minor problem whilst there but a quick phone call to Sheila and she was straight out and the problem sorted the next day so efficient! the pool is a great touch for those days where you don't want to do anything. we hired cars which if you want to get around the island is a must however there was a bus stop at the end of the development which was pretty frequent, we would definetly be returning again as we all had such an amazing time! thank you so much!!

Nice place for our family getaway

  • 4 of 5

Nice upper deck, nice big kitchen, cool layout, can see ocean from a few areas.

Quite a few thoughtful amenities. Our family enjoyed it. The pool was perfect for our small group. Bedding accommodations were just right. Plenty of closet space.

Breezy most of the day. Cool at night....we loved it. A few visits from the neighboring monkeys was thrilling. Yard was nicely done. Plenty of natural lighting.

Carport parking was a nice provision. Overall--- one of our nicest vacations...thank you.

Would have given 5 star but: place needed thorough cleaning (lots of dust bunnies), exterior of house and decking needed fresh coat of paint or powerwash (could just be ocean air mold). Master shower needs diverter repaired, as well as mold in shower,

Nothing too extreme. Quite a bit of traffic on dirt road (visitors to natural spring in mangrove - next to house). Management was very accommodating and pleasant. We would come back.

Lazybones: a real gem !

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have just come back from Lazybones after a week stay in this villa. Everything was perfect, the house is exactly as shown on the pictures and has everything you need to have relaxing and comfortable moments. We really enjoyed our stay in Lazybones, though it was really too short... We rented a car to go around the island and enjoy the numerous beaches... We definitely recommend this location to anyone who wants to enjoy peaceful and quiet moments of this tremendous Bajan island.

Thanks to Fiona for her precious tips and help to get a discounted rental car.

We hope to come back soon!

Peacefully & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This is our third visit to Lazybones & what more can I say other than we just love it here, the villa is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, it's so peacefully & relaxing - it is also very spacious & well equipped.

Yes you do need a car although there is a bus route at the end of the road - we love to visit different parts of the island so a car is very useful for us, even though this is our third time we feel that there are still places we haven't been to.

Marco Polo bar & grill a lovely place to eat, great atmosphere & food, this is not far from The Crane - we also went to East Point Grill, also a great place for food & over looks the Atlantic

We hope to stay at Lazybones again soon.

Tiamai Catamaran is a definite must, we do one every time we visit Barbados.

We would definite recommend Lazybones as a great villa to stay in.

Relaxation...home from home...ideal for families

  • 5 of 5

Lazybones was a perfect place to stay to experience beautiful Barbados! We loved the fact that we were in amongst the locals, giving us an opportunity to see everyday life in Barabdos. We hired a car for our two week stay and it was definately needed. Whilst there are regular buses having a car with young children was perfect way for us to see the island at our own pace.

Lazybones itself is a lovely villa perfect for a family or couples. The pool is an ideal size and was regularly cleaned for us. Eric next door provided us with lots of local knowledge and places to see and things to do. Sheila, housekeeper, was also extremely friendly and helpful for us.

Two weeks at lazybones was not enough time for us and none of us were ready to leave. Fiona ensures that the villa has everything that you could need. Days spent at the villa included lounging about in the hammocks,. Watching the monkeys play in the late evening sun or just soaking up the sun with a lovely sea breeze to help cool us off!

Most places were within a 20/30 minute drive and the highway is an experience within itself!!

The visitor book in lazybones provides you with lots of ideas for places to go and see and restaraunts to eat out at.

We could not fault our stay at Lazybones and the communication that we had between Fiona prior to and after our stay.

If you are looking for two weeks of blissful relaxing sunshine then this is a place not to be ignored!

We hope to return in the future.

Thank you Fiona for allowing us to experience Lazybones....we had a fab time!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing such a detailed review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Lazybones and that you made the most of your stay by hiring a car and travelling around the island to get a feel for the real Barbados.
