A fantastic property, peace and tranquillity

  • 5 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at this delightful property. A fantastic property, well equipped, very comfortable, very quiet, peace and tranquillity in abundance, in a good location to explore this part of Normandy, the beaches and WWII sites, surrounding villages and cities. Because we enjoy exploring different places when we travel, we don't typically return to locations we have previously visited, but in this is case we plan to make an exception!

Thank you Tessa for letting us stay there and a big thank you to Louise who kept in touch throughout the week.

All one could ask.

  • 5 of 5

It is indeed picturesque and peaceful. Birds singing is all one can hear for hours as passing vehicles are very rare. Beds are good. The kitchen has everything one might need. The big lawn has both sunny areas and places where one can hide in the shades cast by a couple of old trees. Smell of roses will be with you practically in every corner of the yard and even inside the house. The location of this maison is really perfect: lots of sights are within 1-hour/1,5 hour drive. Of course, a car is essential if you care for countless places of interest Normandy has to offer. During our stay (June 3-24) we had just one tiny problem with electricity. And (thanks to Louise, who takes care of such potential nuisances) it was dealt with in a very rapid and efficient way. Standing applause.

ideal country base to explore Normandy

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quaint yet spacious house with little homely extras. It was so near the forest of Cerisy, which has great off road trails for even the young family cycling. A bakery in the next village with lovely bread and cakes. It was in a great location near to Bayeux , enabling exploration to Honfleur, the D D beaches and memorials, Caen, Pegasus bridge, St Mere Eglise.

The house was well equipped , we could not fault it .

Pretty cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We took our 3 dogs abroad for the first time. The cottage was just right. Nice size garden and walks nearby plus the forest walks a 10 min car ride away. The location was perfect. Nice and quiet but great for Bayeux and the empty sandy beaches! We didn't miss the TV which had bad reception. We took cards, Dominoes and DVD's and books and there's plenty more DVD's at the cottage. We lit the fire, glass of wine in hand and just relaxed. Dogs loved the fire. Friendly neighbours up the road to practice the French too.

This is our second stay at this wonderful cottage, and would definitely return again.

  • 5 of 5

Staying at this cottage is like walking into a fairy tale; all that was missing was for the seven dwarves to appear! This is our second two week stay at this property, and we would definitely do it again. The setting is beautiful yet very accessible to everything we needed. It is a super location that makes it easy to do day trips throughout Normandy. It was so relaxing to return at the end of the day, make a simple dinner and sip a glass of wine, toasting to a great day. There are two bakeries within a few minutes drive which kept us supplied with fresh baguettes and croissants! The cottage is very comfortable with a modern kitchen. The process of booking was very easy. Corresponding with Tessa through the site's message system was so easy and helpful. We were met at the cottage by Louise who explained all the important FAQs. Louise is a gem! In addition the welcome packet we received prior to our stay was filled with very good information.

Le Moulin du Temple is a charming stone cottage in a very peaceful rural setting situated outside the village of Planquery, 2km from the town of Balleroy and 17km from historic Bayeux. The surrounding district is perfect for walking, running and bike riding (2 bikes + 1 child's bike provided) to explore the countryside and the Forest of Cerisy, just 3km away.

Take a 2-minute drive, or 10-minute walk to Planquery Pools which has been recently renovated and boasts fishing pools, tennis courts, a bar/grill and a limited play area.

5 minutes' drive into Balleroy you will find the famous Chateau with its hot air balloon museum, shop and tearoom, as well as bakeries, bars, post office and shops in the town itself.

The city of Bayeux with its cathedral, tapestry, restaurants, market, boutiques and hypermarkets is well worth a visit. The Saturday market is a stunning place to pick up fresh produce.

The Normandy beaches famed for the D-Day landings, but now a great place on a summer's day, are only 25km away, with lots of war museums nearby for rainy days.

The historic city of Caen is just 30 mins away by car and the breathtaking Mont St Michel is only 1 hour away for a day trip.

Honfleur, a harbour nearby is a must. It was popular with Impressionist painters like Monet and Boudin. They found its changing light and picturesque quays inspiring. On Saturday, visit the town's lively market and stock up on local cheese.
