Overview

About the property

2 double en-suite bedrooms. Large living area. Outside terrace and roof garden.

Los Dos Pajaros (The Two Birds) is at the top of the oldest and prettiest road in the village. This unique property has been built as an 'upside-down' house with the living area upstairs to take full advantage of the natural rocky terrain and magnificent views. From a spacious hall the stairs lead up to the living area. Arched entrances lead to a modern fitted kitchen and to a large lounge/dining area with a real “wow” factor. There is natural rock wall with a small cave - this is where you will find the two birds! There is a comfortable seating area and dining furniture for 6 persons. The space is enhanced, as is the whole house, with paintings, art posters and ethnic artefacts. Patio doors lead to a large half-covered terrace, where you will find everything you need for al fresco living, including a second dining area. An attractive roof garden is set against a backdrop of the hills around. For cooling off in summer there is a tub set into the rock with seating for four and a shower.

Heating: The house has a wood burning stove, and also has electric eco wall heaters in the lounge and bedrooms.

A satellite TV (free-to-air UK channels) and a DVD player are available, and a mini hi-fi system.

Bed linen and towels are included in the rental charge.

Every Saturday (after checkout time) the house will be cleaned. For stays longer than a week, there will be a change of bed linen and towels weekly.

Making your booking and checking in: The deposit to secure your booking is 25% of the total cost of your stay. The balance is due 4 weeks before your date of arrival.

Rates are for two persons and the use of the main bedroom only and include HomeAway's service fee. Guest numbers above 2 and the use of the second bedroom is an extra £60 per week per guest (approximately). The HomeAway website will automatically calculate the price for numbers of guests over 2.

If you require a smaller house, we have one, La Casita, just next door. For details please see: https://www.homeaway.co.uk/p884011.

Lovely village house in a beautiful white village.

  • 4 of 5

A lovely village house in the beautiful pueblo blanco of Montecorto. The house has two en suite bedrooms and is perfect for two couples. There is a well equipped kitchen. The sitting room has a log burner and opens out onto a big terrace with beautiful views over the valley and surrounding hills. The house does not have WiFi, but there is a good 4 G signal. There is parking opposite the house or 50 m away. The house is in a quiet street just 5 minutes walk to the centre of the village where there are bars, restaurants and shops. We would happily go back.

Owner's Response: We are very glad that our guests appreciated our house, Los Dos Pajaros, and also the beautiful white village of Montecorto. We have been visiting Montecorto for over 20 years and never tire of its peaceful and quiet atmosphere and its friendly villagers. Our guests would be very welcome to stay again at any time in the future and explore more of the surrounding area - there is much else to see! Keith & Maggie Redway.

Lovely House in the mountains. Well equiped and good situation close to many attractions

  • 4 of 5

The House is nice and neet with a good solution having the bed rooms downstairs, and the kitchen, lounge and terrasse upstairs. We guess this is particular important in the summer where the bed rooms will stay chilly.

Much heating was required due to exceptional cold weather this February week. It is well situated calm, still only 5 minutes to baker and grocery.

The village is friendly, but very quiet, at least in the Winther season. You need to drive out in order to eat out, but there are good restaurants e.g. In Ronda and Grazalema, within 30 minutes driving to various places in the beautiful mountains. Take lunches out and eat home in the evenings!

The closed terrasse is also very nice, and you can sit out even in 10 degrees when the sun is shining.

We would love to revisit the House.

Owner's Response: We are glad that our guests enjoyed their stay in Los Dos Pajaros and Montecorto. Yes, it can be a little cold at this time of year, especially at night, but luckily our guests contacted us in advance to ask if they should take warm clothing. We answered that they definitely should! The village is certainly quiet in the winter but is much livelier at other times when there are various fiestas and processions and all the locals appear in the village streets to celebrate. We are also glad that our guests would like to revisit - they would be very welcome.

Lovely house, stunning location, perfect.

  • 5 of 5

We know Montecorto well and have stayed in several houses in the village (we have friends there) but Los Dos Pajaros was probably the best house we've used. It is in a wonderful position, at the top of the village with a stunning view of the hills from the terrace. The house itself is very comfortable and one of the best-equipped holiday houses we've stayed in - everything you could want in the kitchen, UK satellite TV and DVD player, a good selection of DVD's and books and a wood-burning stove plus excellent wall radiators if you're visiting over the winter. A real home. We spent 3 weeks in January and would have stayed for longer if we'd had the time and will definitely come back.

life does not get much better than this!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at La Casita, Montecorto. Fantastic area for walking especially the Mr Henderson's railway and Cat's cave walks. The local villages are stunningly beautiful, none less than the incredibly friendly Montecorto itself.

Without a doubt though the true star of the holiday was La Casita itself. Leonard Cohen once wrote of "the wine you've always wanted to drink, at the table you've always wanted to drink it at, at the price you've always wanted to pay for it..." He describes the La Casita experience perfectly! The cottage is completely charming, beautifully and imaginatively decorated with much attention to detail. The views from the terrace are stunning and Bobby Dylan and Neil Young never sounded better than up there beneath the waxing moon and stars.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

I have returned from an an amazing holiday in Montecorto. This small

White Village in the moutains of Andalacia offered more than I

expepted, the people are very warm & frendly.

The house I stayed in was exactly as the listing, clean, creatively

desgned and well maintained.

The management of the house offered efficient service, nothing was too

much trouble.

The other villages I visited Zahara,Grazalema,Setenil and of course the

Ronda all of which were very different but all breathtaking.Having

visted these lovely places it was such a pleasure coming back to relax

in perfect surrounding and saver the day.

I would strongly recommed the house and Montecorto for a holiday, it is

the sort of place I fell in love with giving me lasting good memories.

Montecorto, situated on the edge of the beautiful Grazalema National Park, is one of the 'pueblos blancos' (white villages) which are amongst the prettiest in Spain. The views are spectacular, and in cooler months the area has some of the best walking in Europe.

Just a short drive away are the extraordinary Roman theatre and Pileta cave with some of Europe's best cave paintings. Historic Ronda, one of Spain's most spectacular towns, can be reached in 15 minutes and has palaces, art galleries and its famous gorge.

To stay in this friendly village is to witness the real Spain, a world away from the crowds and commercialism of the “Costa.” The village has everything for your needs with bars (some of which serve reasonably priced tapas), two small general stores, two bread shops and a fish shop. For eating out there is a restaurant at the edge of the village. There is also a bank and a garage. For summer visits there is lovely swimming pool, just 3 minutes walk from the property.
