About the property

3 bedrooms, sleeps 6 comfortably, close to all amenities

Home House is a stylish house with historical plaque, retaining it's original Georgian features but with a few contemporary touches added. It is divided between 4 floors. In the light basement is the kitchen and dining area, with a door opening to a private courtyard garden. With a dining room table and 10 chairs this is a wonderfully spacious place for friends to eat and chat. We have a range cooker, a dishwasher, a huge fridge freezer, a washer dryer and a microwave oven. There is an IPOD dock with a digital radio. There are two sitting rooms. One small sitting room/vestibule and a larger main sitting room with a sofa bed. We have a flat screen TV and a DVD player, an alcove filled with games for all ages, plus a large library with books to appeal to all. We have a large family bathroom with WC, bath and shower. Also a very quirky little en-suite with second WC and wash basin off the master bedroom with kingsize bed. 2 more bedrooms on the top floor, one with a double bed and the other with full size twin beds. A large shower room can be accessed from either room on the top floor.

About Fiona Lewis

We bought and restored Home House Ramsgate in 2009. We'd just had our first baby and fell in love with Ramsgate for it's sandy beach and seaside charm. We have since had another child and Home house Ramsgate has given us the opportunity to enjoy many wonderful holidays with family and friends. We love it and hope you will too.

Fiona Lewis purchased this house in 2009

Why Fiona Lewis chose Kent

We loved this house immediately for it's feel and character. A Georgian townhouse with plenty of space to fill with friends and family. The location is perfect as it's situated on a quiet road away from the hustle and bustle - yet only a few minutes away from the town centre and the marina/seafront. Home House Ramsgate is a gorgeous, unique house in a fantastic spot giving little (or tired!) legs the benefit of reaching the beach in several minutes. This proves to be a winner when forced to carry numerous buckets and spades of every shape and size!

What makes this house unique

We put an awful lot of thought into the restoration of this house. Leaving all original features yet building in things like our shower room on the top floor, using tiles made by our friend and acclaimed artist Rob Ryan. We also built a little quirky second WC/en-suite on the first floor. The paint used for the walls is Farrow and Ball as we felt the shades from their catalogue best suited this wonderful property, steeped in history. In 2011 we were delighted to be awarded a blue historical plaque from the Ramsgate Historical Society as Sir William Jordan, New Zealand High Commissioner, was born in the house.

Ths corner of Kent and this house in particular act as a great base for you to explore a part of the world which is deeply rich in history and cultural significance. It's a great spot for a holiday, a fun place to be with the locals making you feel welcome, and there's lot to see and do for the little ones, if you have any with you.

A lovely relaxing weekend

  • 4 of 5

A lovely house for 5 busy working mums to escape to!!!

Lots of space, nice sitting room to put our feet up in, a big kitchen table to all sit round, and lovely deep bath to relax in!!

Beach just a few minutes walk away, and house tucked nicely away from too much noise, but just round the corner from a great selection of restaurants.

The owner, Fiona, was very helpful and friendly.

Thanks for a great weekend.

Fantastic holiday rental

  • 5 of 5

A group of 6 of us (3 couples) stayed at Home House for 3 nights over the New Year. We have a fantastic stay and would thoroughly recommend Home House to anyone looking to stay in and explore Ramsgate and the Thanet area. The house is exactly as described on the website - comfortable, spacious, lots of character and centrally located (2 minutes walk to the harbor and high street and just around the corner from a waitrose).

A fabulous long weekend in the Spring.

  • 4 of 5

A great house in a great location. We loved the great range of books and games so our 3 and 6 year olds were well occupied on a rainy day after a visit to the Spitfire Museum.

A couple of issues were resolved immediately by Fiona. Fabulous. The four floors meant our thighs were firmer after dashing up and down stairs to get things!

I loved the Robert Rayn tiles.

Quaint house with quality facilities

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing family time over the christmas week with the 3 kids and my parents despite the weather conditions that swept the coastline. The kitchen was a perfect space to enjoy our festivities and Ben the property manager saw to our special requirements to make our stay special. The decor and quality of the bed linen and bedding was brilliant and I would not hesitate to recommend this for family get togethers. The location of the property meant that everything was within walking distance which is a huge advantage.

A gorgeous, chic house

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I often stay in private rentals on the English coast, normally opting for a traditional feel. We fancied something different - and Home House delivered! It is a large four storey terrace house, set one street back from the harbour road. It looks like a traditional seaside/small town terrace from the outside, but the inside is cutting edge cool. Clean lines, hi-spec electricals, large luxurious beds, exposed floor boards, stand alone roll top bath. The kitchen is the entire lower ground floor with a large table to cater for larger groups. There are two living rooms (one little and one large) - one for the kids? - and these are warm and cosy. The shower room on the top floor adjoins two rooms and is tiled with Rob Ryan tiles - just fabulous!

There is a small private back garden, which we didn't use because it is January, but would provide outside space for a barbie in Summer.

Ramsgate is a charming harbour town with a lovely harbour - very close to where we stayed - and a long beach. Great for walks! It was a bit chilly for swimming, so instead, we perused the many charity shops and spent far too long in the very accommodating Belgian Bar on the sea front!

There's lots to explore and Home House provided a cool and charming base to explore it from.

Ramsgate is a wonderfully picturesque seaside town with a beautiful blue flag sandy beach and a wealth of restaurants, bars and places of interest to visit. With it's Royal Harbour (the only one in the UK) and the old Clockhouse, which houses the Maritime Museum, you can gaze out to sea and relax. Whether you want an energetic holiday walking, cycling or taking part in heart-racing water sports - or pottering around museums and other historical attractions - or perhaps playing golf on one of many championship courses available locally - there are plenty of things for everyone to get involved with, rain or shine. There are some amazing nature reserves, trail walks and a fantastic safari park nearby. Broadstairs, an old haunt of Charles Dickens, is an easy and enjoyable walk, along the cliffs or beach, half an hour away. Canterbury and Whitstable can be reached by bus and train or a short drive in the car. You can even hop on a ferry from Ramsgate and spend the day in Belgium.
