About Duncan

We are a family of 4 from Kent. Both parents having been born in the more mountainous parts of the UK, we have a natural affinity with the Alps throughout the seasons.

Although we have a love of the great outdoors and fine food (even the kids) we are by no means from the 'champagne set', but its lovely to dream.

Duncan purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Duncan chose Chamonix

We purchased this apartment with the intention of retiring here one day. Everything from appliances to light switches are the kind you would feel happy with using on a daily basis, with a touch of sophistication. We are hands-on owners and visit a few times a year to keep everything new, fresh, and upgraded. We replace items regularly and add amenities. We have included loads of little extras you often don't find in rental properties to make this your best vacation possible. We hope we have touches that will make you feel at home and in the lap of luxury.

Its proving to be a great place within which our children are growing up, with the summer months in particular offering a wide variety of things to keep them engaged.

It's also produced a real extreme sports enthusiast of their father!

We'd love you to come here for one holiday, then return for every vacation.

What makes this apartment unique

It's a quiet residential block with very few people living in it all year round. This makes it a peaceful location with easy parking.

We love coming back each year and spotting the new developments throughout the town, whether new spas, shops, restaurants, lifts or even road layouts :-)

And, you can never get board of the view from the balcony, even if Dad does keep reminding us that he's 'bagged that mountain'.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you, dinner was fantastic (food and meal delivery service available). We were recommended this place by an expat we met, and it's a good one. Thanks for your assistance on the trip, your support was very appreciated and made our trip one of the best. We will recommend your service to others!

Great location, good size rooms

  • 5 of 5

Great staff, really helpful even though we had an awkward arrival time. Good local knowledge and happy to give advice about best places to go.

Apartment was excellent. Think we'll be booking up again.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was a great rental experience for us. Excellent comms with Duncan and Jane before we arrived. Great local team to meet us on arrival - Nico and Sari gave us some great suggestions of things to do for the week. Lovely accommodation and the views are amazing.

We bought a multi day lift pass which gave us great access to the Aiguille, Mer de Glace and the Balcon Sud. Good value compared to a one day pass and the non consecutive option allows you to tie in with the weather (which can be very changeable). We also went rafting in nearby Passy, which was great fun, even in the rain!

We had a lovely dinner in Le P'tit Verte in Argentiere.

Overall great value and a great experience.

Excellent, peaceful apartment. Well furnished and a pleasure to stay in

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year that I've stayed in this same apartment (see an earlier review for more details). I was pleased to see that this time around, there were even a few upgrades such as a new nicer refrigerator. The view is (obviously) exactly as stellar as before, and the neighbors as quiet as before. Chamonix did add a bus line to the street that wasn't there two years ago, but that does not impact how quiet this location is--it continues to be peaceful and an ideal distance from town center and nearest grocery stores. The owners and operators were very helpful and accommodating. I look forward to another stay at this property hopefully soon in the upcoming next year or two:)

Situated on three national borders, the Mont-Blanc Massif is protected jointly by France, Switzerland and Italy. Plans are currently underway to have Mont-Blanc listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Chamonix is a town where charm and tradition share the scene with modern resort facilities. The architectural heritage has been preserved, giving a unique atmosphere to the resort. Traditional village hamlets are located up and down the 23 km Chamonix valley.

Chamonix is truly an all year round resort, where you’ll find many of the 100 shops open ‘out of season’. During the winter it is famed for its diverse skiing, particularly off-piste (e.g. Vallee Blance), with 90% of its three resorts above 2,000 metres. While in the summer extreme sport enthusiasts turn their attention to mountaineering, given that Mont- Blanc is the highest mountain in Europe at 4,810 m.

Entertainment and events are in abundance in Chamonix and the surrounding areas.

Other Activities: Canyoning, hydro gliss, white water rafting, climbing, ice skating, bowling, kayaking, indoor climbing, road cycling

Ski: Chamonix is one of the world's most famous ski areas, having hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels are well-served in a variety of differing areas around Chamonix, including Brevent, Flegere, the famous Grands Montets and Domaine du Balme. The Mont Blanc pass also covers nearby areas including Les Houches, St Gervais, Megeve, Courmayeur and Les Contamines, all within an easy drive. Slightly further afield, but within an hour's drive are Verbier, La Thuile, Flaine and Les Carroz. Despite its reputation as an area for experts only, there are plenty of green, blue and red runs to satisfy beginners and intermediates alike. For the more experienced, Chamonix has miles and miles of adventurous off-piste, including the famous Vallee Blanche, an 18km experience from the Aiguille du Midi down to the town.
