South facing, views east to beyond west, both sunrise and sunsets. Protected from the Mistral, private, peaceful but only two minutes walk to the local shops, bar and restaurants, fresh croissants on your doorstep, perfect. What more do you want, stunning views, in the foreground over the roof tops are the local mountains, vineyards, olive trees, cypress trees, but also Gigondas, sweeping to your right Orange and Avignon then across the Rhone to the mountains in the Ardeche, to the north Pierrelatte following through to Roaix, amazing. I would like to welcome back all those lovely people 'home' again and all those lovely people yet to come! After 17 years of owning Les Roseraies, the house has just been fully redecorated from top to bottom for the third time!!! New furntiure, bedlinen, towels, china and glasses etc. The house is set on two floors and has all you need and more with a fully equipped kitchen having lived in the house for six months I need my kitchen to have everything within hands reach and to cook with a view is so worth it. There is private parking in the courtyard by the front door, each bedroom has its own bathroom. But it is really the views from the main terrace which leads off the kitchen that all clients adore. More than 180 degrees, east to beyond west facing south, plenty of sunshine and you are protected from the dreaded Mistral wind. Why go out when you can see and breathe Provence. The sunsets are truly amazing, even better with a glass of wine in your hand! Plus there is the small terrace off the double bedroom ideal for a coffee in the shade.

The village of Sablet. How rare to find such a picturesque Provencal village with all amenities set back from the main road. Have lived in the village for the past 12 years and still do, all year round, not only are the local people friendly they are also very helpful and a delight.

So much to see and do from Sablet, several walks up into the hills which start from the village square. Rivers for swimming, plus two public pools all within ten minutes drive. The provencal market in Vaison la Romaine is a colourful delight. Forty minutes drive to La Pont du Gard, Isle sur la Sorgues for antiquities and brocante on a Sunday morning. The lavender fields along La Vallee de La Nesque towards Sault. Or just rest relax and enjoy a good book.

We arrived in Sablet by car from Avignon on a warm, sunny late September afternoon and were met in the village centre by our host, Ros.

The house itself is lovely with traditional thick stone walls, blue shutters and red tile roof! The front door opens into a delightful lounge with comfortable furnishings, a wood burner, TV, telephone, a small library etc. The downstairs double bedroom is just a couple of easy steps away with its own bathroom and shower. A staircase leads from the lounge to the first floor and the second double bedroom a bright, sunny room with its own secluded terrace and bathroom with shower. The kitchen is traditional in style, well lit and very well equipped with washing machine, dish washer, a large fridge and all the home comforts including a Senseo coffee maker, microwave, a proper oven & hob. There is a nice round table and four cushioned chairs. A door leads out to the large roof terrace. This is literally the high spot of the house and is absolutely stunning! The views are fabulous you look over lovely red tiled roofs and vineyards to the Dentelles to the south, towards Avignon in the far distance to the south west and towards Orange to the west. It is incredibly peaceful and the sunsets are wonderful. There is a table and four chairs and two comfortable sun loungers, all in good condition and nice quality. There is also a gas BBQ. We were very impressed with the way Ros has provided everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and in good order. Ros lives in the village and on the couple of occasions we needed to speak to her, was very responsive but never intrusive.

Sablet is an historic working village with narrow streets and with most of the original stone walls still in existence. It has a lively bar/pizza (wood fired oven) restaurant, a very well stocked super market, two boulangeries and an excellent butcher, all within easy walking distance. We parked the car in the village centre car park and had no difficulty finding a space at any time.

In summary, we really enjoyed our holiday. We used the car a lot, visiting the delightful Vaison la Romaine, Seguret, Orange, Chateauneuf du Pape etc and further afield to Mont Ventoux, and Fontaine de Vaucluse. Sablet is a pretty village and an ideal place to stay. The house is lovely and very comfortable. We have no reservation in recommending it and awarding five stars!

The main terrace has an outdoor shower for when it gets really hot and you need to cool down!! The BBQ is gas so much easier to light!

Look No Further

I have stayed in this house many times and it is always idyllic - even out of season. The owner is gregarious and helpful. The house is tastefully decorated and minatained to a high standard and very clean. The views are magnificent - almost 360 degrees of the plains and the Dentelles. This is a quiet village, give or take the odd fete, and you are reminded of 'real life' only by the chimes of the church clock. You are only a minute away from the boulangerie and the bar is just round the corner. This is a quiet and friendly village with all the commerce that you need for your stay. The restaurant is good and the take away amazing by British standards! You can take walks or sit and admire the views and relax with the wafting of lavender. Vaison is only 15 minutes away by car and there are international restaurants to choose from as well as bars, shops and the Tuesday market. There is also the medieval part of town and a swimming pool. Avignon is about half an hour away and Nimes airport less than an hour. Nyons (and villages nearby and in between) is a 40 minute drive to the east and sheltered by mountains and there is a fabulous open air pool there and a market on Thursday. This place is as near to heaven as you're going to get in France and I haven't even mentioned the wine yet!

Very special and highly recommendable also in November

At the beginning of November we spent another week in this cosy house – coming back for the 2nd time this year after a most wonderful week in May. We can only recommend to visit the Provence also at this time of the year – life is much quieter and more relaxed and you are surrounded by the beautiful autumnal colouring of the different trees and of the many vineyards. There is lots to do from taking beautiful walks through the colourful landscape, going truffle hunting and learning about this very special local product to be followed by a delicious truffle meal with local wine. The weekly markets were just as diversified as in summer and are always worth a visit. Local attractions are less crowded and can be enjoyed at leisure and in tranquility. Ros has again been the most perfect and caring host and become a real friend. You simply cannot ask for more – this place is a 100% recommendation all year round.

Très agréable maison avec une vue magnifique !

La maison se situe dans le joli village perché de Sablet à quelques km de Vaison-la-Romaine et de Gigondas. La terrasse offre une vue époustouflante sur les Dentelles de Montmirail.

La maison est très confortable, propre et bien équipée.

Le village est charmant, avec de nombreux commerces (boulangeries, supérette, boucherie, coiffeurs, bars & restaurants).

Nos hôtes Rose & Jean-Marc ont été particulièrement sympathiques et avenants.

La région est fabuleuse (pour les amateurs de vins, de baignade en rivière ou de randonnées ...)

Je recommande vivement cette maison pour des couples ou des familles (nous étions 2 adultes et 3 enfants).

Beautiful house in Sablet, Provence

We have recently returned from a wonderful stay in Sablet, Vaucluse. Our hostess, Ros, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and she is a fount of knowledge about the village and the local area. As she lives in the village she was available when needed, but otherwise unobtrusive. The house is DELIGHTFUL and Ros (together with Jean Marc!)has genuinely thought of everything that her guests could need for a comfortable stay. I have never stayed anywhere so well-equipped. The house is extremely clean, tastefully appointed and well maintained, with 2 terraces to be able to enjoy the views of the beautiful surroundings. Both terraces have chairs, table and loungers and there is a gas barbeque for outdoor dining. Sablet itself is a peaceful provencal village with a great grocery shop, 2 bakeries, a butcher's and bars. There are vineyards, walks, cycle rides and other villages nearby to explore, or you can simply relax in the house!

Avignon, Nimes, Aix and Arles are all nearby and Mont Ventoux is close for those who welcome a cycling challenge! We cannot recommend Ros and her accommodation more highly.

Perfect location and unsurpassed views

The location is perfect.very centrally located in Sablet next to the clocktower and just minutes away from shop. Sablet has all you need in the matter of shops - butcher, bakeries, a small supermarket and a bar where you can always find shade. It has a cosy atmosphere with small and steep streets.

Sablet is ideally located in middle of Rhone's best whine districts and in walking distance from ancient town of Seguret and short drving distance of charming Gigondas.

The house is very well equipped with all that you need and more (even Senseo cofffee brewer and hairdryer + all the things you usually need to suply yourself in the matter of foil, baking paper and common spices). From the main terrasse it has magnificient views over the Dentelles and the surrounding landscape and popular shade in the afternoon on the other smaller terrasse - perfect for a afternoon coffee.

This is one of the best places we have stayed and if we go to Vaucluse again we will definately come back.

Amazing vacation rental and wonderful owner, Ros

I just returned back to Northern California after the most amazing week at Ros's vacation rental in Sablet. My parents have stayed every summer for 5 years, and now that I finally made the trip, I know why! The house is just perfect, and Ros was so very hospitable! Thanks for the most amazing memories and lots and lots of laughs (and wine)! See you next year for sure!!

Sablet is in the center of the Cotes de Rhone region, full of excellent wines to taste and buy. Probably Gigondas, Vacqueras, Cairanne and Beaumes de Venise are the famous caves but all within a ten minute drive. Orange, 20 minutes, boasts an amphitheatre with classical performances during the summer months. Carpentras, 20 minutes, has the only synagogue in the area. The Dentelles de Montmirail are famous for climbing and walking. Mont Ventoux for also walking and cycling for the brave of heart. Rivers, swimming pools close by and above all Vaison la Romaine full of ancient remains, Provencal market every Tuesday which is a delight to the eye and the stomach. Thriving town and a joy in the evenings just to wander and chose a menu of your choice. Villedieu, 10 minutes, excellent tapas in the evenings under the Plane trees to the sound of the village fountain. Music in the bars around the area, always colourful always something to do.

Other Activities: Great for climbers.
