About the property

3 bedroom modern cottage, sleeps 6, close to beaches, Heligan, Eden Project

Come and enjoy a relaxing break at Glebe Cottage. Built five years ago the cottage is in the middle of the small village St Ewe, close to the popular, local pub The Crown Inn. A traditional exterior hides a modern interior with double height ceilings and an open plan living area. Huge glass doors frame a fantastic view, whilst underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm and cosy. On hot days throw open the doors onto the deck which wraps round the back of the house, on chilly evenings light the wood burning stove and curl up on the large, comfortable sofa and watch a movie.

Three en-suite bedrooms give everyone their own space and an open plan living area guarantees you won't get stuck in the kitchen. Meal preparation can easily become a communal affair.

Outside there's plenty of space for everyone to relax with three well organised areas to make the most of the sun throughout the day - relax in the hammock, watch the sunset from the deck or watch the local farm life in the shape of the many cows and sheep in neighbouring fields. You might even spot an owl hunting in the field below the cottage.

St Ewe is a quiet village with a good pub and medieval church. Plenty of beaches are within easy reach, The Lost Gardens of Heligan are round the corner, The Eden Project is a 15 minute drive and Mevagissey is just down the road

The picturesque south coast of Cornwall is just 3 miles away and the beautiful Roseland Peninsula is full of pretty villages and hidden beaches with plenty of places to explore and keep you busy during your stay. Two of Cornwall's most famous attractions: The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are very close to the cottage and are both well worth visiting.

If you want to see more of Cornwall, St Ewe is very well located for visiting the whole of the County. The North Coast is a short drive away, with Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant at Watergate Bay and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow both within 40 minutes of St Ewe. You can easily plan day trips to Lands Ends in the West and Tintagel in the North from your comfortable base at Glebe Cottage.

About sue hawken

I am Sue Hawken and I own Glebe Cottage, which I run as a holiday property. I also live in St Ewe so I am on hand to sort out any problems that may arise during your stay.

sue hawken purchased this cottage in 2009

Why sue hawken chose Saint Ewe

Glebe Cottage was built in 2009 as a holiday cottage. We wanted to build a property that used traditional materials but made the most of twentieth technology and we hope that we achieved something that fits well into this ancient village. We hope that we have thought of everything you might need to make your holiday as comfortable as possible.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage enjoys a fabulous view over farmland. Although it is in the middle of the village, it is quiet and private and a very calming place to spend time away from home.

Light Airy Modern Cottage: comfortable interior, village centre, great pub
average rating of 5.0 based on 26 reviews

The perfect retreat.

  • 5 of 5

We decided on Glebe Cottage when choosing a property due to its light and airy feel and its location away from the main towns and its local amenities (i.e. it's around 30 seconds walk to the pub!).

We were a group of five adults staying for five nights in early May and we found the cottage to be very comfortable with excellent facilities in terms of kitchen, bath/shower rooms, social areas and, wow, what a view! We even enjoyed a slightly chilly evening in the garden using the supplied barbecue. The cottage is modern and therefore very well insulated, keeping a nice temperature even though outside may be a little nippy!

The village of St Ewe is delightfully quiet and perfectly situated for visits to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and nearby Mevagissy with its excellent choice in pubs and restaurants.

We would all be more than happy to return to Glebe cottage in the future if only for the bread and lemon cake that Sue provided us with on our arrival, delish!

A delightful place for a family to holiday, I really couldn't recommend it enough.

ps. the pub is also excellent! The Crown has a good selection of beers and does very nice food, and we were made very welcome.

Simply Stunning

  • 5 of 5

A simply stunning cottage in a beautiful part of the Country. Such nice little additional touches like the homemade lemon cake, granary loaf, butty and eggs and more only enhance the whole thing. That moment you first open the front door and see straight though the cottage to the view through the bi-fold lounge doors takes your breath away. My wife and I had taken my parents and my mother in law as a present and at their now mid to late 70's, the fact the cottage is all on one level just added to the enjoyment.

The fact that such a lovely pub is in the village, a very short walk from the cottage, adds to ability to easily pop out and eat / drink once more enhances the whole experience of stopping here.

So if you're reading this review and after reading any of the other reviews, thinking that no place can be this good, well trust us, it can!

Don't hesitate, book it!

A great property in a beautiful setting. It's views across open countryside are second to none. Sue (the owner) was very welcoming and makes a great cake. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is here. I cant fault it and will be returning soon.

This holiday cottage was perfect in every way, everything to hand, spotlessly clean, a beautiful lemon cake and goodies on arrival so thoughtful, we were six adults with plenty of room, we would all return and cannot recommend it highly enough, so thank you sue from us all, we had all our meals in the pub next door just fabulous.

Beautiful cottage, beautiful setting 💖

  • 5 of 5

Glebe cottage is everything in the pictures and a little bit more. Warm, light and very relaxing are some of its charms and the far reaching views are spectacular. Sue the owner was very accommodating and the welcome package, especially the lemon drizzle cake was well received. Situated in a lovely village, but not too far from some of Cornwall's breathtaking coastline we would thoroughly recommend this holiday home and look forward to returning in the future. Thank you Sue for a most enjoyable stay.

Gorran Haven
Car: recommended

St Ewe is a totally unspoilt, inland village midway between the larger fishing village of Mevagissey and the small beach side village of Gorran Haven. Famous for its associations with The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Ewe is the place you will find the War Memorial with the names of Heligan's lost Gardeners.

St Ewe is 3 miles from the south Cornwall coast with an excellent choice of beaches from a well serviced local beach at Gorran Haven to the more remote beaches at Hemmick or Caerhayes, Carne or Pendower. Glebe Cottage is a 15 minute drive from The Eden Project and is very close to the beautiful and unspoilt villages of the Roseland Peninsula. The traditional fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and St Mawes are all within easy reach of the cottage. Here you can while way an afternoon watching the fishing boats, browsing in the shops or trying your hand at a spot of crab fishing.

Glebe Cottage is close to the South West Coastal Path and there are plenty of choices of wonderful walks along the path passing through picturesque fishing villages and hidden beaches.

The central location of St Ewe means that there is easy access to the whole of Cornwall and many guests have travelled the County visiting Lands End and Tintagel in one stay. For those determined to relax there are plenty of easy ways to spend time close to St Ewe enjoying all Cornwall has to offer. The village also has a great, local pub, so you can enjoy an evening drink or meal without having to get in your car.
