About the property

2 Bedrooms | 1 Bathrooms | Sleeps 3

Beautiful historic home shaded with ancient oaks and just steps to the beach. A short pleasant drive down Hwy 90 of just 2 miles will bring you to the casinos and the chartered deep sea fishing boats. We have gorgeous sunsets and sunrises with extraordinary hospitality. Only 2 miles to Beauvoir, the last home of the only president of the confederacy Jefferson Davis. Our fabulous seafood museum with movies and enough history to keep you there all day. Also only 2 miles to The Visitors Center just across from our historic lighthouse. This is family home built from a torn down hotel in the late 1940's and includes the cow dairy from the 1920's in the back yard. The barn is now used for painting and wood working projects and I would love to share my passion for turning salvaged items into unique useful décor. Great history in this neighborhood. The interior is furnished with collectables and antiques and unique painted furniture and fabulous art. Sit on the patio and enjoy the singing birds and watch the squirrels scamper in the massive oak trees. Enjoy the unusual spacious 1,600 sq. feet to relax and reflect. Take a glimpse into our simple lifestyle tucked away here on the gulf coast. A place so special you will always remember.

Loved the stay! Higly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

We are Florida residents and were looking for a place to stay right before the Hurricane Irma struck Florida. It was the last minute and most hotels were sold out in Biloxi. With little hope, we contacted Susie and very gratefully, she accepted our request within 30 minutes! We drove all the way to there the very next day and stayed for 3 nights. We arrived there almost 11 pm due to traffic but Susie kindly greeted us and understood the situation.

The property is much better than it looks at the photos. It has the owner's special touch everywhere and we felt like we were visiting our auntie's home or something. Very clean and has everything you need. The beds are comfy and the overall interier is so cute! Plus, it takes only ~5 min work to the white sand beach.

Luckily enough, there was an annual seafood festival while we were there and it was fantastic! Even when there is no festival, there are several great seafood restaurants nearby. We had lunch at Half Shell Oyster House and Wentzel's House (Yelp helped!) and food in both restaurants was fantastic! Overall, we had a great time in Biloxi and it wouldn't have been possible without the satisfactory stay at this property. Thanks for everything, Susie!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the fabulous review Sandra! It was my pleasure meeting you and your family. I was so happy to help you out of a dangerous situation, believe me I have had my share of hurricanes. I can't thank you enough for being so respectful and leaving the place so clean and neat. It didn't even look like someone stayed there. I hope y'all can come back one day and I pray that you had no damage to your property. Wishing you blue skies always. Susie

More than expected!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived later than originally expected and the owner was waiting with a warm southern welcome. This is a relaxing property that made us feel right at home. A glimpse of the old days throughout and a short walk to the beach. We strolled the neighborhood with our pups and were greeted by others doing the same. Definitely would stay again!

A Step Back in Time

  • 5 of 5

For a much needed relaxing, long weekend, this was the perfect venue. Although it is an older home, it was immaculate. We enjoyed the wonderful seafood at the nearby restaurants and a leisurely drive down Beach Boulevard from one town to another.

Owner's Response: Thank you Jennifer! Y'all were great guest. It didn't even look like anyone stayed there. It make me so happy to have people enjoy my house. So sorry you had to leave early on account of Hurricane Nate. It wasn't a bad storm, just enough to make a mess. Hope you and your family can come again soon. Take care. Susie

About owner/property manager

My father built this house with his own two hands out of salvaged materials from an old torn down hotel. The house has been in my family for almost 68 years. It is a two story home and we rent out the downstairs and my husband and I live upstairs. It is completely separate. My father taught me from the age of 4 how to paint and take care of the house. Most of the work over the years has been done by my father, myself and my husband George. I am fortunate and blessed to have had such wonderful parents and live in an incredibly beautiful part of Mississippi, it just seems that the sun shines a little brighter and the air is sweeter here. Maybe its the salty gulf breeze, or maybe its the place I call home and really love.

owner/property manager purchased this house in 1949

Why owner/property manager chose Biloxi

My father built this home in the late 1940's from salvaged materials mostly. It is a block off the beach and has survived two major hurricanes with little damage. Hurricane Camille in 1969 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The city of Biloxi awarded me Historic status.

What makes this house unique

The house itself is extremely unique with a cow dairy in the back yard from the 1920's.
