About this property

Traditional Tuscan farmhouse with stunning views

This beautiful farmhouse has been split into two different areas; the upper floor (accessible by a short stair case) is where you will be staying. The ground floor of the farmhouse (also a vacation rental) has completely separate entrance and separate and opposite outdoor space. Belvedere (lit: beautiful view) is situated on a hilltop with breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside with vineyards and olive trees in the immediate vicinity and mountain / forest views in the distance. It’s near enough for ready access to Siena (only 10 minutes drive) yet remote enough for you to enjoy your piece of Tuscan tranquility.
Traditional Tuscan architecture, characterized by terracotta floors & exposed wooden beams is common throughout, including the three spacious bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. A dining table that seats 8 will be the centre of some great feasts and memories or you can choose to eat around the more cosy kitchen table. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots and pans, glassware & ceramics, enabling you to cook up your own meals if you so desire.
Come and enjoy the 'Dolce far niente' - the sweetness of doing nothing by grabbing a book, cooking up a meal & playing some chess or cards. Alternatively use this as a base for countless day trips to explore Tuscany & beyond.

Just Perfect
This is the second time we have stayed at Belvedere. We loved it the first time, and loved it even more the second. Belvedere can be used as a place to relax, and as a base for exploration. In both respects it is just perfect. What do I love most about it? Without doubt, the stunning view from the kitchen window every time I open the shutters in the morning. The property is spacious and very well-equipped. The bedrooms are comfortable, each with en-suite facilities. The main living area makes you feel very much at home. The kitchen has every piece of equipment you could reasonably wish for. Outside, there is a wonderful terrace area: ideal for breakfast and evening meals. I can recommend without reservation. We will definitely think about visiting again in a future year.

Better than what it says on the tin
Belvedere surpasses expectations. The photographs and descriptions do not do it justice: it has to be seen and experienced to be believed. Opening the kitchen window every morning was simply magical: the thrill never faded. The view is stunning. The owners have left nothing to chance. The bedrooms and bathrooms have everything you could want – the showers, in particular, are superb. Likewise, the kitchen is well equipped and the main lounge airy and comfortable. It was hot while we were here (36 degrees and beyond) but it is easy to keep the house cool, and there is often a delightful breeze which takes the edge off the temperature. The beautiful city of Siena is easily accessible – less than 5 miles away. It is also well situated for places such as San Gimignano, Montalcino and Certaldo, to name but three. Despite its isolated location – one of the many attractions of the property – it is as secure as you could wish. A helpful caretaker maintains a reassuring but unobtrusive presence on the ground floor. ‘Bel vedere’ can be translated into English as ‘lovely view. Never was a property more aptly named. I cannot praise it highly enough, and very much hope we will return some day.

This is a very special house - we couldn't have been happier with it! Communication with the host was great, the house is a step into another, beautiful life. There are views of the Tuscan hills and Siena and cozy beds to sleep in. Can't wait to return!

Heaven in Tuscany
This place was the highlight of our trip to Italy. It was everything we wanted. The view from every window is like a painting. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spacious to hang out in for some private time. We ate many of our meals on the wonderful terrace outside. Pia, a tourist guide, lives downstairs. We hired her for tours with excellent results. Kati, a chef, can be hired to cook dinner for you or teach a cooking class. That was delicious. The kitchen has the equipment you need. Each person in our group wants to return to this place. We highly recommend it.

Hi we are Carola & Adam and we are citizens of the world!
We have been living in the Middle East for quite some time but we travel to Italy as often as we can. Everything in Belvedere has belonged to Carola's family for centuries and have been either preserved or restored with love. We cherish the idea that we can share this heritage with someone new. Open all drawers, leaf through the books and feel at home. We only ask you to treat the place and its odds and ends as if it was your own cause this place truly represents a piece of our hearts.

Why they chose this property

This property and most of its furniture has been in Carola's family for generations. We cherish the idea that we can share this heritage with other people while we are living abroad, giving the opportunity for others to experience the beauty of this piece of Tuscany. Belvedere (lit: beautiful view) farmhouse is only 10 minutes’ drive from the heart of Siena. Situated on a remote hilltop with breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside with vineyards and olive trees in the immediate vicinity and mountain / forest views in the distance. It’s near enough for ready access to Siena yet remote enough for your private piece of Tuscan tranquility.

What makes this property unique

Siena is one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval cities in Europe with an absolutely stunning cathedral Il Duomo. The hospital of Santa Maria della Scala is said to be the oldest hospital in the world. The Piazza del Campo is a beautiful sight any day of the year but transforms to its medieval state for the famous Palio di Siena every 2nd of July & 16th August. Each contrada or section of the city battles it out for the famous bareback horserace around city centre.
Belvedere is also a fantastic location to base yourself for day trips to Florence and many other towns dotted around Tuscany such as San Gimignano, Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano. A trip to the abbey Monte Oliveto Maggiore for evening vespers followed by dinner in the quaint walled village of Buonconvento is highly recommended. Further afield are classic medieval towns such as Cortona, Perugia and Assisi and to the west, the Isle of Elba is a day or overnight trip.
Alternatively you can escape for days on end with only a few minutes’ drive or a 15 minute walk to the local shops for a coffee, an ATM or to top up the essentials – some local bread & milk, a bottle of Chianti, some fresh pasta or an array of regional cheeses. There are plenty of supermarkets only a short drive away if you are really stocking up or if you don’t feel like cooking there are many options for dining at a short drive.
