Large 2 bed apartment in the heart of historic old town, 5 mins walk to ferry

This property underwent a high quality restoration three years ago and every attempt was made to retain its traditional Portuguese style. The house is on 2 levels - from the entrance you go up the stairs to the first level where you will find a sitting room with two balconies overlooking the narrow Moorish streets, 2 bedrooms with air con, a bathroom with a bath and wet room style shower and a kitchen. From the kitchen there are stairs to the upper level where there is an indoor seating area with a summer kitchen comprising of a domino hob, sink and large fridge freezer and an upper bathroom with another wet room style shower. From here, double doors lead onto a large terrace with a hot tub, dining table and chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ.

Wonderful stay in Olhao

What a terrific time we have just had in Casa Safira. This is the first time we have rented an apartment in the Algarve and it certainly won't be the last.

Olhao is a great setting for a holiday. The seaside town is a little gem, picturesque, with a wonderful fish tradition, great selection of restaurants and easy access to a range of beautiful beaches on nearby islands.

Casa Safira complements all this by being the perfect accommodation to guarantee a superb holiday. Situated in the heart of the old-town centre, this beautifully refurbished two bedroom apartment is spacious with high ceilings and thick walls which kept it lovely and cool during the hot days. The air-con in the bedrooms was also a boon, enabling us to sleep really well at night.

The kitchen was lovely and well equipped and the lounge was ideal. The mix of new and old furniture works perfectly and the bathroom is spectacular. To have fridge freezers on both floors is such a luxury!

The piece de resistance was the huge roof terrace with sun loungers, barbie and fabulous hot tub which enabled us to cool off during the day and enjoy the stars in comfort under the night sky.

Excellent and most enjoyable and restful week. Thank you Isabel and as Arnold might say "We'll be back!"

Fabulous apartment in bustling centre of town

Fabulous apartment in the centre of Olhao. Very comfortable and a lovely roof terrace. For us the location was perfect - right in the centre of the town close to the port, the markets, the restaurants and next door to the most fantastic bakery. We loved waking up early to the various noises of the town but realise some people may prefer somewhere quieter. Highly recommended.

Fantastic; Did not want to leave!

What a gem. We stayed here for 5 nights and loved every minute. The apartment is centrally located in the historic part of the town, one street back from the seafront and 2 doors from the most wonderful bakery. We loved the location and the hustle and bustle of Olhao. The apartment has been modernised but keeps its historic characteristics; the bed was of great quality and the comfiest I have slept in for some time. The roof terrace is private and made our break the most relaxing break we have had for years. 2 mins walk to the ferry for the wonderful armona island; we were going to stay on Armona but this option gives the best of both worlds. Casa Safira is situated a few seconds walk form the markets and the sea front. The beautiful beaches on the islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol are just a short ferry ride away (or you can go by water taxi). These islands are just paradise on earth - they have no cars and have miles of golden sands and a collection of restaurants and bars you can relax in. There are many restaurants and bars around Casa Safira where you can enjoy a beautiful lunch or a sunset dinner!
