19th Century Provencal Bastide, Infinity pool and magnificent views

Our house is located at the head of a valley, facing south with views for miles towards The Massif des Maures and the coast. It sits in a tranquil position in 16 acres of its own land, yet is a short distance (1km) from one of the more beautiful villages in Provence. It has been lovingly and stylishly converted to a very high standard while still retaining its original Provençal features. There are high beamed ceilings and travertine floors throughout. The house benefits from a large open plan kitchen living room with a Lacanche style cooking range and open fire. The kitchen spills out through French doors to a large terrace with BBQ. Beyond the terrace is a large infinity pool with stunning views down the valley.

There is Sky TV, DVD, wireless internet and ipod speakers.

We loved it!

My friends and I spent a week at the Bastide in August and it was everything we had hoped for. We spent weeks searching for the perfect accommodation in Provence and were not disappointed when we arrived.

The Bastide is located on a hill-side with a gorgeous view of the region. It is a 5 minute drive to the village of Cotignac, which was like something out a story book, and while it did cater to visitors, Cotignac most certainly did not have that tacky touristy feel.

The Bastide itself was beautifully yet simply decorated. It was stylish and had all mod-cons and yet still managed to have tonnes of character. Everything we needed was there when we arrived, including bed-linen, towels, laptop, sound-system, dishwasher, and washing machine. All we had to do was bring the food and the wine!

The infinity pool was the cherry on top - there is nothing better than lazing in the pool reading a trashy book with a glass of sparkling rosé overlooking such a sublime view and feeling as if you are million miles away from the rat-race!

Our meet-and-greeters were super friendly and helpful, and gave some really useful information about restaurants, markets, shops, attractions etc. nearby.

We hope very much to visit the Bastide again, we have some fantastic memories of this place.

Fantastic location brilliant house

My family and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Johns fantastic house.....and we loved it!!! It was so peaceful, no neighbours, so the kids (9 and 7) could shout and scream all they wanted! A fantastic setting overlooking beautiful countryside. The house has everything what you need. Internally it's a fantastic old beamed house with plenty of space. Outside is brilliant, if you have kids like ours they loved it in the swimming pool, the table tennis, Jenga and the open space. Wherever you sit you are always close to the pool so you can watch the kids. You can walk into Cotignac, if you go the right way, it takes about 25 minutes. Or it's a short 10 min drive with loads of parking and never too busy. Cotignac is a must place to visit, the place is full of history. It's very french and the people are a delight, but booking restaurants is recommended as you will struggle to just turn up in the high season. The surrounding towns are all worth a visit.

If you want to get away from the day to day stress and strains of life then I would recommend this place

Amazing house with breathtaking views!!

I spent a week here with a group of friends and we absolutely loved it!! The house is perfectly located with breathtaking views across the valley, yet it is only a couple of minutes drive or short walk into the beautiful village of Cotignac (the walk took us about 1/2 an hour from the path at the back of the house).

The house itself was very stylish with travertine floors, wooden beams and modern fittings. Outside there was a lovely terrace where we ate most of our meals, good sized gas BBQ, a table tennis table, plenty of loungers and seating and of course the gorgeous infinity pool with views looking down the valley! Couldn't recommend it enough, we will definitely be back!!

Stunning place for a relaxing chilled holiday.

We loved our week at Johns property just outside Cotignac, fabulous setting, secluded but close enough to enjoy the hill top walk into town for the bustling weekly local market. Total privacy, incredible views and stylish accommodation with all you need including a wonderful pool, table tennis, comfortable loungers, whether you want the sun or shade. We popped in to the village to collect fresh croissants from the delicious bakeries each morning and ate out in the evenings at several charming restaurants.. Virginia and Glen could not have been more helpful

A memorable week in a fantastic location

The house is lovely, very well restored, with all the facilities one could hope for - including wi fi in the middle of nowhere!

The property was immaculate and everything worked well. The manager and his wife were more than helpful and were both charming. We were recommended (and thoroughly enjoyed) La Table Des Coquelicots Restaurant, and the Creperie Sarrazire. Cotignac itself is delightful, with a weekly market that is well worth a visit. Good local shops with supermarkets within 5 miles, and a new Spar just South of Cotignac.

Visits to Gorges de Verdon and Sillans-la-Cascade are a must, and we would (and have) recommended the property.

Fabulous secluded getaway.

We went as a family back in September and we loved it so much we're going back this September. They say location, location, location and this lovely Bastide ticks all the boxes. Privacy, a lovely house, a pool to die for and magnificent views. Lots of character and has had a sympathetic make over with a modern twist. There's 7 of us with an age range of 29 to 69 and it suited us all. Loved all the open plan living space and the big kitchen was great for us all to muck in, and the large gas bbq meant we barbied nearly every night. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and with 3 bathrooms there were no queues. Hilarious table tennis matches, boules, cards and chilling with a good book were the order of the day. Cotignac, a five minute drive from the house, is

delightful and very 'French'. Virginia and Glen who manage the property were brilliant. I couldn't recommend it enough.

The Bastide is situated in the heart of Provence, at the head of a valley facing south. The house is centrally located for St Tropez and the Riviera coast, an easy drive to the south and 30 minutes to the Lac St Croix and the Gorges du Verdon to the north. Aix en Provence is less than an hours drive.

It is a walk into the village and the boulangerie yet positioned in a tranquil spot. Cotignac is listed as one of 'The most beautiful villages of Provence'. Good restaurants, weekly food market, regular antique markets, a walkers paradise. There are numerous pretty villages nearby, TourTour (The village in the sky), Aups the truffle capital and Villecroze. There are several local spectacular waterfalls, kayaking, horse riding, golf, tennis and quad biking. There are several Michelin starred restaurants within easy reach.
