About the property

Moutains & Fjord Views- Your Cosy Getaway

This cabin sits right on the Otra river, the largest river in the beautiful region of Setesdal in southern Norway. The island, reachable by car, is quiet and secluded but not too lonely- with several cabins dotted throughout the area.

It is a great cabin for travelers who may be a bit new to the rustic cabin experience but want to taste it: as there is electricity installed, yet no running water. Luckily, fresh, bathe-able, drinkable water is right outside the door!

Velkommen!

About Lillian Greibesland

I have been working in Tromsø, Norway as a front desk receptionist since August 2015 and I love it! Ever since hearing about HomeAway, I have always wanted to host tourists of my own in my own place. Sharing my favorite place on earth with strangers and hearing how their stay was in a review or written in the cabin journal is something I find very fulfilling and I cannot wait to accommodate you!

Lillian Greibesland purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Lillian Greibesland chose Byglandsfjord

I have spent nearly every summer growing up in this small town in Norway and the very best of experiences have come from this particular place. My family's cabin sits near this one on the hill to the east and it is my paradise.

What makes this cabin unique

Notes:
This cabin is actually second oldest on the island (my family's cabin was the first). However, I feel it has transformed into a typical example of minimalist Scandinavian design. From the bright, white walls and ceiling to the light fixtures and open floor plan: the cabin has taken on a very relaxed and calm atmosphere that I hope all guests can appreciate. Guest Access: Guests have access to everything that I have access to. Keep in mind there is no hot shower available nor running water. The Neighborhood: Authentic Norwegian wilderness! Smell the calming pines and pick wild raspberries, lingon, cloud & blueberries that stain your tongue purple! Star-gaze and take a dip in the freshest water on the earth!

The perfect place

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing stay in the nature of Norway. Really nice cabin with everything you need! Good location to drive to the next town, but still far away to be completely in your own silence. We went hiking, fishing and relaxed a lot in front of the open fire. Just chilling on these couches and watching the clouds reflecting on the lake - I could live there. Communication with the host was really fast and convient via E-Mail. We are def. coming back! all the best, marc & mone

Rustic getaway in pristine nature!

  • 4 of 5

We had an amazing week at the cabin, enjoying the privacy, stillness and beauty of the nature all around us. Plus the hikes and villages in Setesdal were really enjoyable. We were especially happy that our dog Marty was welcome, he had a blast (for proof see him on instagram @realamsterdog).

Bathing in the fjord turned out to be less freezing than imagined beforehand, we actually came to enjoy this daily ritual. For two people the cabin is spacious, comfy and well-equipped. It was perfect for us city people in need of a rustic getaway and would recommend it to those wanting some peace and quiet and who don't mind going back-to-basics on some things. Thank You Lillian and grandmother Jorunn for the quick and friendly communications and for sharing your cabin!
