Great location, lovely hosts
Really lovely cottage in the grounds of the host's home. Beautiful gardens and a swimming pool that our daughter loved playing in. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

Bicycle Lodge - a perfect summer stay
We stayed in Bicycle Lodge for 7 weeks and had a fabulous time. John and Sharon were perfect hosts - easy to engage with and always helpful. We fell in love with their dog Zoe who has the nicest temperament ever! The accommodation is in a great location with easy access to the coast, central Cape Town, Constantia, local vineyards and just over an hour to Franschhoek. We found the bedrooms to be spacious and beds very comfortable, and overall, the accommodation nice and homely. Sharon and John keep their plot in perfect shape with lovely trees, shrubs and water feature. If you choose to stay here then it would be very hard not to have a wonderful time!

Immaculate house with everything you need.
Sharon and John were super hosts, very friendly and informative, the house was in a perfect quiet location but central for all Cape Town activities, a beautiful garden with all sorts of interest and lovely outdoor seating, small pool but perfect for a cool down! Thank you for your hospitality x

Tranquil home from home and a perfect base for exploring the Cape
My husband and I and our 2 friends have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Cape Town. Bicycle Lodge was a great find, located in a quiet, residential area in the attractive suburb of Tokai. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by John and Sharon, the owners, and their friendly dog, Zoe. The property is spacious and tastefully furnished with good sized bedrooms and plenty of storage space and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and seating areas. We loved sitting on the terrace eating our breakfast whilst watching the wildlife including birds, squirrels and lizards. Zoe would often join us for a biscuit and a tummy tickle! There is a lovely pool ideal for cooling off on warmer days and there are sun beds and small deckchairs with beach towels provided. We hired a car for the 2 weeks of our stay and explored a lot of the Cape, including the wine route and as nowhere was further than a couple of hours drive away it was ideal for days out. Our favourite places were Kirstenbosch Botanic Garden’s ( just up the road), Boulder Bay to see the penguins, Simonstown, Stellenbosch, Franschoek, Hout Bay, Llandudno, Cape of Good Hope ( but avoid the baboons!) Table Mountain, Bo- Kaap and the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town. Eating out was an amazing experience as the quality of food and wine is so high and the prices are so low! We tried many of the local restaurants and without exception they were all excellent with friendly service and spotlessly clean. Just across the road from Bicycle Lodge there is a small row of shops and restaurants and we enjoyed wonderful breakfasts and lunches at Bootleggers and dinners at The Brasserie. A couple of miles up the road at Steenberg Village centre is a larger shopping precinct with 2 good supermarkets selling everything you need and a number of restaurants, all of which we tried. Jakes in the Village, The Hussar Grill, Basilico and Fish Market all served delicious freshly cooked food. We also had a lovely final evening of wine tasting at Steenberg Estate followed by wonderful tapas at the BistroSixteen 82. There are walking and cycling trails around Tokai and John, a keen cyclist, kindly lent my husband one of his mountain bikes and took him for a spin around the area which he really enjoyed. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Bicycle Lodge and can highly recommend it. We loved everything about S Africa and hope to return again before too long!

Bicycle Lodge is an exceptional base for a stay in Cape Town.
Our second visit. First visited in 2012, always planned to return but our dates were never available, so we made a special effort to reserve well in advance to stay for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year 2018/19. Sharon and John are brilliant hosts, always available to offer help and advice but never intrusive. Tokai is an ideal location for visiting Cape Town and the Western Cape. Just 30 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes from the waterfront and 35 minutes from the beach at Camps Bay. The closest beach is Muizenberg, about 15 minutes away. The Brasserie restaurant and Bootleggers coffee shop are 2 minutes walk away and both are popular locations with excellent food and drink. Constantia Village with it's shops, restaurants and supermarkets is 10 minutes away, and the large Blueroute shopping mall 5 minutes away. The facilities at Bicycle Lodge are first class, milk and water in the fridge on arrival along with biscuits. The wine rack is fully stocked for you, just replace the bottles you drink. The kitchen has everything you need, Sharon and John have thoughtfully provided a second fridge which increases the amount of food and drink which you can keep cool and therefore reduces the number of shopping trips you need to make. We enjoyed picking tomatoes from John's garden to enjoy with our braiis. The garden is busy with lots of birds feeding on an endless supply of food provided by John. You might also see a squirrel or two. You will certainly be visited by Zoe the resident dog who is friendly, quiet and loves the attention of the guests. We loved our early morning walks around the 4.75km perimeter path in Tokai Park which is just 10 minutes walk away and has great views of the surrounding area. There are numerous good golf courses nearby and it is easy to arrange tee times. On two of our visits to Cape Town we have enjoyed a day watching cricket at Newlands, a first class sporting venue with the amazing backdrop of Table Mountain. In summary Bicycle Lodge is exceptional and Sharon and John's hospitality was a major contribution to another wonderful holiday in South Africa. We even got married whilst we were there!
