Safe Haven
My husband and I had to travel to Roanoke for business, and decided to have a little getaway for our anniversary. We stayed in this cozy cabin January 19-21 2024. The cabin is very well cared for with adorable decor and beautiful artwork. It's very clean and the bed is comfortable. But what was impressive were all the thoughtful amenities provided for guests who've traveled a ways and maybe didn't want to go back out for a meal or to a store. We especially loved the blackberry jam and granola. It's obvious that this cabin is not just a moneymaker, but rather a labor of love. The owners truly care about each person who stays there, and it shows. The property has beautiful trails to walk. Had it not been so windy, we would have liked to explore more. We are hoping to return in warmer weather so we can do that! If you are looking for a quiet little slice of Heaven to get away to...THIS IS IT!

Our Go To Place To Relax
I think this was about our 5th stay at Shady Grove. We like the privacy of the very large property and the hiking trails. From this location we can go to the Blue Ridge Parkway for hiking or Smith Mountain Lake, Bedford, and it isn't far from Roanoke where we visit friends. We just learned that Roanoke has a hockey team so our next visit may include a hockey game. Melissa and Phyllis are excellent hosts and no other VRBO that we have stayed at ever had the little extras that they do. We hope to come back again soon.

What a gem
My husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary at this beautiful property. It was everything we were hoping for and more. With permission from the owners, we were also allowed to bring our sweet dog. In addition to being very clean and exactly as pictured in the listing, the owners added cute anniversary touches and treats for our pup which made us feel even more welcomed. The property is beautiful as well and we explored the vineyard and surrounding trails. We hope to return soon!

This is a wonderful get away. We stayed for our anniversary and loved the property. We really appreciated all the extra little touches and that we could bring our dog. We will definitely be back!

The vineyard was planted in 1999, and we sell grapes to Virginia wineries. Once I retired from teaching, we decided to expand our business to include a cabin on the property.
