About the property

Aloha and welcome to the Eco House at Pepeekeo. The home is a brand new 2 bedroom, 2 bath home that offers ocean views, serene surrounding and privacy that you won’t find in the more touristy resorts on the Big Island. Once you set foot on this beautiful 8 acre property, you will see why we choose this location for our home. From the lanai you can see the ocean and watch the occasional cruise ships and barges heading in and out of the harbor in Hilo. A meandering stream runs along the property that leads to an impressive waterfall. Fruit trees have been planted by the hundreds on the land. And lush, colorful gardens are found surrounding the house.

Get up early in the morning and see the sun rise from the ocean and watch the red clouds in the sky. Get outside at night to watch the moon rise from the ocean or stay up to enjoy the beautiful stars and milky way in the middle of night.

The well appointed home features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and an open living room / dining room area. One bedroom offers a queen bed and the other has two twins. There is also a futon bed/couch in the living area that folds down for sleeping. The kitchen has a large island and new, stainless steel appliances and quartz counter tops. The living room has a large screen smart Tv that you can watch DVDs and cable Tv on. One bedroom also offers a large smart TV.

The home is eco-friendly and completely off-grid. Electrical power comes from solar panels with a back-up propane generator. Hot water for bathing also is generated from solar panels. Water comes from a filtered tank system that catches rain water that falls on the roof.

Our home is located at the end of the historic Hamakura scenic route. Nearby you'll find the Hawaii Botanic Garden, a real wonder of nature. Also close by is Akaka Falls, where you can visit its 442' tall waterfall. Waipio Valley to the north and Volcano National Park to the south are also must sees as well.

Our goal is to offer your family a clean, comfortable place to stay at a reasonable price during your adventure on our amazing Big Island of Hawaii.

Our experience there was amazing!! The cottage itself is beautiful and open with tall ceilings and gorgeous views. Randall was very personable, easy to contact, sent clear directions and greeted us upon arrival. The house is immaculate and had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully equipped and we really enjoyed making our breakfasts there and eating on the lanai enjoying the view. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in! Hot water was excellent and the ceiling fans kept the house at a pleasant temperature. The location was perfect for visiting Akaka Falls and we even did a day trip to Waipio Valley with enough time to have dinner in Hilo. We loved our stay, it was a true treat to have stayed there! Looking forward to coming back soon! ”

Great place to stay!

The house is beautiful, very clean and private. It's about 8 miles out of Hilo in a more rural atmosphere. We stayed here in February, 2018 and would definitely stay again.

Fantastic Place

This place was perfect: spacious, newly built, great interior design and furnishings and equipped with the best quality everything all set on acres of green pasture. And yet the location was convenient to everything we wanted to do on the East side of the island. This was our first experience staying at a place "off the grid" (living green) and it was no different than being connected to all the utilities of a city. Five Stars!!

Great rental

The rental home was nicely decorated and well stocked. The bathrooms had plenty of bathing essentials, and the kitchen had enough basics that you could cook.

The property manager was very attentive and prompt to reply.

We did have an issue with solar panels and generator, but they did everything they could to remedy the situation for us.

Peaceful, far from the maddening crowds. Brings about daydreams.

We absolutely loved this place. We spent 4 nights here. It is out in the country, but, you can get into downtown Hilo within 10 mins or less. We were looking for something serene, peaceful, not inside Hilo downtown. We also wanted to visit all of the Hilo side Big Island places. This place was centrally located. We also did not want to waste time moving about to be close to the attractions. It was an easy drive to Volcano NP, where we stayed late to view the lava glow. The drive back was smooth.

All kinds of birds greeted us in the morning, and we had the most glorious sunrises.

It was well stocked- we found most everything we needed. Randall was very attentive. We highly recommend this place.
