This delightful old stone property has just been completely refurbished and comprises three light, airy and spacious apartments: The ground floor studio with its terrace over-looking the river, the middle two bedroom apartment with a covered veranda over-looking the river and the upper one bedroom apartment with a large terrace, partly covered, again with delightful river views.

The lovely old village of Collias has bar, restaurants and shops all within three minutes' walk of the house. The River Gardon and its gorges are on the doorstep, with swimming, canoeing and riverside walks, river birds, beavers and other wildlife. Beautiful medieval Uzes, the famous Pont du Gard, Nimes and Avignon are all a short drive away. Vineyards, cultural events, Provençal landscapes and medieval hilltop villages are all close at hand.

Lovely spacious apartment in stunning location

We had a fantastic week in this charming old property, which has been beautifully restored and furnished to a high standard including air condition. It was perfect for us, our two teenage children and our Labrador.

The apartment was impeccably clean, the beds were comfortable and there were plenty of seating opportunities, including the kitchen table with views of the river, another dining table plus a sofa area in the living room, as well as chair and table in the master bedroom. We never felt in each other's way.

The pool is a lovely bonus, and although sharing it with the other two apartments, we never happened to use it at the same time. At the time of our stay, there were a Danish couple below and a German family with a toddler and a dog above us. We had lovely chats and sharing the house was never an issue whatsoever.

We spent a lot of time in and around the river, which is crystal clear and only about 100m away, sunbathing, swimming, 'tomb stoning' off a cliff, canoeing down to the Pont du Gard and walking up the river through the beautiful gorges. The 'Via Ferrata' climbing along the rocks towering over the river is another thrilling outdoor activity on your door step. At the weekends, it got busy by the river but the children enjoyed that even more. It is a good idea to bring 'water shoes'.

Collias is a lovely quaint and quiet little village. We ate out about 4 times in various places or just went for a drink and can't fault any of them. We took it in turns to walk to the bakery for fresh bread and other groceries in the mornings, which I particularly enjoyed with our dog, stopping for a coffee and fresh croissant, to read a paper and watch the world go by. The safe parking opposite the house was very useful. We used our car once or twice for a shopping trip to a large supermarket just a few km away, during which time we went for a wine tasting and bought fantastic wine for a very good price at a vineyard shop along the way. We also went to Uzes nearby, Aigues-Mortes, le Grau-du-Roi and l'Espignette beach. Avignon and Nimes are other options out of many.

Jenny, the owner, is a lovely lady. She was very helpful. It was a pleasure to meet her and a joy to talk to her about all sorts of things. We can all thoroughly recommend this place and would happily return.

Great apartment with excellent terrace

We really enjoyed our stay in Collias at one of Jenny's apartments. The apartment is very spacious and is even nicer than in the photos. The bed is of a good size and the en suite has a good shower along with a washing machine. We loved the large sunny terrace which also offered plenty of shade for dining or lounging. The apartments were full during the first week of our stay but it was always possible to use the pool on our own when we wanted to. It's a good area for sight-seeing - Uzès is gorgeous and not very far away by car. There is also walking directly from the apartment, either through the village or along by the river. The boulangerie was about five minutes walk away along with a couple of shops, bars, restaurants and creperie. We'd definitely recommend this apartment! Thanks to Jenny also - an exellent hostess!

herrliche Wohnung mit Blick auf Fluss und Berge

Die Wohnung ist wie das gesamte Haus aus Naturstein gebaut und fügt sich sehr harmonisch in die naturnahe Landschaft. Sie ist sehr stilvoll eingerichtet, hell, sauber, für 2 Personen sehr großzügig angelegt und verfügt über einen wunderschönen ringsumflaufenden Balkon mit Blick auf den Fluss.

Die Lage der Wohnung lädt zu zahlreichen Ausflügen in die Region ein um die Natur zu genießen und die Kultur kennen zu lernen (z.B. Camargue, Crau, Alpilles, Pont du Gard, Arles, Avignon, Nimes).

Unbedingt erkunden sollte man auch die Ortschaft Collias und seine direkte Umgebung. In unmittelbarer Nähe zum Haus (ca. 150 m Entfernung) und sehr idyllisch direkt am Fluss gelegen, befindet sich ein Cafe-Restaurant (L'Enclos) in dem man u.a. die Abende genießen kann.

Es war ein sehr schöner Urlaub mit einer freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Gastgeberin. Aufgrund der herrlichen Wohnung und den vielen Ausflugs- und Besichtigungsmöglichkeiten ist es sehr empfehlenswert einen längeren Urlaub über wenigsten 2 Wochen einzuplanen.

Magnifique appartement

L'appartement est superbe, soigné, très bien décoré et extrêmement agréable à vivre

La terrasse est grande, lumineuse: c'est un bonheur d'y prendre son petit déjeuner

L'environnement est magnifique, calme.

Collias est un très joli village. Au coucher du soleil il est très agréable de se promener le long du Gardon

La région est très belle. (Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la mise à disposition de guides touristiques dans l'appartement)

Nous recommandons vivement cet endroit et nous y reviendrons certainement !

A True Vacation

Our stay in Jenny's studio apartment in Collias was absolutely wonderful, a true vacation. The apartment itself is spacious, comfortable, and tasteful. The kitchen is well-equipped and makes self-catering easy. (Though there also is a choice of restaurants within walking distance, and a wonderful bakery) The immediate surrounding area, with its charming village, river, and wildlife add more layers of pleasure to the experience of staying in this apartment.

We were as active and as inactive as we wished to be: reading by the pool, taking walks along the river and among the sunflower fields, driving to nearby sites of beauty and interest, and then returning "home" to this lovely apartment.

Simply Amazing!

Our 2-week stay at "La Du Barry" exceeded all of our expectations. The upper unit was well-maintained and well-furnished. It was more spacious than the photos indicated. Plus, the veranda, which has an incredible view (and where we spent most of our time), is large enough to hold a dining room table and our bicycles. Everything worked well from the Internet to the washing machine. Just keep in mind that the appliances are European sized (which was fine relative to our tiny San Francisco apartment).

Jenny was a fabulous host — greeting us on our arrival and very accessible (although we didn't need to contact her at all during our stay). She made everything quite easy for us.

The location is perfect. It's at the end of a road right by the river (where you can picnic, swim, and rent kayaks). There's a restaurant right on the river, which was great for a drink and some casual dining. The creperie, just a block up the road, wasn't open until our second week but the food was terrific. A local winery is a couple of blocks away and quite tasty. There are a couple of nicer restaurants in town, but we opted to cook most of the time. The two "super markets", while tiny, had everything we needed. We would, however, highly recommend that you go to market day in one of the larger towns (like Uzes).

All in all, we could not have had a more enjoyable time. We love this place, and we love Collias. We highly recommend it and are planning on returning next summer with friends.
