About the property

5 bedroom detached house to sleep up to 12, in Paimpol, very close to the beach

Amazing house on the edge of a freshwater lake, right opposite the sea, in the harbour town of Paimpol. The house was restored in 2005 and has a lovely balance of style and home comfort with an eclectic mix of contemporary and antique furniture. On the ground floor, there is a fully-fitted modern kitchen (with all conveniences such as dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and range oven), a dining room with an open fire and a table which seats 14, a sitting room with DVD library and a bathroom and separate WC. On the 1st floor, there are 4 double bedrooms, 2 with balconies overlooking the lake, and a bathroom/WC. On the 2nd floor, there is a huge loft room with a sea view,sleeping 6 with a TV/DVD and a WC with wash-basin. Outside, there is a lakeside terrace with picnic tables and a barbecue, a lawned lakeside garden with a large sun deck and loungers, as well as woodland The entire lake is securely fenced.

I grew up in Saltaire,West Yorkshire in the 1960's.

Left for Art school and London in the eighties.

Remained there until coming to France full time with my partner Sue in 2006.

I originally bought a house in this area in 1990 and visited frequently until we moved here.

Love it!

I fell in love with this place the first time I laid eyes on it in 1990.

There was no question...when it came up for sale I had to buy it!

Wirklich aussergewöhnlich!

Wunderschöne Lage, geschmackvolle liebevoll arrangierte Ausstattung, tolle Küche, Kaminofen mit reichlich Feuerholz. All das wäre bei jedem Wetter Garantie für einen tollen Urlaub gewesen. Dazu kam für uns ein kleiner Frühling mit reichlich Sonne und entsprechend gut gelaunte Menschen.

(sauber, gut geheizt und wie beschrieben war es natürlich auch!)

Hier kann man richtig erholsamen Urlaub machen!

A perferct home base to discover Northern Brittany

La maison de beauport was a perfect home base for us to discover the beauty of Northern Brittany and provided enough rooms for two families (4 adults and 6 youngster between 14 and 20). The charming house is beautifully decorated, the kitchen well equipped and everybody found his favourite place to relax... David is an easy going and straight forward landlord. We'd love to come back one day!

Beautiful house, great location

Lovely house, full of light and very tastefully decorated. The house was spotless. It was pleasure to sit by the lake and watch the heron each morning and count the egrets in the tree. David and Sue were the perfect hosts, warm and welcoming and responsive to any requests. It is perfectly located, just a short walk to the Abbaye de Beauport and the sea, a short drive to the center of Paimpol.

'Unique'

Greeted by the wonderful proprietors, easy and relaxed brief overview and then left to our own devices for the week. Words fail me in an attempt to describe the property and do it the justice it deserves in all aspects, location, scenery, architecture, aesthetics and atmosphere. All in all just about the best holiday retreat our large family has enjoyed in 25 years of travel. Cannot recommend this enough. Thank you David.

Location

Car: recommended

The house is situated on the edge of Paimpol,a well known historical fishing town.Our neighbour is the Abbaye de Beauport,established in 1202 and considered to be the best example of a maritime Abbey in France and highly recommend as a place to go.

To the west of Paimpol starts the 'Pink Granite coast' famous for its stunning rock formations and islets. Ten minutes to the north of Paimpol is L'Arc Ouest,the embarkation point for a 10 minute ferry ride to the car free 'Isle de Brehat,peaceful and fleurie,lots of quiet little beaches, very well worth a visit.

In close proximity to the house,as well as numerous woodland walks you can find several very safe beaches,and a few kilometres away,bigger ,busier beaches such as Brehec and Plage de Bonaparte.

Lots of activities such as Golf,Tennis,Sailing are all very close.

A Steam Train (April -Sept) runs from Paimpol along the banks of the River Trieux to Pontriuex,a delightful small sheltered town.

Near Pontrieux is Chateau Roch Jagu,perched high on the banks of the river Trieux.A formidable chateau and it has amazing gardens.

Perros Guirrec,Tregastel.Ploumanach and Plougrescant,all fabulous destinations on the Cote Granit Rose within a 45 min drive of the house.
