In central Venice a beautiful apartment for 4 people

The apartment S. Tomà Giovanna is on the first floor of a 17th century palace facing the Gran Canal. The façade and the court yard as well as the roof of the palace have just been restored and the interiors have just been refurbished. The furnishing is very refined with many original pieces of the 18th century Venetian hand craft. San Tomà Giovanna is very comfortable for 4 people: the living room is a open space with 2 windows on the Gran Canal, from here you can reach the mezzanine with a king size double bed. On the corridor there is the main bathroom and on the back of the apartment you can find the kitchen, the twin bedroom with two windows overlooking a very narrow ally and the second bathroom.

The location is very central and the main attractions in Venice (San Marco, Rialto, Scuola Grande di San Rocco, Gallerie dell'Accademia) as well as shops, supermarkets and restaurants can be reached in a few minutes.

Traditional Venice apartment and great location

My wife and I had a very enjoyable time in this apartment. It is spacious with old venetian charm. The kitchen was sizable as were the bathrooms. The windows were right on the grand canal and the location is supurb. The vaporetto is right there. You can literally see it coming from your window and make it. San Toma restaurant in the plaza is our favorite. A super market is close by and the traghetto is just around the corner. There is a small restaurant right next to the apartment entrance with good takeout and for a quick lunch. It is a short walk to Campo san Barnaba which is our favorite campo. San Marquerita is close as well. Take the traghetto and you are at Campo St.Stefano. The owner was easy to work with and Tomas showed us in and was very helpful. Also, it has an elevator and with my bad knees it was a wonderful surprise. This was our seventh time renting in Venice and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

An attractive property in a great location

The apartment was just as described and clean.The view over the Grand Canal at the San Toma water bus stop was great! The central location was perfect for us. A member of the owner's family met my daughters and got them situated before I arrived.

Overall the apartment is very quiet.

The king bed in the the sleeping loft is is very comfortable, but the ceiling is low and anyone over 6 feet (1.85 meters) tall will have to duck under the beams. The back bedroom can get some noise from the street that will be noticed by light sleepers,

True Venetian Experience

We had a truly great stay in this nicely appointed Venetian apartment. We wanted to have a more old world experience and we got it! The pictures didn't do this apartment justice. The view of the Grand Canal was perfect. The convenience of having the vaporetto station right outside was great. The location of the apartment was a good jump off point, kind of in the middle, so you could easily walk to just about everywhere. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well appointed with everything you might need to make a meal and the owner was very easy to work with. We would recommend staying here in a heart beat!

Magnifique Palais sur le Grand Canal.Très bien meublé avec goût.Très propre et très bien équipé.La propriétaire Francesca Papafava est très gentille et attentionnée et veille à ce que ses hôtes ne manquent de rien.Nous avons passé un séjour enchanteur et l'arrêt San Toma est au pied du palais.C'est parfait.

This may be the best rentable flat in Venice.

Recently, my wife and I spent two terrific weeks here alternately

[1] doing our part to sustain the Venetian economy and [2] sipping wine while standing at the apartment's windows watching boat traffic on the Grand Canal.

The property was clean, spacious, accurately described on its web page, centrally located [approx. 25 steps from the S.Toma vaporetto stop], and superbly supported by its owners/managers.

I will return here on my next visit to Venice, and I recommend it without reservation to other travelers. What a sweet pleasure to return here following a hard day of touristing and know the security and charm of a lovingly restored 17th century palazzo.

It's a charming, beautiful flat, well worth the cost.

S.Tomà is located in the Sestriere (quarter) S. Polo, which together with the Sestriere S. Marco is the most central of Venice. The location is very easy to reach: only 15 minutes walk from the railway station and from the car park in Piazzale Roma. The vaporetto stop is S. Tomà and it is literally one minute away. The 2 main bridges crossing the Gran Canal are at 10 minutes walk: Rialto bridge with its famous fish marked and the Accademia bridge, where a stunning pinacoteque is located with works of the most important Venetian painters. The famous church ai Frari with paintings by Tiziano and Bellini and the School of S. Rocco with the work of Tintoretto are at 5 minutes from the palace. To cross the Gran Canal and reach the other important sights of Venice is very easy, you can do it with the gondola which is 3 minutes from S.Tomà or with the vaporetto which is just out side the palace. But if you like to walk, Piazza S. Marco is only 20 minutes away.
