Overview

About the property

2Br 1Bath eat in kitchen, large sunny living room, beautiful mountain view

Charming Belmont house built in 1920, and then added onto sometime in the 1950s. Close to route 20 and destinations south of Charlottesville, and about 1 mile from the downtown mall. Quiet neighborhood, fenced in backyard and very pet friendly.

House has pets and welcomes pets, so there is going to be an ongoing struggle with pet hair. Getting better, but not so good if you have nice clothes.

You get the one car driveway, walk around back to your private entrance. Two bedrooms, front bedroom has full size Serta adjustable bed and rollaway cot. Other bedroom has a very firm full bed. Living room has two recliners and small TV. I have one camping cot, there is a picture of it. Space for a couple of air mattresses.

Eat in kitchen has a table and chairs, a built in microwave, electric range, dishwasher, and a large refrigerator. Very, very unique!

This is a two bedroom apartment with an eat in kitchen and a large sunny living room, and I am asking $45 a night for it. There are some places that are going for hundreds of dollars a night. There is a reason I am keeping it cheap, it is bare bones. It is old and dated, and patched and repaired. The house was built in 1920. It is clean and sunny and bright, and the house is obviously about 100-ish years old.

I would have to describe this place as slightly above undergrad level. The bathroom is pretty sorry and the carpet is dingy, but it gets plenty of sunshine and fresh air. But, it does look like Frankenstein in a lot of ways. The ceiling was crumbling so parts of it got scraped and painted, the tiles in the kitchen need to be pulled up soon and re-done, windows are hideous. this is a good place because you don't have to stress if you spill. And that is part of what makes this good for dogs but it is also perfect for people just looking for a lower price over higher quality.

There is cardboard tacked securely over a hole in the bedroom ceiling. Problem solved. It's that kind of place.

There are three window unit air conditioners for the warm weather, and there are several baseboard heaters for the cold weather.

This place is basically 4 walls and a roof, a bathroom that works and doors that lock. And from that point of view, it is actually kind of cool.

Weekly and Monthly discounts.

This next paragraph is about pets, skip if you are not bringing a pet. Pets welcome. Fenced in yard, small gap in one corner for the cats to come and go through, this can be blocked off if you have a little teeny dog. Also, the gate has a gap at the bottom that we can prop something over if you have a smaller dog or an escape artist. Please check out the perimeter before trusting my handiwork. But, you are welcome to let your dog run around in the yard supervised or unsupervised at your own risk, and I will clean up the poop and stuff. The dog can't bark and make noise for the neighbors, otherwise it is a beautiful sunny green yard for your buddy to hang out in for a while a few times a day or all day or whatever. Also, there are three cats that live here so your dog cannot eat my cats. That is kind of important. If your dog is aggressive towards cats, I can lock them inside and make sure that they don't get into the backyard with your dog, but if your dog is aggressive, then its outside trips need to be supervised.

Interaction with Guests

This is an upstairs apartment in my duplex, I live on the main floor. You will have a private entranceway and a full apartment to yourself.

Your entrance is in the back yard, you have to walk up the driveway and beside the house, come into the covered porch and there is a door that leads upstairs.

The backyard is also my backyard, there will be a dog in there intermittently but he only likes to sniff people.

The Neighborhood

Mas Tapas is only a 7 minute walk from here, as is the rest of the Downtown Belmont area. - La Taza, Tavola, The Local, a great area!

A few minutes farther is Lampo and The Bridge, as well as Fox's Cafe and Spudnuts. Just over the 9th street bridge from there is the Downtown Mall, one of the highlights of Charlottesville.

You can see Michie Tavern from here. Less than a mile from Monticello as the crow flies.

Getting Around

The city bus stop is only a few houses away, and the main bus transit station is less than a mile from here. The city has free trolleys periodically, but I am not sure how often they run; a quick glance to the city's website should give more information than I can give.

Uber is available here, Taxis are slow. Train station and greyhound station within a couple of miles.

Other Things to Note

This part of town is near the sewage treatment plant. Charlottesville is making efforts to battle the smell, but you may get slight whiffs of sewage. That is not me or my house, sorry.
