This superb holiday villa, originally dating back to the 12th century, has been beautifully and sympathetically restored by the owners. There is an excellent large kitchen with separate area for relaxation, a wonderfully spacious lounge, large bedrooms and wooden beams throughout.

Set in 7 hectares of meadow (approx. 18 acres), bordered by a stream and trees, it is within walking distance of the River Dordogne and 5 minutes drive to canoe rental for exploring one of the most beautiful rivers in France. The charming medieval town of Martel, with its twice-weekly traditional covered market, is close by, as are some of the best regional restaurants in the surrounding villages and towns.

There are 2 bedrooms on the second floor (a double and a twin) and an area on the first floor which has a comfortable double sofa bed which can be screened off to provide extra sleeping accommodation. Visitors will understand why further bedrooms could not be formed without spoiling the ambiance and charm of this fantastic property.

ACCOMMODATION

GROUND FLOOR:

A large, light and sunny, fully fitted kitchen with ample cupboards, work surfaces, heated towel rail, picture window, oak beams, tiled floor. Contains a kitchen/dining table with seating for 8.

Step down to a lounge area with a comfortable sofa, open fireplace (not working). Attractive free standing screens to give privacy from the kitchen if needed.

Off the lounge area is a bathroom with shower cubicle, wash hand basin, and toilet.

FIRST FLOOR:

A spiral staircase from the ground floor leads to an open plan spacious lounge, perfectly appointed with windows to the east, south and west, beautiful curtains, comfortable settees, a separate double sofa bed, coffee table, English satellite TV, large open fireplace (unused).

A 2nd bathroom with bath and in-bath shower, wash hand basin, toilet.

SECOND FLOOR:

The master bedroom with double bed, chest of drawers, dressing table, windows to 3 aspects and views. En suite bathroom with bath, toilet and wash hand basin.

Twin bedroom with 2 single beds, chest of drawers, dressing table, windows to 3 aspects.

Ample wardrobe/storage space on the landing.

OUTSIDE:

Sunny, tiled terrace outside kitchen for al fresco dining

Lavender pathway to the enclosed private swimming pool with amazing views of the Quercy cliffs beyond

The pool is 1m at the shallow end graduating to 2m at the deep end

Covered, purpose-built BBQ area with chimney, garden table and chairs

Wonderful holiday villa near the Dordogne river

We were six guests at the house - it was large and comfortable and the views are to die for. The house offers almost complete isolation whilst being within an easy drive of Martel and Vayrac - both fantastic market towns within 6km. The pool was fabulous as are the two terraces. It's a fantastic house for children (the pool is safe and gated) and adults alike! Highly recommended!

Blissful relaxation

La Veyrie is an amazing house in an incredible setting. The house itself is beautifully furnished and very well equipped- spotlessly clean on arrival with lovely quality bedding and towels. Outside is the most magnificent space which is private and secluded. The pool is glorious and we spent many sunny days dipping in and out. The games barn held many competitions for us in the evenings after BBQing (in another special area outside). There are many places locally to explore on bikes and the cycling is very safe with many tracks and small country lanes. We spent two days kayaking and canoeing- Safaraid were brilliant- and chose the most straight forward of routes with three children but you can go much further. Martel and Vayrac are gorgeous towns with plenty of cafes etc. The market in Martel is worth several trips: wine, walnuts, white nectarines, bread and cakes, caramel sauce- I could go on! All in all, a place to relax, enjoy and explore- we love it!

Idyllic French retreat

We have stayed at La Veyrie on many occasions. It's a lovely French country house, tastefully furnished and well-equipped in beautiful surroundings. The house sits in its own substantial grounds: there's always lots of wildlife to see so binoculars are a must. There's a super private swimming pool, and a large barn with table tennis table, darts and boules. The River Dordogne is close by where you can enjoy canoeing, swimming and picnics. The nearby town of Martel is very picturesque with a twice-weekly market and an excellent choice of places to eat. There are lots of other stunning towns and villages and interesting places to visit within easy driving distance from the house. We would highly recommend a holiday at La Veyrie for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Outstanding holiday home in a fabulous location.

We have stayed here for many fabulous summer holidays. It is a truly unique property and ideally located for both tranquil relaxation and numerous tourist destinations are within easy reach. The property is very private and considerable thought has gone into providing everything for a luxurious stay. The property is immaculate and extremely well maintained. The historic town of Martel is only a short drive away and is full of character. It has a variety of restaurants and cafes and all the necessary amenities such as supermarkets, chemists and bread shops. The markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays are a must as is a canoe trip from nearby Vayrac. Communication with the letting agent is excellent and very professional. We have rented this property over a period of ten years and have never had a problem. We would highly recommend this property to friends and family and look forward to more stays in the coming years.

Great stay at La Verrie

My friends and I had a fabulous stay at La Verrie. The house, the gardens and surrounding areas all exceeded our expectations. The Countryside and local villages are stunning. We loved the fact that La Verrie is beautiful inside as well as out - everything was immaculate. We would recommend some of the local walks and to do some canoeing on the river - great fun. We would like to return next summer.

Happy days

We were lucky enough to stay in this beatiful and very well equipped holiday house for two weeks. Since the weather was good, with temperatures between 25-30 degrees and lots of sun, we used the swimming pool quite often. We have a little girl so it's a comforting thought that the entire pool area is fenced. Besides the house itself, the area also has a lot to offer. We visited several chateaus, went to the Gardens of the Manor of Eyrignac and met the monkeys in Foret des Singes. Long story short: we had a very enjoyable time at La Veyrie and hope to be back sometime in the future..
