2 Bed Luxury Apt in the Heart of Downtown Lisbon, Just off Avenida da Liberdade

Updated: 25-Oct-2016

PINGO DOCE SUPERMARKET IS LOCATED 5 MIN WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE APARTMENT (Turn left outside the apartment building and carry on walking to the top of the hill and you will see the supermarket across the small park)

This luxury apartment is strategically located in the Heart of Lisbon City Centre, just 150 meters from 'Avenida da Liberdade', which is considered to be one of the most elegant place in Lisbon. This boulevard, built in the 19th century in the style of the Champs-Elysees in Paris, is the main avenue of the city. It links the famous Marquês de Pombal Square to the Restauradores Square (Lisbon's historic centre). The avenue is also the site of the city's many 5* hotels and designer outlets including Hugo Boss, Armani, Hermés & Louis Vuitton.

2 Bedroom fully air-conditioned apartment (1st floor) with WiFi Internet and Cable TV is fully refurbished to a high standard.

New colours and modern furnishings combine romantic charm with sleek modern touches. High ceilings, original wood floors, french doors and large windows, blend with tasteful decor and original design, to give this self-catering apartment a charm all of its own in the heart of Lisbon City Centre.

The luxury apartment is flooded with very bright natural sunlight all day long (a big plus in Lisbon city centre) as well as quite (double glazing). It offers luxury & comforts to visiting business and leisure travellers. Complementary airport transfers from & to Lisbon airport.

There are many attractions such as Museums, Theatres, Palaces, Churches, Restaurants, Cafes (Hard Rock Cafe) and the Tagus River, all 5-10 min walk away.

DOWNTOWN LISBON - BAXIA : Is the heart of the city. It is the main shopping and banking district that stretches from the riverfront to the Avenida da Liberdade, with streets named according to the shopkeepers and craftsmen who traded in the area. Most attractions can be easily reached on foot. Metro, buses, trams and taxis at the door and trains to Sintra and Cascais at short walking distances

Baixa because it oozes life, its old world charm mixing easily with today’s action. Rua Augusta is the main tourist street and here alongside the Art Nouveau store fronts, grizzled old locals read the papers hung at corner kiosks and tourists settle in at premium-rate pavement cafés watching a parade of buskers, street artists and the ubiquitous Peruvian pan pipers.

The Baixa’s central square, Rossio, provides some of the best free entertainment in the city. All of Lisbon’s masses seem to drift across Rossio’s undulating mosaic paving at some time. Stop for a coffee and watch the passing scene.

The Baixa up to the Marquês do Pombal square show you a different Lisbon, with theatres, train stations, cafés and large squares to walk around. Head towards Belém to see the majestic Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, the famous Torre de Belém and the many museums around it. Don’t forget to try out the famous Pastéis de Belém.

There is also direct access to the Lisbon airport from this area by AEROBUS (to Libon Airport)

There are hundreds of places to see in Lisbon. Some are deceptively well hidden in between the narrow streets of the city, so the best for you to do is venture out and discover them! Filled with an ancient history and a contemporary lifestyle, Lisbon perfectly combines the old and the new.

Down through Chiado and Bairro Alto, find some of the most trendy bars and restaurants in Lisbon. During the day, the streets are filled with lively crowds travelling to the modern art museums, the high street shops, the local galleries, the cafés or the local gourmet grocery store.

Downtown - Sights to Watch: The area's top three sights are undoubtedly Comercio Square, Rossio Square, and the Santa Justa Elevator. Don’t miss any of these. Don't forget to look down at the cobbled mosaic pavements as you walk down Avenida da Liberdade, past Restauradores, Rossio, and into Rua Augusta.

The nondescript facade of the 'Casa do Alentejo' restaurant in Rua das Portas de Santo Antao hides a most beautiful Moorish interior. The price of the meal (reasonably high, but the food is excellent) is justified by the surroundings. Take a walk down Rua Augusta, the city's main shopping street but you will find that most goods can be found cheaper elsewhere. Stop and look at Sao Domingos Church, to the right of the National Theatre.

Lisbon famous landmark São Jorge Castle is less than 15 min walk from the apartment.

Convenient location

  • 4 of 5

First of all, be aware that the apartment is not in the building in the photo, which had been my impression when I booked it. It is situated up a fairly steep hill, about 5 minutes brisk walk from the Avenue and about 10 minutes from the centre of town. Our first impressions upon seeing the outside of the building was of disappointment, but once inside we were pleasantly surprised as it was a lovely apartment, recently refurbished to a modern standard and all spotlessly clean. It was also extremely well equipped. The lobby of the building however was very dreary, with paint peeling from the walls and the main front entrance door did not lock, which was a little concerning. We weren't overly concerned about safety, but would have been happier if the front entrance was secured at night as has always been our experience in the past when staying in apartments of this type. We visited some excellent restaurants over the 3 nights - there was a talented singer/guitarist at the Brazilian steakhouse where we spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening and the Italian restaurant was also very good. I can also recommend the hop on/hop off bus as a way of seeing the sights, and the Tukxi for exploring the steep, narrow streets of the old town. For convenience, I can recommend this apartment although probably not for anyone who finds walking uphill difficult. Also, be aware that on top of the booking fee the owner also requires a returnable deposit of £100 upon arrival and a further 45 euros for cleaning and laundry, which we weren't aware of until a week before. The deposit was returned upon our collection for the airport - complimentary airport transfers are included, which offsets the cleaning fee as we didn't have to book a taxi. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Great apartment

  • 4 of 5

This property was exactly what we needed when we traveled to Lisbon with our granddaughter, but bring your walking shoes, Lisbon is a very hilly city and the apartment is on very steep hill. The property is close to shopping, restaurants and many of the sights. We were sent detailed information about the area and the apartment prior to our arrival so we felt very well informed when we got there. They also provided free transportation to and from the airport.

Well equipped modern apartment in a reasonable location

  • 5 of 5

Location: Less than 10 minute walk from the train station (main tourist area starts just the other side of the station), good supermarket 5-10 mins up the hill (lots of smaller food shops within 2-3 mins). Underground 5-10 minute walk. You are not right in the tourist areas, which is probably reflected in the cost - however the location is less frenetic at the end of a hard-day sight seeing!

Looks: Don't be put off by the outside of the building, inside the apartment is really nice and well equipped.

Owner: I mucked up my email address on the homeaway website. The owner of the apartment was great in helping me sort it out. The (cost inclusive) airport transfer worked smoothly, making the journey so much easier.

Cost: Not mentioned is an additional €45 cleaning/laundry fee; on top of a €150 cash deposit. However the deposit was readily returned, with no problems what so ever.

Overall: Would happily stay here again.

Very good location

  • 4 of 5

The flat has got everything you need - well equipped, modern and clean. Excellent location to the town center, you just need to be fit to go up and down the hill. The flat itself is nicely furnished. We strongly recommend it.

A great central location for exploring Lisbon

  • 4 of 5

Don''t be dismayed by the entrance and stairwell. The flat is renovated, bright, airy and very comfortable. Beds were great, kitchen had all the necessary gadgets ( a two cup french press would be welcome ) and enough space to enjoy and relax. Lots of little markets nearby for food/beverages and very close to some fabulous restaurants. Jun picked us up at the airport and dropped us off at end of our stay - very helpful. This is a short, but steep climb up from the Libertad and close to higher end shopping. Bairra Alto a 15 minute walk ( everywhere in this city is up and down !).

Nice apartment but difficult location for drivers or people with disabilities

  • 3 of 5

We recently stayed in Lisbon for five nights in this apartments. Although the apartment itself was nice and clean,it was difficult to get to if you are driving to Lisbon. You have to park in a public lot about three hundred meters away up the hill, and then bring your luggage down the hill. The entrance to the apartment is disappointing but once you are inside its not bad. If you have any walking disabilities this apartment is not for you since you have to walk up one flight and there is no elevator, plus the street in front is a steep hill.

Location! Location! Location!

Baixa, or downtown Lisbon, is the heart of the city. It is the main shopping and banking district that stretches from the riverfront to the Avenida da Liberdade, with streets named according to the shopkeepers and craftsmen who traded in the area.

It was completely rebuilt after the Great Earthquake of 1755 with streets flanked by uniform, neoclassical buildings. This was Europe's first great example of neoclassical design and urban planning, and one of the finest European architectural achievements of the age.

It remains an imposing district, with elegant squares, pedestrianized streets, cafes, and shops. Old tramcars, street performers, tiled Art Deco shopfronts, elaborately decorated pastry shops and street vendors.

Other Activities: Museums, Theaters, Castles

Golf: Lisbon, situated on the north banks of the River Tagus, the charm of Lisbon exists in its strong links to the past. Its renovated palaces, magnificent churches and an impressive castle mirror the city's rich cultural heritage. Its eclectic blend of neighborhoods, culture and architecture distinguish this capital city uniquely from the other European capitals and make it a truly fascinating and comprehensive city to visit.

A city set on seven hills, as the legend tells, with its cobble-stoned pavements and narrow streets full of Art Nouveau cafés promises a lot to discover. Most popular spots in Lisbon are; located around Rossio and Praça do Comércio, Baixa; situated on the hill around St. George’s Castle, Alfama and Mouraria; and set on Tagus River, Belém.

Lisbon also hosts a great number of remarkable museums of ancient and modern art, some of which are Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, National Museum of Contemporary Art, National Coach Museum, Berardo Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and Carmo Archaeological Museum. But, Lisbon isn't all culture and history; Bairro Alto is the center of nightlife with various restaurants and bars where melancholic traditional Portuguese music, Fado, can also be listened.

When tired of sight-seeing, shopping in Lisbon will take all your tiredness away! The biggest shopping mall in Iberian Peninsula, Centro Commercial Colombo, will offer you innumerous options. For those who prefer to shop in local markets, there is a fascinating flea market at the Campo de Santa Clara.

The best way to discover Lisbon is to get lost in its narrow streets and up and down roads! Every narrow street will tell you a different story and every story will reach to your heart easily!
