The City: VisitBrighton is the official Brighton tourism information guide for the city of Brighton and Hove.

England’s loveliest and liveliest city by the sea. Brighton and Hove is fun, cosmopolitan and uniquely eccentric all year round.

Regency architecture, pleasure pier, specialist shops, pavement cafés, lively arts scene and vibrant nightlife everything’s in walking distance, so take time to explore and enjoy.

And with a backdrop of the Sussex Downs and traditional English countryside, Brighton and Hove is a great base for exploring the region.

Brighton is one of the most vibrant, colourful and creative cities in Europe. Cosmopolitan, compact, energetic, unique, fun, lively, historic, young, exotic and free-spirited, it's a city like no other.

Nestling between the South Downs & the sea on the stunning south coast, Brighton offers everything from Regency heritage to beachfront cool.

A fantastic mix of iconic attractions, famed nightlife, award winning restaurants, funky arts.

Gay Brighton: Brighton has a thriving and diverse gay scene which ranges from leather bars, to country and western line dancing, to techno clubs. Brighton has long been known as the number one gay seaside resort in the south of England.

As well as the usual tourists and visitors Brighton also acts as a magnet for lesbians and gay men from all over the UK and abroad who are attracted by its bohemian atmosphere, easy going attitude and raffish air. This has led to one of the largest populations of lesbians and gay men in the UK. Much of the Brighton gay scene is concentrated in the Kemptown area of Brighton, the focal point being St James's Street and the Old Steine. It's here you'll find most of the clubs, shops and bars mentioned in the guide, so many in fact that Kemptown has become known as Brighton's Gay Village.

The perfect location for your Brighton Weekend break.

Why Mark or Pam Scanlon chose Kemptown

Amazing location, so near to the sea and everything the city has to offer yet located in a small private Mews away from the hustle and bustle. Perfect location to abandon the car, everywhere is within walking distance. Well planned interior means everything is at hand and the 3 bathrooms means there's always one free.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house was ideal for our essential requirements - good accommodation for three couples and their kids, three bathrooms, close to Brighton centre, with parking. Everything was clean and we had a great time at a family wedding. Handy choice of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The only reason for not rating it excellent was the lack of seating with lower back support for those of us who need it - the kitchen has benches and stools for dining, albeit plenty of them.

A perfect weekend retreat

  • 5 of 5

From the minute i enquired into the property with the owner Pam, it has been a pleasure. Pam responded quickly to emails and willingly shared information. On arrival we were greeted by Tina who was really friendly and showed us around. Pam had even left chocolates and wine for us which was a very nice touch! The property was clean throughout and perfect for what we needed it for as we didnt spend too much time in the house as we were on a Hen Party. We had to squeeze a little to fit 15 around the dinner table, but we weren't sat down for long.

The beds were comfy and towels were provided for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped with equipment that we required and there was plenty of crockery and glasses etc. Super handy having a dishwasher as we were able to throw everything in there without worrying. The only downside was the 6 bedroom was rather small and we struggled to get everyone's belongings in the room - as we were all women and we don't travel light hehe, but we just used the large hall way space outside so this was not an issue for us at all.

There was also an airer, ironing board etc that could be used.

I have already recommended this house to friends as it is in a lovely location. Near to the beach and there is a lovely park behind it that we spent a considerable amount of time in. All in all a really lovely place that you would be silly to not stay in!

Excellent property

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for a hen do. The location was brilliant, within walking distance of town and the Pier.

The property was clean and tidy on arrival and had everything you needed to get started for a self catered place. It was very easy to gain access to the property and we were shown around and had general things explained to us.

All the rooms were very well laid out and we all found the beds to be comfy and homely. The kitchen and living space could easily accommodate all of us which was perfect and meant we didn't need to be across 2 rooms of we didn't want to be.

Overall we we incredibly happy with the property and would certainly stay there again if we needed a property of that size. The owner Pam was very helpful and always quick to reposnd to any questions we had. I would also recommend her for any other properties she has.

Fantastic Comfortable and well equipped

  • 5 of 5

Was here for a week with my family , we were attending my daughters wedding. Plenty of room, nice neighbourhood. Premises on 3 floors allowing us to separate youngsters from elderly worked so well. Would recommend as one of the best holiday homes I have ever booked and I have been booking at least 2 per year for the last 20 years .Believe me you wont be disappointed
