Very nice getaway for multi-family

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with my parents and two small children. The parents loved the finished basement as a getaway. Master on main was great too. We loved going to York for the day to the beach. We really liked stage fort park. The kids wanted to go there every day. Manchester by the sea was also great. They have great restaurants and a nice playground for the kids.

Peaceful Coastal Cottage; a true sanctuary.

  • 5 of 5

It's almost surreal, seeing pictures and reviews of the place that truly became our home in little over a week. This cottage simply has a way of welcoming you in, making you feel like you belong, and wrapping all its inhabitants in its warm, quiet charm and east coast quality.

Incredibly homey; the second you walk in, it's almost like you've been there before, and staying there couldn't feel more natural.

It has so many skylights, so every room is filled with gorgeous, warm sunlight, and a natural light even when it's rainy. The backyard is an Eden, and every room it's own oasis.

We have a large family of 9, and there was plenty of room for all of us; spacious enough to not feel like we were tripping over anything or anyone. Plenty of beautiful, atheistic areas to sit and converse, drink some wine and unwind.

And the surrounding area's! My word, so breathtaking. Good harbor beach, Wingersheak, Marblehead, Essex, Rockport, Manchester by the Sea, Boston. You could explore for weeks in this area, and still discover place after place that is new, unique and equally stunning in its own right. And we did! When we left, we all felt like we were leaving a piece of our hearts in the East Coast. Cannot wait to come back! Simply cannot recommend this home, this area, and this obliging and easy to work with couple enough!!

Gorgeous place. Very peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Plenty of room for our family of 8. The house was comfortable and the back yard was spacious and beautiful. We loved coming back after a busy day and just relaxing. The property is in a great location, close to beaches, parks, restaurants and stores. We loved sightseeing around Gloucester and Boston. The house has a great deck where you can cook out and a beautiful patio out back. Great family room down stairs with foosball, a keyboard and a treadmill. We didn't get a chance to use the hot tub but maybe next time we will. The owners were very friendly and gracious. We felt very much at home there and hope to be back the next time we come to NE.

Beautiful property, so much to enjoy - great family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this lovely home which was located near all the Essex restaurants and in a very quiet neighborhood. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with flower gardens and shrubs attracting many birds. We enjoyed sitting on the lower patio on the cushioned sofas and watching the birds. The upper deck had tables and chairs overlooking the grounds which are wooded in the back (very private) leading down to a salt marsh - even saw a white heron walking around! Inside, we had a large fully equipped kitchen with a center island good for hanging out in the kitchen. There were two living rooms, on the main floor and on the lower level, both with flat screen TVs and comfortable furniture (even throws to cozy up with and lots of pillows) so we could separate into different groups as needed (we have a big family). The beds were comfortable in very nicely decorated bedrooms and the full dining room also gave us extra places to play a game or eat a meal. On top of all of this was the wonderful hot tub, the treadmill, the Fooseball game and the electronic keyboard in the lower level, which was a great hit with the kids. Everything was clean and nice, and our hosts Maureen and Neil were very helpful and encouraged us to call if we had any questions or problems. They supplied linens and towels and even beach towels and chairs and boogie boards and coolers. The location in west Gloucester was convenient to all of the activities we wanted. Don't miss Plum Island beach and NewberryPort and we liked Dane St. beach and O'Bear park. There are so many beautiful parks in the area many on the water, and with playgrounds and one even had a splash pad. We recommend the Farm Restaurant in Essex if you have kids that love to run around outside in the big back yard with games and toys in the outdoor eating area. Also, the Plum Island food service at the beach was amazingly good with excellent lobster rolls!

Spacious, charming, clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a lovely week in Gloucester. We really enjoyed our stay in this house. Everything was very clean, nicely decorated, and well-kept. The owners were great to work with. The kitchen had a nice island we used for eating breakfast & has a small flat screen TV. A deck with 2 tables, chairs and a market umbrella opened off the kitchen and overlooked the beautifully landscaped back yard with flowering plants and an arched arbor. Off the kitchen, there is a large dining room, much bigger than it looked in the photo. The upstairs living room has comfortable leather couches, and a TV. There were games available, and my kids enjoyed monopoly and Boggle. There were some breakable decorations around, and since we had young children, we moved them to a high spot in the closet for the week! Two bedrooms downstairs, a Queen room with a small deck overlooking the yard, and a bedroom with two twins. One bathroom downstairs, and one up. Plenty of towels & a nice basket with extra little toiletries in case you forgot any. The spacious master upstairs has a beautiful, long window seat. All of the windows had nice shades that easily pulled down. The second bedroom upstairs had two twins, and there were bed rails available if needed for small children. All the beds were very comfortable. The downstairs living room has a larger TV, a foosball table, a keyboard, a treadmill, laundry room, with two front loaders, a couple beach chairs, boogie boards, small cooler, and beach toys. The hot tub was a treat after a long day, and there were two adirondack chairs for people watching. We also really enjoyed sitting on the covered patio with gorgeous furniture and a rug, which opens to the yard. There is room for 2 cars to park in the driveway, and one or two across the street.. We enjoyed going to the Farm restaurant in Essex and we actually went back a second time. They had specials every day, one day kids eat free! They have patio seating outside, with a yard for the kids to play in, volleyball, cornhole, etc. We also loved Wingersheek beach. Got there early, paid $25 to park per car, but it was worth it. Packed a lunch, stayed all day, and got delicious Lobster rolls from the snack shack for dinner. After the beach, there is a hose in the back yard to clean off the kids before they come inside. The owners put together a binder of ideas for the area. We had a great week in this beautiful home.
