Villa Tranquila in Calonge is a large beautifully designed villa with its own private salt water/chlorine 8 metre pool and a unique quality and ambiance making it the perfect holiday retreat. Surrounded by mature gardens it is situated in the exclusive Puig Rosell, with beautiful and breathtaking views of the medieval village Calonge, the Les Gavarres coastal mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea beyond.

The design of the Villa is such, that steps are few, giving easy access around the property so therefore suiting every age group. For your comfort there is airconditioning available in every room.

It has been furnished to the highest standards achieving a unique combination of great comfort in luxurious surroundings suiting holiday seekers wanting something special or families with children. Natural textures of solid teak, oak, real leather, farmhouse terracota tiles and bamboo combined with the colours of cream, gold and the warm tones of the Mediterranean creates a relaxing tranquil place to be.

Where and what?:

To try and capture the feel of Villa Tranquila and put it into words is difficult but understated luxury and home from home do seem to cover it. The name is a bit of a give-away - the English equivalent is ‘tranquil house’ and really that says it all! However the secret to choosing this particular villa for your holiday, and this beautiful area, is that with the magnificent Costa Brava on your doorstep and all that it offers, combined with Villa Tranquila means that you have the magical mix of basking in sumptuous comfort and then choosing to be as laid back or as active as you wish. The mountains or the beach? an afternoon exploring the old town of Girona or perhaps some serious shopping in Palamos or Platja d'Aro? A jazz evening or a barbecue under the stars? What about a day trip to Barcelona? The choice goes on and on.

Villa Tranquila - the exterior:

The Villa is individually designed in a Modern Farmhouse Luxury Style with the aim to satisfy all tastes and needs, taking into account all age groups and their individual desires thereby creating the perfect holiday retreat. The Villa is approached by a long wide paved drive with a secure locking gate giving ample parking with extra for a car/boat/caravan at the side. A path winds its way past a large pine tree, palms and a mature flowering rockery towards the private barbecue and a relaxing area of a three seater swing seat and sun chairs. There is access to the kitchen, lounge and Sundowner room, with a child and pet proof locking gate. Continuing on following the path further through the garden you reach a dining area for meals al fresco and the 8 METRE salt/chlorine mix swimming pool. Further on there are cushioned sun loungers, a large shaded terrace area, an outdoor pool shower and another dining area with umbrella placed in the shade of a pine tree. Large and spacious sun terraces are laid to the side with plenty of further sun loungers, a 3 metre umbrella and full size ping pong table.

Villa Tranquila - the interior:

The design of this Villa is unique in the fact that the spacious layout gives privacy for all the occupants. From the main entrance there is access to Bedroom 3 on the ground level with its own private bathroom and access through double doors to the garden and stunning mountain views. Also from here is a beautiful tower holding a sweeping tiled stairway with a few easy steps up giving access to Bedroom 1 and 2 and also Bathroom 1 on the first floor. Louvre doors give privacy to the occupants here and also security if there are young children in the party. Each bedroom has its own private terrace with Bedroom 1 (Master Bedroom) having double doors to a covered terrace of two chairs and breathtaking views and Bedroom 2 having a wrought iron table/chairs and a sun blind and the same fantastic vista! From the main entrance, and a few steps downwards you reach the dining kitchen, the lounge (40 inch HDTV), Hi Fi (iPod/MP3 cable for Hi Fi supplied) and dining area and also the Sundowner room with a PC station and computer desk (free WiFi) and printer. All have double doors to the pool/garden. (40MB Wifi and UK / European TV using a media box. Tablets would need relevant HDMI adaptors and cable)

A 25% non-refundable deposit is required on booking, with the remainder payable 8 weeks prior to departure.

A breakage/security deposit of 250 GBP (or equivalent in Euros) is required to be paid to the managing agent on day of arrival and will be returned to the guests by the agent on the day of departure assuming no damages or loss.

Pets will be considered however there is an extra charge of 75 GBP (or equivalent in Euros at the exchange rate on the day of booking) per week to cover the charge of an extra full professional clean after departure.

We would advise you to take out holiday insurance to cover cancellations as we cannot provide any refund once the final balance has been paid.

There is no smoking permitted inside the villa.

Changeover day is normally Saturday but can be negotiated.

All departures must leave by 10.00am and all arrivals no earlier than 4.00pm, unless by special arrangement with the owners/agents.

Helmets must be worn by the bicycle users.

Children must be supervised around the pool and garden at all times.

The multi-gym is used at your own risk.

The position of the Villa on the hillside, the beautiful views of the village, castle and church, with mountain and sea views make this a magnificent holiday home.

We purchased this property after spending many happy holidays in Calonge and had it built and designed to our own specification. The Baix Emporda region is simply stunning, the people, the things to do just make it the perfect place to spend time whether it is to spend time on the beautiful beaches, be active exploring the nearby mountains or just to chill out in this beautiful Villa drinking the wine from the local vineyards and enjoying a barbeque - it is just perfect !

What makes this villa unique

The individual design of the layout of the Villa is ideal for families, romantic breaks for just two people and also for all ages. Villa Tranquila has fantastic views being set on a mountain hillside, but has the added advantage of being suitable for everyone as it has very few steps both inside and outside. Access to the garden and swimming pool is very easy and there is a terrace which can be locked to be able to keep young children safe. The property is private with many areas to sit peacefully with terraces, garden and a fully established garden.

This beautiful villa is fully equipped to a luxury standard. Every detail has been thought through to ensure you have the perfect holiday for example included in your rental rate is a 'meet and greet' service and a 'welcome pack'. Sun loungers with cushions are provided together with large sun towels for use around the pool. A PC with 40MG. Two his and hers bicycles are provided together with helmets. The pool is a salt water/chlorine mix reducing the risk of skin/eye irritation and the added advantage of making the water soft and much more pleasurable to swim in. There are lockable railings at the front of the property which can be used to keep young children away from the pool area and the property has a long wide drive with a lockable gate with additional parking at the side of the Villa. To the side of the property there is a stone BBQ, a swing seat and two sun chairs with views towards the village and sea. The pool has underwater lighting and the garden has many external lights.

Beautiful Villa

This villa is absolutely stunning inside and outside. Stayed for two weeks and had a great time. The pool has the sun all day and a beautiful balcony at the side of the house that gets the sun late on in the evening. Photos advertised don’t do it justice. The local agent is on hand to help if any problems. We locked ourselves out the villa and spoke to the English speaking neighbour who contacted the agent for us and she was with us within 5 minutes. There is a local pub within walking distance. The villa has everything you need and more. No faults whatsoever. Would definitely go back.

Lovely villa

This is a really lovely villa with beautiful views, a pretty garden and every amenity provided. It is very well located, near to Calonge which is a nice village with shops, cafes and a few restaurants. St. Antoni de Calonge, the nearest beach is only 5 minutes by car and has a long stretch of gold sand with a nice promenade area with many restaurants. Easy driving distances to the many other beaches in the area, all of which have lovely sandy bays.

Palamos is a 10-15 minute drive and has a fantastic daily fish market in the harbour area and the town itself is buzzing with cafes and restaurants. Girona is well worth a visit especially the historic old town.

We had a great holiday and were really pleased that we had chosen this villa.

The description by Judy of her fabulous villa is accurate in every detail.

From the private and peaceful setting with views over the old village to the newer buildings on the coast and onward to the Balearic Sea it provides the ideal location for lazy days by the pool with a cold beer or chilled glass of wine.

The villa itself offers all of the amenities expected, and much much more. Every thought has been put into ensuring your stay will be hassle free. Outside there are numerous seating areas to enjoy together, or for a little bit of solo time immersed in your holiday reading! Samantha, who met us in Calonge, explains the workings of villa and offers advice on where to visit in the area (if you can tear yourself away from the tranquility) and where to eat.

There are a few restaurants in Calonge, but do check opening times. Our favourite was La Jovita, a 10 - 15 minute walk from the villa. It serves lunch between 1 and 3 when you can get a three course lunch with wine and coffee. The portions were larger than we expected for the price; for four €52, including a bottle of wine and coffees to finish!!

Judy was always available at the end of an email to answer any queries and to offer advice. The villa is highly recommended.

Perfectly Fabulous, everything it says and more.

Fabulous is not a word I use very often, however, the Villa can only be described as Fabulous. It is situated in a lovely quiet position, in an area just outside Calonge. The views are superb, looking across Calonge towards the sea at Sant Antoni and Palamos. Many afternoon was spent sitting around the sparkling pool enjoying the hot winter sun, with a cold beer or a glass of wine.

We were met by Samantha, who looks after the Villa, any question you would ask, by text or phone, is answered quickly. You could not improve on Sam. Equally the Villa is clean and well maintained.

Whilst we were there we visited a local vineyard, Mas Molla, well worth a visit, it is family run and one of the daughters showed us around the cellars, don't miss it. Also horsed riding at Hipica Unicorn, run by a Swiss lady who speaks English, very reasonable prices. Best to look on Google Earth for your directions, then very easy to find. There are a number of restaurants nearby and these are shown in a folder on site, we basically self catered, so I cannot comment on them.

What I can comment on is the very friendly, and at all times helpful contact with Judy Anderson, the owner. And when you arrive at the Villa, you will find a folder containing a wealth of information regarding every possible question you may have of the Villa and the surrounding areas; Doctors, Dentists, Train times to Barcelona Etc Etc. You do not find this amount of terrific information in most rental properties.

Would I recommend this superb Spanish Home to family, friends and anyone who reads this review, YES I would.

Bother, I have just realised that I should have kept this review to myself, as I will now have problems in booking my future holidays there.

The village of Calonge with its weekly market, bars, several restaurants, supermarkets, chemists, butchers - in fact everything you need - is only 2 minutes by car and the fabulous beach of St. Antoni de Calonge a further 3 minutes. If this is your first visit to the area then you are in for a treat as it truly has something for everyone, whether you desire the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea or hiking in the mountains of Les Gavarres or a leisurely round of Golf - it is all here and very accessible. You can choose from eating in restaurants by the beach or to farmhouse restaurants with breathtaking views towards the Pyranees. Fine dining or barbecues. The choice is yours. With ancient villages, stunning scenery, wonderful beaches, shopping and nightlife or lazy days by the pool - everything is here.

Pet Fee £75

All reservations 7 nights or more INCLUDE being personally met by the Calonge local managing agent Samantha and being taken to the Villa and given a full tour of the property and how to make the most of your holiday. The rates also include a full clean of the Villa on departure so you can leave the Villa with ease.
There is an additional charge for bookings less than 7 nights.

Cancellations: A non-refundable deposit is payable at the time of the Booking.
Any cancellation made by the client for whatever reason shall be by telephone followed by email to Judy Anderson.
If the booking is cancelled within 8 weeks of the arrival date the entire balance will be forfeited we therefore advise you to take out Holiday Insurance to cover cancellations.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
