About Stuart Carmichael

I grew up in Glasgow & Edinburgh and my daughter went to Edinburgh University - for 7 years taking 2 degrees - and she now lives in Edinburgh with her partner - so we use the apartment as a 'home from home' to go and visit as we now live over 5 hours away in Sheffield in England.

Stuart Carmichael purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Stuart Carmichael chose Leith

The whole area is vibrant and developing despite the recession and the local people are all so friendly - we couldn't resist Leith !

It has bars and bistros and cosy pubs and 'posh' restaurants but also takeaways and local shops and national supermarkets.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is relatively new - less than 18 years old - and is in a quiet location with grass, trees and free parking to the front and rear.

It just seems ideal for local living or popping upto town.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited this gorgeous flat for my 40th birthday and were delighted with the gift of flowers and chocolates - a real surprise !

Superb location - really warm and cosy - just like it says in the advert.

Everything exceeded our expectations and we have recommended flat to our friends.

See you again soon ! Gerry from Maidenhead

Good, but would be better for a longer stay

  • 4 of 5

We were only staying one night, before heading out to our 8 day road trip across Scotland. The flat was cozy. The beds are of medium comfort. It would have been better if we were staying longer than one night to be able to enjoy the kitchen and living room amenities. For one night, we should have done a bed and breakfast, as this is what we did the other nights of our stay. The location is terrific as it was a 20-30 minute walk down to Edinburgh center and only 10 minutes around the corner to a lovely seaside, restaurant area. Our one hiccup was that there were not instructions in the flat for how to return the two sets of keys. We picked up from Bowler's Rest, but they were closed when we left and we tried to call Stuart, but there was no answer. We needed to get on the road and were very concerned. Overall, we recommend this flat.

Owner's Response: Hello again and thank you for your kind comments which are always a great help to find out what we are doing right & wrong ! When collecting keys at the pub for the flat they should have said to either drop them back in at the pub - or if closed -then just to leave them on the coffee table and get on with enjoying your holiday ! I hope you didn't stress too much over my keys and hope you might visit again !

Feeling at "home" in Leith

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish, our booking, and stay in Leith, was very easy. The apartment was a good size, for our family of 3, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is very much a home, all you need is there, just check the living room shelves (DVDs, etc), in the kitchen cupboards (coffee, tea, utensils, etc), even brollies in the walk in cupboard, greatly appreciated as we had 3 days of rain! Parking for free is also a huge benefit. Delighted to have found this apartment, and would have no hesitation in staying again, and will happily recommend to friends. Thank you for your attention to detail, and support.

Property address is 19 / Flat 3 (19/3) Pattison Street Leith Edinburgh EH6 7HF. (First Floor).

Just behind the park called Leith Links (where the game of golf (or kolf) was supposedly invented.

This bright, safe, comfortable, first floor flat is on a quiet cobbled back street (known as setts in Scotland) with easy private resident parking outside.

450m to Edinburgh cosmopolitan waterfront known as 'The Shore' with loads of trendy bars, cafes, bistros, pubs & restaurants.

Across the park (400m) is a large supermarket & there is a local shop within 200 metres for bread, milk, chocolate & anything else you may need.

Approx. 1 mile away is the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre & the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed there.

5 minutes on a bus or a 20 minute walk up Leith Walk (depending how long you linger to look in all the shop windows on the way - or visit any of the 30 or so bars you will pass by) is Princes Street & the Castle & all of the City of Edinburgh attractions.

Other Activities: Rugby at Murrayfield Stadium and Football at Hibernian or Hearts the two Edinburgh Clubs

Golf: Craigentinny a public course is nearby only a couple of miles away. Good course - fairly flat but with some challenging holes and hills.

Ski: Man made ski slope at Penicuick can be seen from nearby and attracts many folk from near and far.
