One block to the east is beautiful Stanton Park; a block to the west are the Senate office buildings and the beginning of the U.S. Capitol grounds; and one block to the north is Massachusetts Avenue restaurant row, shopping and more dining at Union Station, and Metro. Come visit the Eastern Market, which Travel and Leisure Magazine called one of the top five neighborhoods to visit in the March 2016 edition! Not only are we within walking distance of the National Mall, the U.S. Capitol, the Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court, but the neighborhood offers some of the best restaurants and bars in D.C. like Rose's Luxury, Acqua al 2, and Harold Black. Check out the farmer's market on Saturdays and Sundays at Eastern Market and enjoy a picnic at one of the many beautiful parks the neighborhood has to offer. Patio area in front perfect for enjoying morning coffee or sitting and watching the neighborhood stroll by!

Location, Location Location

This little apartment could not be in a better location. Literally a short walk to the US Capitol and Supreme Court. I did not even bother with Uber (the only way to get around DC IMO) to go to the National Gallery and other Museums on the Mall. Eastern Market is also within walking distance but even closer there is a small grocery store two blocks away that served my needs nicely. The neighborhood is simply beautiful; filled with historic homes and a great place to walk. I felt completely safe walking including to and from restaurants at night. And, by the way, there are some outstanding restaurants near Eastern Market.

The key to this apartment is it super price. For a fraction of the cost of a hotel you get the full kitchen, washer and dryer and most importantly, privacy. You can spend a lot more money and get a bigger and flashier place if you like. In my opinion this place is the right size for a couple but the bunk beds in the bedroom would accommodate a couple of kids as well. There is a washer and dryer in the unit. You have control of the air conditioning and heating in the unit. The WIFI was fast enough for me to comfortably work and the TV had a bazillion channels. There is a coffee maker, stove, refrigerator, oven and microwave. I always had plenty of hot water during my stay. The bathroom is small but perfectly functional with a tub/shower combo and plenty of towels. I did not hear a lot of noise from upstairs though there was a family with two dogs staying there. Do not expect a lot of glitz. Just a nice place to stay.

Finally. The owner is super nice. She provided a refrigerator full of food and some seriously good cookies for when I arrived. This was a really nice touch. When I had need to speak to her she answered her text messages instantly. So this is not a designer apartment with stainless appliances, granite counter tops and a spa-like bath suite. It is a good place for normal people to stay when in Washington DC, run by a very nice lady. It is what VRBO is all about as far as I am concerned.

WALKING DISTANCE ! to Union Station, the corner market, wonderful neighborhood, well stocked apt

  • 4 of 5

Just as promised, this place is in the best location! and very reasonably priced! The basement apartment is simple, clean but not updated. If you are looking for luxury, this is not it. But the bed was good and it is a quiet NICE neighborhood. Yes, that fridge was stocked with cookies, yogurt, tea, milk, coffee, water, juice, sandwich meat, cheeses, fruit, eggs and snacks. We flew halfway across the country, rode a taxi 10 minutes to the apartment and found food on arrival. The owner even came by to visit and delivered a case of bottled water. The owners make every effort to make the visit comfortable. VRBO adds a service charge and then there is tax and a cleaning fee of $75. We would stay there again!

Perfect Location and a Fantastic Host

  • 5 of 5

We came to DC for a family vacation and wanted a central place to stay. We ended up finding this beauty.

Our host went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and more than prepared for our week long stay. The fridge was stocked and she even had sweets for our boys. The hospitality was very much appreciated because this was our first trip to the capital and she made the trip enjoyable from the start instead of chaotic.

The location is within walking distance to most of your DC attractions and only a short walk to union station if you need a bus or a train. The neighborhood felt safe enough to walk in after dark (which we did almost every night of our stay). We would recommend this house to anyone that was looking to stay in DC. We will be booking again when we return.

Great location

  • 3 of 5

The location could not have been better for our visit to D.C. We were just blocks from both the capitol and Union Station and were able to walk or Uber everywhere we wanted to go. Very safe neighborhood with lots of restaurants and parks close by. We were comfortable enough in the apartment but it claims to be able to accommodate 5, and that would be a real stretch. There is no dining table so if you plan to eat a meal in the apartment, you'll be eating on upholstered sofas and juggling plates & glasses on the coffee table or your knees. This would be a challenge for 4 or 5 people. Washer and dryer in the apartment were convenient but the bar-b-que grill that's mentioned in the description is actually on an upstairs rear porch right outside the owner's back door, and accessible by going out into a very overgrown yard to take stairs to the second level. We would not have felt comfortable using the grill, so we changed our plans and ate out.

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Just got home from our stay in DC. We could not have been happier with this location. It is within walking distance of union station and from there you can get anywhere via bus. The mall is walkable as well but we had our kids who preferred the bus so that's what we did. Many restaurants are easy to walk to. I saw a small grocery store about a block away though we did not need to go there because Kim, the owner, had graciously provided the basics for us. . . and some yummy cookies that my boys loved! Parking is tight but available and worked for us in our mini van. We would highly recommend this place!!

Cozy place, great location.

  • 5 of 5

This little apartment is a great place for a small family. So close to the Capitol and Mall, the Library of Congress, Metro stops and Bike Shares. The neighborhood is lovely, very residential, covered in trees. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Cute neighborhood, we strolled around a great deal just checking out daily life. There was a nice little yard space for sitting out front. I really appreciated the opportunity to be in a neighborhood AND be close to sights.

The apartment was great! There was a lovely assortment of snacks, books, and info on local area. The water pressure and temp were excellent, good towels. The laundry machines were efficient and very handy. The living space was a little small, absolutely fine for our family of three, but more than four people would be a tight if relaxing indoors was a large part of the agenda. We had all that was necessary for making meals. Ample linens, power supplies. Wifi was good. Owners were available for communication.

Thanks for the lovely stay!
