About the property

Ocean views and trade winds. Quite spacious retreat - large open plan home.

This is a great wide open space with hardwood floors. Modern kitchen with most of the tools you will need mean you can cook without any problems, fully stocked with cooking and baking implements, toaster, mixer, waffle iron, blender, a few kinds of baking sheets (electric oven and stove).

The dinner room table has an 8 foot hardwood table with regular seating for 6 (but can fit 4 more with moving around some chairs). Both common spaces also have flatscreen tv's and entertainment systems. (4 LCD TV systems in all) Living room has an Apple TV. There is a desk for a place for work.

The living room has a large L shaped couch and big "papasan" chair. The island in the kitchen has two additional chairs to use anywhere needed. The downstairs common room with video game type seats. The upstairs lānai has a large outdoor table with 6 chairs. There is a small koi pond and meditation/reading space in the backyard with stone walls supporting flowers, banana trees and some spices and chili peppers. The large front lawn has date palms, flowering heliconia, bird of paradise, bananas, puakenikeni's (like a jasmine tree), young orange and lemon trees and more.

Sleeps 12 in beds, 2 more on the couch and there is a twin mattress with bedding in a closet For a total of 13 in a pinch, I don't recommend going to 13 unless you are close and good friends. The bedrooms are set up: Master bedroom upstairs has french doors to the lanai with a 'tempurpedic' king sized bed, LCD and blueray player and small walk-in closet. Downstairs has 3 bedrooms each with a queensized bed and the largest room has a bunkbed with twin beds and en-suite bathroom of it's own

About Adam

Adam co-owns a small business with his wife Michelle. With their 3 children they split their time between Alaska and Hawaii. Together they hold a Community Care License and volunteer with at risk children And also volunteers as an EMT.

Adam purchased this house in 2014

Why Adam chose Pahoa

We have lived off and on the island of Hawai'i for more than 10 years. We moved from a 7 acre off grid property a few miles south as our children got old and more exploratory. We searched for 3 years to find a home that meet all the criteria we agreed upon and hope you enjoy it too. Close enough to the ocean to hear the waves, but not close enough to be shaking and crashing all the time. The weather is mostly great with rain at night and mostly sunny days. In a neighborhood, but still very quite. It's just such a great location we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I've been lucky to have been able to travel and the big island of Hawai'i is one of my favorite place anywhere. I am happy to share secret and favorite place, some close by, some a full day, but feel free to ask.

What makes this house unique

We do have one of the larger and more modern homes in the area. not a mansion or crazy high price, just a good spot while still affordable (we hope) to most everyone.

2 nights in Hilo

  • 4 of 5

It was a big house, neat & clean, has Wifi. We only encountered some minor problems with housekeeping, Adam was receptive to our feedbacks . House is in quiet location, walking distance to beach. House can use some more amenities like more utensils, cooking supplies...Adam was accessible & available for any problems. Hilo is very lush & green. A lot of activities to do but it rained during our stay (as expected) so we only went to the Volcanic National Park, which is a must do, even in the rain.

Unique "warm ponds" and other volcanic features of the east side of Hawaii in the lower Puna district. This is including lava tubes, volcano formed geology with amazing coastline amid old mango forests, lava fields and many "secret" (not really) ocean trails to the south along Government Beach road in the Nanawale forest reserve.
