Lovely villa in Provencal village, private pool, mountain views

Updated: 30-Sep-2016
3 bedroom villa to sleep 6 in beautiful garden with heated pool in Provence

Villa Les Cerisiers is in a small group of houses overlooking the village of Oppede, a 2 minute walk away. It has a direct view of the Petit Luberon mountains, is fully air-conditioned and easily sleeps 6 in three double bedrooms.

Downstairs, an office off the living room has a double sofa bed for visitors. The kitchen is fully fitted including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and conventional and microwave ovens. The living room is large and sunny, with a wood-burning fireplace for the colder months! It and the kitchen lead to a covered terrace where you can sit with a glass of wine watching the sun go down over the mountains, enjoy a BBQ, or relax by the swimming pool in the secluded garden. Wi-fi is available.

Oppede is in the middle of 'Peter Mayle country', a few minutes' drive from several stunning hill villages, and there is superb fresh produce in the many local markets. You can buy your wine direct from local vineyards, and olive oil from a nearby estate. A neighbour sells his cherries in season!

At any time of year, the beauty of he surroundings make the Villa les Cerisiers the perfect place for your holiday.

Absolutely lovely

  • 5 of 5

The property was gorgeous, exactly as described. 4 adults stayed and we had more than enough room. All of the facilities were perfect including the lovely sized out door pool. On arrival everything was ready for us, clean and tidy. For us location was perfect, Oppede is a five minute wander down the road. Can't recommend enough, thank you so much

Everything you need for a relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing week in Oppede and fully enjoyed this property. It has every amenity you require with a well-stocked kitchen, nice outdoor area with amazing mountain views and lots of great information provided about the local area and surrounding townships (there are lots!). We had a few days of rain which didn't bother us as the property is large enough to still relax inside. We visited in the off-season so many places in Oppede were closed however with the car it was nice to explore the other towns close by. Overall a great place to go for a relaxing holiday.

Wonderful location, comfortable and spacious

  • 5 of 5

As before, we took the train to Avignon, hired a car and drove 40 minutes to Sue MacDonald's lovely house facing the Luberon. The weather was consistently sunny with temperatures over 30 during the day but with plenty of cool in the evenings. All meals were taken on the terrace underneath vines.

Sited in a beautiful Provencal garden, the gorgeous pool provides welcome relief at the hottest times of the day.

The view towards the mountains to the south is spectacular, with the medieval village of Oppede le Vieux clearly visible. Many mountain walking routes meet there for those interested in hiking.

Les Cerisiers is five minutes walk from bakery and epicerie and ten minutes in the car to a supermarket. The fruit and vegetables in the local markets were utterly superb this year.

This is a wonderfully relaxing place to stay on holiday.

Another relaxing and enjoyable stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in Villa les Cerisiers, and was just as relaxing and enjoyable as the first one. We had the luxury of a three week holiday and the comfort of the villa, and wonderful location offered the perfect way to make the most of the break. The villa is comfortable and welcoming, with all the facilities you need, and a beautiful garden, pool and view. As well as relaxing by the pool, catching up with the reading, we also walked most days, either up to Oppede le Vieux, or around the many local hilltop villages and historic sites. This year one of us made the cycling route up Mont Ventoux - the rest of us joining them at the top by car, for the amazing views and a quick tribute to Tom Simpson.

We had many good meals, including two more trips to Celina's, and some lovely meals in Goult. We hope to return again!

A place to enjoy!

  • 5 of 5

This is a modern, spacious villa with all mod cons.It is clean and very tastefully and comfortably furnished. Everything you need. Outside there is a terrace to sit out and eat on and also a private swimming pool area with plenty of sunshine. It is a quiet area.

When we went, the pool was not yet open but weather was lovely. Plenty of walks and interesting places to visit. Springtime is stunning in the Luberon, with wild flowers and gorgeous smells everywhere.

The owner was very helpful and replied quickly to all my enquiries. Someone was there to meet us when we arrived to show us around.

I would recommend this property to anyone. One could have a lazy time around the pool in the summer or a more active visit at other times of the year.

Relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful two weeks in Villa les Cerisiers, our first time in this part of Provence, and the villa, location and surroundings surpassed all our expectations.

The location is ideal, being quiet and relaxing, but near to so many interesting places to visit. Our mixed family group enjoyed exploring the hill top villages, walks, and vineyards although the quality of the villa and its lovely garden, pool and view meant that we were also very happy to relax and enjoy time on site.

The villa itself is well-equipped, very comfortable and clean. The garden is lovely, and the views from the terrace stunning at any time of the day or evening. The walk into Oppede only takes a few minutes, and we appreciated having shops and the charming little bar so close to hand. The recommendations provided by Sue for trips and restaurants were really useful, and we came away feeling that we had only just started to get to know this beautiful area, with so much more to see than we had time for. We very much appreciated the opportunity to stay in this lovely home, and will definitely be returning next year.

We knew we wanted this villa when we first viewed it, in the middle of a cherry orchard on a hill above Oppede and with a wonderful view of the Luberon Mountains.

We, and our guests who rent the villa, find the combination of privacy and access to a lively village is ideal. We love the swimming pool and garden in the summer and the open log fire in the winter. The skies are lovely, the sunsets spectacular.
