Four star gold standard holiday cottage in the heart of the lakes.

Set in the historic stepping stones building as used by William Wordsworth's family, riverbank has everything a couple could want for a relaxing break in the picturesque Lake District.

We have endeavoured to provide the perfect environment to relax beit enjoying the spectacular panoramic views from the living room, or watching the embers glow in the open fire after a hard days walking the lakes.

Spend the night in the luxurious king size bed and wake up to the peace and idyl that is the essence of the Lake District.

A fully equipped kitchen is available if you decide not to use one of the many and varied local eateries. We also have a small outside terrace for drinking in the fabulous views.

With many repeat visitors we hope you will also see that riverbank can be the perfect place to spend your holiday in the lakes.

We are a small family with a large amount of Lakeland experience. With a mother from Ambleside and family throughout the lakes we have explored and enjoyed what the region has to offer.

Now we hope to use our experience and knowledge of what constitutes a great holiday home as well as our knowledge of the lakes to help make your stay truly special.

Absolutely Brilliant

From the moment we sent our initial email enquiry, to the time that we departed, David and Nick made us feel like family!

Not only were David and Nick an absolute joy, we found Riverbank to be such a treat. It has beautiful views, lovely décor, a wonderfully stocked kitchen including a nice size refrigerator and freezer, super comfy bed, plenty of storage, a dedicated parking space, and so much more… To top that off, you can walk right out the front door for a day in town, a little low level walk or an all-day Fell/Wainwright walk.

We would highly recommend lovely Riverbank. Thank you, Nick and David, for your kindness and for our fabulous stay.

Excellent loved it will be going back again

Location beautiful scenery lovely when opening curtains had beauitful weather so had breakfast outside fantastic people cottage well equipped had everything we needed. Very clean and cosy with open log fire.Would recommend Ambleside cottage to others definitely be going again next year. had a fantastic time thank you.

A peaceful retreat ideally situated.

Located in a very quiet setting with stunning views. Ideal for a variety of walks from the door and within easy reach of Ambleside and Grasmere by car or foot. Comfortable accommodation well equipped for self-catering needs. We had a very relaxed week with a mix of walking and sightseeing, recommended.

A perfect size for two people.

It was when I had to drive across a cattle grid I wondered what I had let myself into. The first impression, before entering the cottage was the view!!!! Priceless. You enter into the kitchen which is really quite large. The sitting room was snug and there were logs waiting to be lit. Best of all the bed was so comfy and a selection of pillows a rarity. A perfect base and so many walks on your doorstep. Brilliant.

Lovely cozy cottage in beautiful setting!

We had a wonderful stay in Riverbank Cottage. From the very beginning, Nick was extremely responsive and helpful. The cottage was beautiful, the description is accurate, and I'd say it's larger than it appears. Airy with lots of natural light and tranquil views of the mountains and meadows (with the sheep, including lambs!). Plenty of room for a couple. The kitchen is well-stocked so we were able to cook meals, which we like to do. The bed was so comfortable with an excellent mattress and beautiful linens. That is extremely important to us (we spent our last night in a hotel near Manchester, and we bemoaned the fact that we weren't sleeping in the bed at Riverbank!). Although we had a car, we walked into Ambleside several times along a quiet little road following the river, and we also walked to Rydal Hall and Grasmere. We would love to return, and we highly recommend Riverbank Cottage to anyone looking for a beautiful, conveniently-located, cozy cottage.

Great spot, nice accommodation

Perfect spot between Ambleside and grasmere - walks from the door from this lovely accommodation. Very helpful owner who arranged our stay at very short notice. Lots of hot water and the apartment was lovely and warm. Lovely riverside views from the bedroom and lounge- great for a peaceful break.
