About the property

1 Bedrooms | 1 Bathrooms | Sleeps 4

We are empty-nesters and purchased this home as our retirement home. It is located on the banks of the Trout River in Montgomery Center and has been lovingly renovated from top to bottom.

In the summertime, when the water is at its lowest, you can relax and frolic in the refreshing cool waters of the Trout River; just around the river bend is a deeper swimming hole for you, the kids, or the dog! In the evening, enjoy making s'mores around the fire pit as you relax and listen to the babbling river.

There is a comfy queen size bed in the bedroom and a full size pull out futon in the living room. All towels and bedding are furnished along with the basic kitchen necessities.

And we haven't forgotten Fido: We have provided a bed, bowls, and a toy for your favorite furry travelling companion as well!

Our little house on the river is just a short walk (maybe 5 minutes) to all the town amenities such as: grocery store with huge liquor and wine selection, nightclub, restaurants, post office, bike shop (they also rent out snowmobiles in the winter), ATM, churches. We are also located right on the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) trail.

Clean, Pet Friendly, Charming spot!

  • 5 of 5

Jo Anne and Ken were warm & gracious hosts! They were able to be flexible with us and our reservation as a snowstorm came when we originally booked our stay. We pushed our stay out a few days and were so grateful for their flexibility. We were also able to bring our dog "Moosie" who loved the 63" of snow! The house is incredibly clean, comfortable and has all the amenities for a couple and pet. The grocery store is within walking distance as are a few restaurants and bars. We spent the day skiing at Jays Peak and loved how close and easy it was. We will be back again next year! Thank you again!

The best place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough good things about Jo Anne, Ken and Rudy. They are just a few doors down if you need them, but they never intrude. They go about their business of keeping the place in perfect working order, clean, the parking/walkways always clear of snow and the snow didn't stop the whole time we were there.

The location is perfect, short drive to the ski mountain, miles of trails to explore just out the front door, great food just steps away at Bernie's, a few more steps bring you to the local grocer and a few more steps to the local pub.

I also recommend a visit to Mountain Fiber Folk, the lady (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) tending the shop when I visited is very interesting and informative. The felt wall hangings they made are a great addition to my home.

Choosing to stay with Jo Anne, Ken and Rudy will insure you have a wonderful vacation.

Great place! Nice Owners!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at Ken & Jo Anne's property! It was a short drive to Jay Peak, as well as a short walk to Bernie's restaurant, which was great, and the local bar, Snow Shoe Lodge & Pub.

Would definitely come back!

Wonderful location to stay in the Jay Peak area!!

  • 5 of 5

This was such a cool place to stay for our trip to JP can. I've been going to Jay Peak in the winter and summer for the last few years. The resort itself is very expensive In terms of lodging options. If you have a dog there's almost nowhere to stay in the area. Ken and Jo Anne our dog owners and graciously accept pets. They live a few houses down and are extremely accommodating and have your typical Vermont good nature. Montgomery Center is a great little town only 8 miles from the resort. It has a full grocery store, ski and bike shop, and several restaurants from take out to a nice B&B/restaurant. In the immediate area there is no cell service which I loved immensely! I did have service in the center of town and closer up towards the resort. There is free Wi-Fi at the house. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the two units they own. Besides the resort there is plenty of hiking, cross country skiing, backcountry skiing in some cool tree glades if you're willing to go look for them. You can also enjoy dog sledding and snowmobiling nearby. I traveled with my wife and two small children under five. We all had a great time. These were bargain accommodations for what you get! We will definitely use them again!

House was well kept and maintained, owners were nice and greeted us when we arrived and departed. There is no cell phone service in the town, which came as quite a shock to us. You can purchase wifi in the unit, but it's an extra expense. Kitchen needs to be stocked better with more cookware and knives. Overall it was good and would be a very nice retreat in the summer with the river right there.

Owner's Response: Yes, there is no cell service here: we are surrounded by mountains in northern Vermont. As for wifi: currently there is no wifi in the unit, however we do not advertise that there is! We explain to each guest that we live next door where there is service and we provide the network and password. We do NOT charge a fee for that. As for the kitchen items, we will assess what we have; we thank you for your input: it all helps. *We have added additional cutlery including paring knives and butcher knives. We have also added more bakeware and casserole dishes. **There is now FREE wifi in this unit. Upon arrival, we will give you the Network and Password.
