It is conveniently located (no more than 30 minutes drive) for Killarney, Dingle and Tralee. It is situated next to the owners farmhouse and their smallholding comprising donkeys, sheep and chickens, together with four acres of grounds. A river runs through the property and access to the mountain behind is possible via a small country lane adjacent to the cottage. Inch Beach with it's four miles of white sand and dunes(and increasingly a surfing and paragliding mecca) is no more than 15 minutes drive whilst the beauty of Killarney National Park and it's lakes are also within easy reach. About the property

Farmhouse & Cottages

River Farm comprises two cottages for rental - ANNIES COTTAGE, sleeping 6 and one of the most popular holiday cottages in Kerry and RIVER COTTAGE, sleeping 5 - an original Kerry Farmhouse that has been lovingly renovated and updated over the last ten years. Both cottages are surrounded by fields and a small stream runs through the property. It is very safe for children as both cottages are approached via a small ‘dead end’ lane which runs up to the mountain behind the cottages. The owners fields are occupied by pet sheep and lambs (in season), together with donkeys and free range hens. Views of the sea are possible from the garden as well as from Annie’s Cottage. Inch Beach with it's four miles of white sand and dunes(and increasingly a surfing and paragliding mecca) is no more than 15 minutes drive, whilst the beauty of Killarney National Park and it's lakes are also within easy reach. A local grocery shop (8am to 10pm, daily) is only 10 mins. walk away. Dogs are welcome.

Proximity to the best Kerry attractions and sites: Annie's Cottage is ideally situated for Killarney National Park, and the Kerry Way, the Dingle Peninsula and Tralee.

A 30 minute drive will allow you to visit Muckross House, the famous Killarney Lakes, Angel Falls, Ross Castle, the old Copper mInes, the Gap of Dunloe and Kate Kearney's Cottage as well as walk throughout the beautiful meadows, mountains and woods of Killarney National Park.

From Killarney you can embark on the Kerry Way by foot or cycle or drive to the end of the Ring of Kerry (and back) visiting Killorglin, Glebeigh, Caherciveen, Valentia Island, Waterville, Caherdaniel, Sneem and Kenmare - a memorable journey indeed.

Similar excursions by car and foot can take place on the Dingle Peninsular discovering the wild scenery, breathtaking mountain passes and white sandy beaches. This peninsular also has the highest concentration of megalithic sites in Europe.

A catalogue of festivals - food, music, culture, film and horseracing - take place throughout the year

About Nick Wynne-Morgan

Anne & I have lived in Kerry for the last 16 years but prior to that spent every summer enjoying the beauty and attractions of this beautiful part of the world. We have seven children and an increasing number of grandchildren. We love the Kerry scenery and the friendliness of the people and the local community here.

Nick Wynne-Morgan purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Nick Wynne-Morgan chose County Kerry

River Cottage is located on the Dingle Peninsula, off the main road but close enough to both Killarney and Dingle town. It is a quiet and a safe place for children to stay and is located amongst 4 acres of smallholding on which we have our donkeys, sheep & lambs, cats and a dog as well as our orchard and organic vegetable gardens. There are views of the Slieve Mish mountains behind and the sea in front of the cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

Location, Views, Pets & animals, a river running through the property, safe environment for children, owners on site to help with any question, lovely gardens and safe walks to the sea or mountains.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Immense gratitude for sharing your beautiful farm and guest house with our family!

Both kids adored the sheep, donkeys, dog and cats. We enjoyed exploring the Dingle peninsula and hiking the Strickeen trail at the Gap of Dunloe. The morning rainy hike in the hills behind the cottage was so memorable. This cottage was a great home base for us to return to when we needed to rest and regroup. We hope to come back again!

From our hearts. Thank you!!

There is a very efficient oil central heating system in the cottage. The heat is adjustable both upstairs and downstairs and by individual room, if necessary. The heating of hot water and radiators is metered and is charged at 3 euros per unit. An average 'summer week' would utilise an average of 5-6 units (15-18 euros per week). Cooking is also via an electric hob and oven. Any kitchen waste and refuse can be given to the owners for disposal at the end of the rental term although we do ask that guests separate glass, newspapers, tins and plastic for recycling. A washing machine and separate dryer is provided, together with a washing line to dry clothes, as well as a drying rack for indoors. Secure private parking for up to two cars is available off road and next to the cottage.

Fun place to stay while exploring the Dingle

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable private house with nice views (including the stars from bed!). We all loved the outside animals - Jala the dog, the two cats and donkeys. Hosts were very helpful with planning and when they noticed her interest, went out of their way to include our daughter in feeding the donkeys. The Dingle peninsula is just so beautiful and interesting- we enjoyed an evening music session in a nearby pub, exploring Dingle town, walking on Inch Beach, and taking the Slea Head drive.

Owner's Response: Heather managed to fit in much with her family in just four days on the Dingle Peninsula. Music sessions, Dingle Town, Slea Head Drive and Inch beach are just some of the attractions in one direction and then you have Killarney and the National Park just 25 minutes in the other direction. Plenty to do over 2 weeks even!

Owner's Response: Michele & Joel were wonderful guests and just great fun! They appreciated everything that we suggested and loved our animals ( far more than we ever do!"). We'd love to host such a happy couple again - and anyone else they care to throw our way!

Quintessential Irish Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Annie’s cottage was a perfect choice for my family’s vacation. The cottage is as pictured. It is immaculately clean, and very tastefully decorated. It is exceptionally comfortable and welcoming. The cottage also has all amenities including a well equipped kitchen with washer and dryer, coffee maker, and all necessary utensils and cookware.

The cottage is located at the beginning of the Dingle Peninsula which has been described as one of the most beautiful places on earth. This is not an overstatement. You will not regret your choice of place. There is beauty here that is comparable to America’s most spectacular national parks..breathtaking panaramas of mountains, cliffs, ocean. There are places here that will restore your faith and heal a broken soul.

You will fall in love with the animals. The sheepdog was aptly described by a prior visitor as “the friendliest dog in the world,” and so she is. The donkeys are very cute and we were amused to find that they like to have people talk to them. And, there are two gentle cats.

Anne and Nick will provide whatever help you need. They are exceptionally gracious hosts.

For groceries, Benson’s is good and very close. For restaurants and pubs, our favorites were Larkin’s in Milltown; Murphy’s on R561; Adams in Dingle.

Nick and Anne leave helpful instructions in the cottage so we managed quite well. We found the cost of heating oil to be very reasonable (we used about $23 Euros per week). We are from the New England area of the USA so Ireland's climate was mild for us. I thought the cottage's stone walls retained heat well. We seldom needed to turn it on.

All in all, we had a wonderful time and I would recommend this lovely cottage as a beautiful place to vacation.

Owner's Response: Mary has said it all! What a wonderful summary of all that we, ourselves, think is good about our cottage ( but we would, wouldn't we, as we own and run it!). If you're looking for appreciative, friendly, fun-loving, kind and generous guests, Mary Kay and Bob are up there with the best of them! Please take a leaf out of their book and come and enjoy the delights of Annie's Cottage and this breathtakingly beautiful part of the world! We will enjoy hosting all those who share Mary Kay & Bob''s love of life!

our stay at Annie's cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Annie's Cottage (2 adults, 2 children Age of 4 and 2). Cottage was clean and cozy, nice little garden incl. the owners animals, cats, dog, sheeps and donkeys. Beautiful sea view out of the bedroom windows. Location was approx. within 30 min. of Dingle and 10min of beautyful Inch beach (which we fell in love with). Owners were on holidays themselves during our stay but all was organized perfectly via email in advance and a nice lady (Lorna) came over to welcome us. I would recommend this property to our friends and relatives.

Beautiful holidays at a beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We spent six great days at Annie´s cottage. It is a beautiful cottage with everythig you could wish for. Nick is a very friendly and helpful host, he was very careing whenever we had a request. He even gave us a hint where to go on sundy night, there is a lovely small pub called foley´s and there we had the chance to enjoy typical Irish live music. The location of the cottage is very idyllic with view to the mountains and sea. Inch beach is very close and worth a visit. It was always fun to have the dog, donkeys and cats around, especially the cats which were sitting very decorative on the windowsill. Annie´s cottage is also a good base for trips around the Ring of Kerry. We can highly recommend to book one of Nick´s cottages. Thank you so much for a great time at the Dingle Peninsula.
