About this property

Apartment Ilica - vintage charm with modern amenities in the heart of the city

Across the Flower Square, in Zagreb’s high street Ilica 12 near Hotel Jagerhorn, there is a newly renovated 65 square meters apartment. It is located on the third floor of a residential building with an elevator, balcony and a quiet view of the forest. This functionally furnished apartment has two bedrooms (double beds 180×200 cm and 140×200 cm), a kitchen and a spacious living room with an additional bed/chaise longue for two persons. Every room has a satellite TV and a micro line. Air condition, minibar, Wi-fi and a media centre to check your emails, naturally, go without saying. The apartment is characterised by vintage charm with present-day functionality. This property is managed by the owner unlike similar listings in the city center which are managed by rental companies. Each guest is treated individually to ensure the quality of service.

City Break
We had a fabulous break exploring the city. The apartment is within walking distance of all the main attractions . Alan has catered for all needs, with lovely welcoming touches. The apartment is tastefully decorated, and every need is well catered for. Alan was able to assist us with a taxi transfer when our own booking let us down. We would love to return one day.

Home away from home
Mum and I came to Zagreb to explore the Christmas markets, the best in Europe for the third year in a row, and we wanted somewhere convenient and comfortable to stay. The flower apartments went above and beyond our expectations. From the time of booking to the time of departure, Alan, the host, was exceptionally helpful. He arranged a private pick-up from and to the airport (very reasonably priced) and was waiting for us at the apartment on arrival (he lives next door, which was a comfort to know should there have been any issues; there weren't!) He gave us a tour of the gorgeous apartment, explaining everything from the centralised lighting system to how the coffee machine works. I had seen in previous reviews that the apartment was missing a coffee machine, cooking utensils and fitted sheets, but Alan has clearly taken on board past feedback and they are all in place now. It is no exaggeration to say that Alan has truly thought of everything when it comes to the comfort and satisfaction of his guests. Not only were we greeted by a personalised welcome message on the lightbox on the wall, but there were also complimentary chocolates, slippers, a water cooler, fully stocked teas and coffees, milk and juice for our first morning as well as a selection of crackers and biscuits, a very reasonably priced mini bar (2 euros per item), chargers for every type of device, all the guides to Zagreb and even some Christmas decorations to truly make it feel like a home away from home. The convenience of this apartment extends to its location; bang smack in the centre of everything! We walked everywhere (except once taking the funicular up the hill to the 'uptown') and never had to walk far to find something Christmassy going on. It's easy to see why Zagreb has won the best Christmas Market award 3 years in a row. The celebrations extend throughout the city, and I can't even begin to imagine how many fairy lights are used at this time of year. The only minor (and it was minor!) downside to the apartment being so central, was that the musical offerings which went on until around 1am on Saturday and Sunday mornings were definitely audible in the bedrooms. This didn't disturb us at all, but if you're sensitive to noise and are going around the same time, earplugs could be helpful. Overall this was a fantastic stay and we will definitely be recommending Alan's apartment to everyone!

Charming Apartment in a Perfect Location
Alan's apartment is beautifully presented and the location is absolutely perfect. The small balcony which is situated at the back of the apartment and underneath the Old Town is a wonderful place to sit in the early evening to listen to the peaceful bird song. Later in the evening the music from the Old Town sounds wonderful from the balcony. It's not too loud - just a gentle holiday feel! There is everything that you could want in the apartment and more and it's not hard to see why Alan is a 'superhost' as he is there if you need him but not intrusive in anyway. Apartment Ilica is the perfect place to stay in Zagreb without a doubt!

Perfect location, Wonderful Host’ - and a great time to be in central Zagreb
We chose the Apartment Ilica as a haven between two cruises [one in the Baltic and one in the Adriatic] and it was perfect for the purpose. Our host, Alan, arranged for us to be met at the airport and brought to the apartment which is only steps away from the central square of the city. Everything was in easy walking distance of the apartment. The street frontage is a gracious old Hapsburg building; the apartment is actually in a rather grim looking Tito era building set back behind a courtyard. It has an eccentric looking lift and doesn’t promise much at first sight but once up the stairs, Ilica is charming. The decoration of the apartment showed great taste and atttention to detail. Everything worked - from the wifi, the washing machine to the stereo system, the air conditioning and the hot water system. We had six very happy days exploring the city. Our only caveat might be the apartment’s greatest strength - its central location. You’re right in the city and that can pose problems. There was a nearby bar that was noisy until about 10 pm but after it closed, the place was very quiet. We happened to be in Zagreb for the quarter and semi finals of the 2018 World Cup and with Croatia winning both games, the city was just buzzing to all hours . Yes it was a bit noisy but what a chance to share in history! All in all, we loved the apartment and recommend it highly.

Fabulous everything
3 of us, all seniors, stayed at Alan’s for 4 days His apartment is everything and more than the pictures show. Alan and his colleague Stefan are gracious, kind and so helpful. The apartment is beautiful, the beds are so comfy and there is nothing you would ever need it is so well equipped Spotless from top to bottom…. I would stay here every time I was in Zagreb. And if you are lucky enough to get this apartment I know you will be more than satisfied One of the best accommodations we have had in all our many years of travel

Welcome,
I'm Alan Bahoric from Zagreb, Croatia, owner of the Flower Square Apartment Ilica.
My friends and I run 2 cosy apartments in the very heart of the city, the pedestrian zone around Flower Square and the main street Ilica. I hope you will have pleasant stay in Zagreb, an excellent entry point to discover Croatia, a unique blend of old school Mitteleuropa, Mediterranean and the Balkans.

I designed my apartment with attention to details, modern accessories and flavour of vintage spirit. I’m a public relations professional and I run my own consultancy which is specialised in corporate communications, event management, and PR in tourism. I like to travel and sail, adore photography, lounge & jazz music, so I guess this apartment is pretty much reflection of myself.

What makes this property unique

Acting as a public relations manager I had the opportunity to work with biggest hotel companies in Croatia learning about important tips & tricks in the hospitality industry, new trends and how sharing economy has changed the way we travel and choose our destinations. The next big thing were my own experiences as a traveler and guest. Blending experiences and valuable knowledge, I have tried to design a living space in which my guests will feel comfortable and safe as they were staying in their own homes.
Welcome aboard :)
